Content warning: Contains violent and distressing content, including references to sexual violence and racist slurs.
Incels, short for involuntary celibates, are mostly lonely young men who can’t find a sexual or romantic partner - and resent women for it. They usually gather online to vent about their lack of romantic success, and their frustration towards women for denying them sex. But can this online hate spill out into the real world?
In this two-part investigation, two female producers meet with current and former incels to explore the darker side of the movement.
Chapters:
00:00 - 00:58 Intro
00:59 - 02:34 Meeting an incel who tells us what he used to think about women
02:35 - 4:18 Leaving the incel community
4:19 - 5:31 Are incels dangerous? The link between incels, extremism and terror
5:32 - 5:51 Are incels a threat to society?
5:52 - 6:55 Meeting a former female incel
6:56 - 8:17 The dangers of being a woman in the incel world
8:19 - 8:52 What can be done to help incels?
8:53 - 9:48 Life after being an incel

    • Are there female Incels too? Just curious, because we should arrange them to date each other. May be that should solve the problem. Wonder if you could investigate.

    • @@navalfa7291 as Ive understood it, there are incel women (femcel) but incel men does not accept them as such since it's not "possible" for women to be involountarily celibate. Again, as Ive understood it, they also do not want to date "anyone ugly" either, but the absolute main point is that they inherently do not see themselves as worthy of love mostly of how they look like. I am no expert though, just what Ive gathered.

He took responsibility for himself and is trying to get out of the victim mentality, and make a change. It is work. And he is doing it. Proud of you ! Wish the rest of these men could pull themselves out of the hole they have dug for themselves. But sometimes a hole is a warm comfy, if lonely, place to be....easier to stay in that hole.

  • Jesus this is sad. This paranoia where young males view and value sexual relationships in such a bizarre way stirred on by social media is a sickness. There's nothing healthy about it at all on both sides. The inability of youth to find, make and keep relationships without using SM is absurd, and it'll only get worse. Just tragic.

  • Its so strange to me, because this community wasn't around when i was younger. I had low self esteem, but had better luck with girls than some other guys. I know guys that were virgins when we graduated highschool, who have gone on to date and marry. Life is tough. Social media is ruining people's lives. Most of these guys would have been fine, if they didn't have this "community" to bounce negative ideas around with.

  • Although I’m not an incel by association, I still feel frustrated d resentful at times. I’ve tried improving myself physically and socially to be desirable to people. I can’t even make friends. Sometimes the loneliness builds up and I feel hateful. Other days I feel a little happier. The resentment comes and goes but I’m tired of feeling resentful. Deprivation, loneliness, rejection, and isolation despite trying can really f**k up your mind.

  • What I find extremely annoying about the phrase “incel culture” and the word “incel” is that I’ve been a very lonely person a lot of my life, I’ve found it very difficult to find relationships, and there are times that yes it has made me angry. But that doesn’t mean I’m toxic to women or wish any harm to women. Now whenever people talk about men who have a hard time finding a partner it’s automatically associated with “incel” and all these associations. Loneliness is an epidemic in modern late capitalist society. But for some reason there always needs to be some kind of category so they can call it a subculture and dismiss it or call it dangerous. It’s an emotionally violent society / world we live in. If this subculture exists then it’s a socio-economic problem it doesn’t just appear out of nowhere it’s systemic

    • I'm sure you have experienced a lot of loneliness in your life. Assuming you are female if you wanted to find a sexual partner, you could have find one. Sexual needs are not shallow for those that can't find someone. I've heard women say, "Well one time I walked into a nightclub and didn't talk to anyone all night. It wasn't no big deal. Men have no reason to complain". These women still can find someone to have sex with and completely miss the point make an invalidating statement such as "I’ve been a very lonely person a lot of my life". The "incel culture" at least gives the celibate men validation that they didn't get from you. I grew up during the tail end of the sexual revolution. As a teenager most of the kids I knew thought we all get laid eventually and we did. A lot of young men today just don't have hope while a young woman walks into a nightclub and she is treated like a celebrity just for being female.

  • I'm surprised that there hasn't been more research on the relationship between autism and identification with the incel movement. The one thing that almost all incels suffer from is a deficit in social skills, presumably for many biological and environmental reasons. If people really cared there would be an organisation to improve their social skills and teach them "game" in an ethical manner.

  • Ryan was only 15 when he got involved in the online groups. Its sick its like they are grooming, young boys like Ryan who was bullied by girls. Luckily, he pulled away from it, and not only that he grew up to be a nice looking guy. I was bullied by boys from age 10-15. I used to have a big nose, was skinny as a bone, and crooked teeth, before I grew into my body, got my teeth fixed and my nose done. Because of the bullying I developed an obession with wanting to be sexy to prove the bullies wrong, it eventually resulted in me secretly looking up grown women as a teen who worked in so called sexy jobs, and me gravitating towards working in the adult industry which Im still trying to escape.

Incels absolutely CANT unless they pay for it. Woman that are a 1/10 at the bottom of the barrel can still get a man even if they had no limbs not to sound funny. I think it’s something a woman will never understand because they have no idea what it’s like to be in the body of a man and vise versa.

Tell her that’s okay you like having her as just a friend. Give it a little time then ask her to introduce you to one of her girl friends. The more girls you have as just platonic friends the more girls you’ll get introduced to and a good word put in, you’ll also learn how to talk to girls comfortably , that’s more important than looks

  • Please keep in mind that INCEL comes from Involuntarily Celibate. One study shows that over 30% of men are either still virgins or haven't had sex in the past year. Even a large percentage of men who are actually in relationships would be considered Incels because they're in a sexless relationship. I've been with my current wife for almost 14 years and it's been over a year since we've had sex. Even when we did, it was usually only a few times per year. So, because I'd actually like to have sex but I'm not, by definition, I'm an Incel. Stop taking a small percentage of men in a group and expanding that to represent all men. No, I don't hate women, I'm not violent towards them and I don't rape them. Do I believe a lot of women have unrealistic standards as far as what they want in a man. Most women say they want a man who is both at least 6' tall and earning over $100K, which is only 2% of adult men, so a lot of women pass over good men in search of their dream man who doesn't exist. That is a far cry from hating women and wanting to hurt them.

He was physically attractive more than a lot of guys imo def not below average in looks hbut cockiness and the way he was ruined it. His personality and mood / brain disorders and some rich Cali school and liking cheerleader types was the issue and I get that some girls can be seriously mean but he could not seem to empathize in general and was hypersensitive, the latter I grasp. It’s odd, I’m all down on myself but he was like I’m a god they don’t appreciate. Ugh

Men don't have to be Chads, some of which have been the most vacuous, asinine and fatuous individuals I have met because their success with women hinges on how attractive they are. Get shredded at the gym and modify your looks as much as you can/want but above all, find what makes you happy. A happy man is an attractive man.

You also NEED to have game as a man - you're the one pursuing, so you HAVE to understand women. The burden is ALL on you as a man. And this is why it's damn near impossible for SOME men to succeed in dating

    • It's over for normies. You still have prejudice In you heart do you know why incels are suicidal it's because everyone tyrannizes them. So the only community which does accept them is them also most of the posts are satirical we are diverse. Again not everyone is the same and why do you think it's toxic? More prejudice against incels. he may have friends and there topics he can discuss with other people that may not be accepted in general. Also the first step to Brian washing is to isolate. He can be in many different communities.
