thanks bro for sharing such information. my GR is clock >100k km. hope i can maintain my car as good and as well as long as possible.
My pleasure, and yes you will!! 💪🏼
Always informative - Thank you
TY very much! Keep ur vids coming pleas 🙂
Cheers! Do you have any specific topic of interest?
@@AJClubsport Cheers! A summery of all your knowledge would be nice :) Did you think about adding a "catch can" to your GR Yaris (has both direct and indirect injections, as far as I know)?
Thankyou Hini, its great to have this input also from you, you’re doing it in the best ways!
Yes, I take my oil to Toyota for the warranty scheduled changes, and also I change it more on my own
Do you had contact with the Dealer or Toyota directly? I just want something written before i take action@@AJClubsport
Very informative. Thank you.
Cheers!
Thanks for this. Just got my new Yaris so will be changing all fluids asap
Very welcome mate!
That was very useful. Actually, I have seen something similar once, when an American tuner inreviewd a Motul expert on Nismo cars.
Thankyou!
Everything you say is correct, I did a lot of research in early stage of owning one back in 2021. Lately I used Redline Oil MTL and MT-LV which is the best for manual transmission. As for the Transfer case I used Driven and same to Rear Differential, on Mutol (LS) is for limited slip for circuit package GR option.
Cheers Mate, thankyou for the support, most important for me!
Great video again, love your insights about GRY. Why do you prefer Motul Eco-lite over Motul Power? Is there any specific reason?
Because they are actually very similar, I was told, meet same specifications and the Lite was in stock
thanks for this great summary - testing ravenol 5w30 also for next summer, espec for track use
Which Ravenol is this exactly?
RAVENOL DXG SAE 5W-30@@VidNibs
Sounds great!
maybe the difference in viscosity is quite small when comparing 0w20 in 80'C to 5w30 in 110'C @@AJClubsport
This amazing content just one question if we provide the 5w30 Motul oil than the 0w20 Motul will the dealer void warranty because it’s different from what on the oil cap?
Thankyou! My suggestion is to ask your service dealer before: mine is happy with 5W30 (happier infact), but this may vary
Your link to Piotr's channel is broken but great video as always!!! 1 thing I'm not sure about is the viscosity of 5w30. surely in non-hot climates its not going to be a good idea? Also if there is no constant track use its a bit too much?
I will do my best to fix the link! The 5W30 is the best overall compromise, as used by the top tuners worldwide and rally teams, I've done all the due diligence. Cheers!
What do you think of something like the Ravenol 5W-30 VMP for the GRY?
I don’t have experience with the exact product but, if it is a higher end oil and API SP, it will be perfect 👌
ravenol recommended the DXG variant as 5w30 but best to consult them directly @vidnibs
What are you recommending to replace after the first 1000km?
All the car’s lubricants if possible, but minimum the engine oil
A presto
I'm not sure about different viscosity and warranty, that's why I use Toyota's 0w20 SP. Are you sure we are allowed use other than specified viscosity? I do change every 5000km, hope that way I keep engine healthy and local Toyota service happy.
You will be fine with that frequency. Here it’s ok to change viscosity
@@AJClubsportCheers! All the best in 2024.! Hopefully with more of your content!
@@markos8400 Cheers mate!
Hi!! What oil temperature do you have in normal driving? Mine on the highway at 120kmh and 10° outside my oil temperature is a 100°c.. and when I srive a little bit hard on mountains roads the oil goes directly to 120°c +
Hello mate, mine is usually in the 80s and 100 when going maximum, sometimes a bit under 120 only when above 2000mt over sea level and going 100%
Thank you for your response! So my GR definitely have a probleme🥲 calling my Toyota dealer tomorrow morning
Your GR has normal temperatures for a stock car, no problems! You need to install our Hood Vents and an additional oil cooler to achieve my results!
@@AJClubsport ok! But in Switzerland we can’t cut the hood 🥲 can’t install a oil cooler as well.. or I have to take a very discreet one and hope police will not see it 🤦🏻♂️😂
I use MOTUL 300V Competition 0W-40 oil, much better than OEM 0W-20, the oil pressure on a warm engine in the range of low and medium shaft revolutions is much higher.
I understand, but remember that the 0W is what makes your oil film thin, therefore less protection 😅
@@AJClubsport OW is responsible for the viscosity of cold engine oil, 40 for the viscosity of hot oil, so I have better protection when the engine is warm.
yes, this is how it works BUT, its not so simple: the lower grade viscosity has a direct impact on overall oil viscosity, thus making the 0W rated oil’s film less protective and thinner. If you wish to learn more, I suggest you watch some tests on Piotr’s channel, in description
Would also be great to say how much of these is needed. Or did I miss that in the clip?
I can do it!
In Spain dealers use ravenol 0w-20
And here is where you would like to ask them for 5W30! Thankyou for sharing!
@@AJClubsport why no 0w-30?
@@Florensuescuncolomobecause the 0W rated oils make a film that is too thin to protect well
For the haters that say only Toyota 0w20 oil can be used. My UK manual says...that grade is "Recommended" i.e not absolute. It says Toyota genuine oil is used in your Toyota vehicle Toyota recommends the use of Toyota genuine oil. Then says...Another motor oil of matching quality can also be used. And says e ither API snplus or SP.
Thankyou ❤️
You are right! We decided to step up the oil in the gearbox to the same in transfer, given overheating from the torsen differential, that is why one less!
I’m sorry but I disagree on engine oil. “It has been proven that 5w30…” proven by who, doing what? The engine is designed for 0w20, even on hard use. If you change the viscosity you are in fact aging the engine faster as the motor itself has been designed with specific tolerances for that very oil, 0w20. The chief engineer who was responsible for the GR Yaris design claims that. You just have to use a good 0w20, ideally, or if standard just replace the oil often (I agree that the advance fuel economy they have in europe is not the ideal oil but I rather run that than other viscosity, no brainer). Let’s stop saying things that aren’t true. All the iberian cup cars race on Ravenol DFE 0w20 and have had 0 engine failures in two seasons. Those are hard facts. The rest is just…well
Thankyou for sharing your view. In italy, that have undertaken @acmeracing all the development for rally GR’s, including I imagine the Syvecs maps for the Portuguese, they learnt this while experiencing a massive blowby and mega detonation on their main development car. Plus, if you try on your own, you will notice the difference. Of course 0W20 works, and is safe if exchanged very frequently BUT, it protects less than 5W30, that doesn’t come with adverse issues. A bit more listening, a bit less hate…
@@AJClubsport the first adverse issue using 5w30 is that Toyota voids the warranty. On an engine failure situation, one of the first things Toyota does is an oil check in a lab. If the oil is not within 0w20 specifications, they will void the warranty.
Ravenol dfe 0w20 oil check in a lab after 10.000 km and track use on a GR Yaris: kzhead.info/sun/iLuLiK2RjKumpas/bejne.htmlsi=H7FSwagZOdeBoiqG
@@CDM33333 Are you sponsored by Ravenol? Because you are still missing the whole point of this topic. It's not about the oil degradation only, as I said, its about the protection film that is greater in 5W30 than 0W20.
@@AJClubsport I’m not sponsored by Ravenol at all and have not received any money from them or any discount. I just use it because it has been proved that it works very well on the Yaris engine. Also, is the oil that the official Toyota dealers in Spain, put in the GR Yaris, the EFS 0w20, in particular instead of Toyota 0w20 oil. On another note, now you bring the sponsor topic on. Are you or have you been sponsored by BOS suspension, or have they offer you a discount in order to praise their products online?
That car have 10 years waranty Toyota, why it is a problem to run with that 0w20 oil. If people get there engines run bad, and create some issues it its for Toyota to solve it out. Many Modern engines run on tin oil, its a evolution in design of internal parts that get better and better. Bmw M cars with a three liter six cylinder with almost 500hp run on 0w30, so why not a Yaris GR on 0w20.
Because - the Gen 1 car has an issue with piston rings gaps, that when thermically stressed have brought to mega-blow by in various occasions, the most famous is ACME’s development car. - oil pump can limit oil pressure with bypass, but can’t help low oil pressure idling after heavy driving at 0.3bar on 0W20 oil. All the top tuners, and most rally teams are using 5W30 for these reasons, and they change oil with much higher frequency than average road drivers. If you just street your car on Oem settings 0W20 will be fine, but if you are pushing thing in performance (power) and driving, you will want to consider minimum top quality 0W20 or a very good Api SP 5W30
