i love how these ""essential"" "features" mostly consist of animations and slight tweaks...
Well... Android is fairly fully features. We're not going to see massive, wholesale changes anymore.
Its a mature technology that's why
This guy and I has different understanding of the word "essential".
I love the fact that the pixel Eights will get 7 years of updates but my pixel 6A only gets three
Pixel 6a will get 3 Android upgrades and additional 2 years of Security updates. Total of 5 years of Security updates
It's because of the Tensor G3
Okay, this is a new thing. I'm imagining moving forward Google will make eight years the standard thing
The pixel 6A is a heap of shit. The 8 is god tier. That's why the update schedule is completely different
5 years is enough, I'll change my phone after 5 years anyway
They could make the ring around the front camera flash for notifications and show charging status. That would be cool I think, heck, call it ' Dynamic Ring' for all I care!
Thankyou very much for all the well needed information mate, I just upgraded my Pixel 7 Pro this morning! Although it did say that In 9 days, which would make it October 14th, everyone will get the upgrade regardless! But...I'm not so patient lol! All of these steps you shared most definitely helped me out because I wasn't all to sure what was coming along with the update lol! Again...I appreciate you taking the time to share this info with us. God bless, and have a pleasant day mate, cheers 🍻🤙🥃🍻
the drag n drop was available in A13 for split screen, they made it available for full screen now
Loving my pixel 6a on android 14.. I wish pixel fold comes in India, waiting to try Google's foldable
That drag and drop is so cool
lol these animations are so "ESSENTIAL" that I will drop dead one second without them
Just noticed that notification volume and ring volume has been separated. Yay!
The transparent navigation bar on dark mode works very well. Like on Facebook, there is no more bezel around the bar which was not the case. (Used Facebook cuz it was one of the apps which was very famous for not supporting a transparent bar for Android)
it doesn't work on spotify though
Is there any major update in the backend? Or is it mostly just appearance updates in the UI? If it's the former I think I can use my current phone on android 13 for another year easily
I thought they were adding a desktop mode like dex or was that specific to the pixel?
can you guys give more info on the drag and drop feature like does it only work only on google apps or everywhere and the intricacies of it
You mentioned the "app" being updated on predictive back feature in Developer options. What app are you specifically talking about? Thanks
Can anyone clarify if they are getting bit-perfect audio on android 14. I read that the new update has fixed this issue and not capped at 48khz anymore.
is ultra HDR a pixel only feature or android 14 feature? can pixel 7 or 6 or AOSP rom have this ?
How to apply the Monochrome theme to app icons in the app drawer ?
I like everything so far, expect for the fact this update broke the Shortcut Maker app - which let you make app shortcuts with pixel launcher themed icons to fix native-unthemed. The shortcuts stopped working so now I can't use themed icons anymore :(
Same !!!!
Strange. I use that app and after updating my P6pro to A14 it still works for me. I notice the home screen icons now have a little "shortcut maker" right arrow in the lower right of each app icon made with the app but they still properly launch any given app. Try force stopping Shortcut Maker, clearing cache, and rebooting phone?
Same 😭
@@ben_1970Try changing the color they wont adapt anymore like before.
Is it possible to change the shortcuts to a more transparent look?
I wish you could center the clock in the lock and home screens like in Android 11 and before.
Looks like no longer I have to switch through the wallpapers until monet picks up that monochrome color palette I want xD
I have a galaxy a54 hopefully I am going to get it soon this month.
i just updated my pixel 6 pro it's amazing Google still care about it's older phones
I have finally gotten Andriod 14 on my Oppo Reno Ten here in NZ
What about generative AI wallpapers? how to set them up?
What happened to the AI wallpapers that were supposed to be included? Can't find them anywhere...
predictive back looks awesome
On Android 14 is it possible to remove the Bell icon and Day Timer on the Notification Box. If so, how please. Thankyou
I using the pixel 7 pro and the new lock screen animation is very laggy, anyone else notice that?
Still no native battery-health reading?
hello, how can I get the 2 Egert accordion applications? I looked for them on the play store and they don't show up, and when I find them on Google it says your device is not compatible with this version, what can I do?
You didn't mention Better Hearing Aid Support in it. How come?
Why can't I get the update yet on my pixel 7 pro. It's the 5th!
I remember my old Xperia sp had a light bar with customisable light notifications. Was great until you were tying to sleep!
How do I set my flash to pulse in notification settings? I don't see it..I have the screen and camera flash set to flash...but I don't see the pulse...
Predictive back gestures only works with settings
Will the Pixel 7 and 7 pro be getting pixel 8 camera features with OS upgrade ?
No. The Pixel 7 could possibly do those things in theory, but Google is unlikely to add them as it lowers the incentive to upgrade your device.
Will these features be available in Motorola edge 30?
You can also change boot animation 😉
Does drag and drop work with pictures like apple and samsung?
YO THE DRAG AND DROP THO
Can you hide apps? And how can you remove the Google search bar at the bottom?
I am not getting haptic feedback for lockscreen shortcuts interaction 😢
Thanks for the video. None of this seems necessary, so I wish the Android 14 notification gave me a "No thanks" option.
Did Google add Desktop mode like the Samsung DEX?
He would have mentioned it in the video..
Will i get android 14 on my REVVL V+ 5G android 12 phone?
I find this update to be quite lackluster in terms of visual and feature changes (although i do love all the new features) there werent any major bugs from android 13 that really warranted this lack of featureset (like how android 13 was minor visually and cosmetically but fixed so much of android 12)
The back swipe preview doesn't work ? I get a message saying I need to do other things that I don't understand 😢
What is the media player on pixel phones I have 6A ?
Where do I find the settings for the Lock screen toggles? I've a Google home shortcut on there, and it's annoying as hell.
I updated yesterday and I can't seem to find the Roaming toggle anymore
Hi, can some tell me how to play youtube off screen just like android 13 does?
I don't think I understood that auto-unloco. What was that about?
Sorry, I got distracted, can you repeat everything from the mini game on. Thanks
5:11 IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET RID OF THE BUBBLES BACK ARROW SWIPE AND GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL?
I'm not desperate for it but nice QOL changes here!
Olá , sou novo na família Google pixel, como receber as notificações das mensagens de entrega por favor ? Obrigado abraço de Portugal
Samsung has flash notification on its ui. İ had android 12 and it was working normallu
Are Quick settings still the same shitty tiles from previous versions?
in my version there is not auto-confirm pin. is it possible?
Only if you choose a 6 digit number, then the option shows. I'd like to use it too, but I prefer 4 digit pins, so I can't have it
They should work on that transparent nav bar
I'm stupid, let me get this straight... I have a Motorola Edge 30 with Android 13, my home screen and lock screen's wallpapers are basically pink images. The theme I can apply from the Motorola settings (there is NO "Themes App", like I encountered in my Xiaomi phone) chooses the colour of everything based on any colour I want (pink, because I love this colour), or I can pick the colour from the wallpaper. So, choosing from the wallpapers, my phone app (Google phone, the stock app) is pink, my messages app (Google messages, the stock app) is pink, my calculator (stock app) is pink, my buttons are pink, and even my Chrome tabs are pink, and I REALLY love this. Will tI be able to choose the colour basing on the wallpaper applied, with this Android update? I don't want to lose my pink...!
Why don't I have Android 14 yet pixel 7 pro
I like the predictive back but one handed is way better for me
Still waiting on m Tmobile Pixel 7...
A14 still has no lockscreen security...can toggle radios on/off, shutdown background apps, and shutdown phone without any authentication.
Yet we still have to press the arrow key after our passcode, well done Google 🙃
That was already available just had to go into settings
Finally, 8 days after release I got Android 14. Thanks for this video, I'm glad I saved it.
All seems good and all. Google pixel 4a5g is offering android 14. But i feel as alot of these new features are just more drain to the battery. Think im gonna hold off.
Still not on my Pixel 7a through Google Fi (ironically).
Fot My pixel 5a I guess this is the last. Will it get android 15?
None are essential, as we got by fine with Android for over a decade without these. Auto-Unlock while good, feels like something of a basic feature that should've been on Android ages ago.
More like Android 13.5
More like Android 10.9. 😂 Much like Windows, nothing will be revolutionary anymore.
My pixel 7 seems to stutter & lag after the android 14 update, anyone else having similar issues?
Dont mean disrespect but Huawei had the split screen years before and runned just fine, hate how they cut off competition and gave us subpar improvements on android, and ios
The 14 update forced me to reset my launcher so i lost all of my organization, and shortcut maker doesn't work so i can't setup custom icons... Such a smooth transition lol
Did it erased your data I am scared to update my phone I don't want to loose my date or make changes I like it how is. I paused the update for now
@@user-oi7jt5jv6v No none of my data was erased
The auto confirm pin is useless for when it comes for a 4 pin pass Google please fix this as an option
Now i hope they fix their touch sensor firmware soon ...
Might just be placebo, but my 6a feels a decent amount smoother after updating, and it was already good to begin with.
Same feeling with pixel 7. The micro stutters are less.
TIL learned that UI changes and animations are "features".
Anyone having battery issues with Android 14 on their Pixel 7? On Android 13, I'd usually get 5 hours of Screen On Time. Since Android 14, I've been getting 3 hours. I don't always have bluetooth and wifi/data on but my Pixel 7's battery has been draining relatively quickly
My phone is a not hot after installing this update
And now I'm gonna wait several months till Samsung decides to upgrade the Galaxy S21 xD
How did this warrant a new android version?? Seems more appropriate to label this as an android 13 patch (although android 13 was kinda just an android 12 patch lol)
All I'd like is to be able to turn off Wi-Fi by tapping the shortcut tile, instead of it opening up to a menu with a toggle switch.
I am still waiting for android 14 😔
Me too on my pixel 7 pro
Just go to settings and click the system then upgrade. I got android 14 on my Pixel 6 Pro yesterday.
I finally got it 2 or 3 days ago
What do you mean by Auto confirm pin? You've been able to set a passcode with a pin on all phones
You can set it so that you don't have to hit "enter" after. Once you enter your 6 digits, it automatically opens. It has to be a 6-digit code, though.
FOR ME AFTER ANDROID 12 ALL THE VERSIONS ARE THE SAME NOW
The only essential update was splitting the volume for calls and notifications. It's a godsend.
Diddy album cover?
I dont understand the auto confirm pin feature.
Google and Apple might as well fuse, maybe together they can do something a bit more substantial . Well , I really like refinement and I love products from both, those "features" already existing in smartphones for a long time now.....
The press and hold requirement for lockscreen shortcuts is waay too slow imo, wish you could turn it off
So sad Google is only starting to catch up with customization option available to root/ROM users from a decade ago.
My biggest gripe with Android has been how tacky it's colored. Changing that to greyscale is going to be epic!
How to install
Why do you say predictive back is a strange addition??
Have they fixed whatever is keeping bluetooth in mono on galaxy phones? I can use the C adapter and wired headphones fine, in stereo. Bluetooth stuck in mono
