CANE CORSO puppies FIRST TIME in public place!

Our litter of Cane Corso puppies are 7.5 weeks old and almost ready to go to their new forever homes. Now they are vaccinated enough to be safe to leave our house and go in public places.
This is an important test for them and us - the very first time in a “big unknown world”. Puppies and dogs temperament best to be tested in places they never been before and with stress presented ( because we want to see how puppy deals with stress and how they recover or not from it). We use short car drive ( 10 min) as a first stress factor - puppy is alone in the crate, without its siblings and not cuddled by a human - uncomfortable situation but a short one with positive outcome, to teach the puppy to handle that stress well and start preparing them for future stressors they will meet in their life’s. After the car ride, we take puppy out in the new place- we going into a Tractor Supply store here- watching every reaction they may have as they never been out yet, never been in public and met strangers in buildings plus so many smells and noises. And on top of it none of them ever been on leash before:)
This litter did really good! We are excited for their future!

  • Red male seemed so happy and social. Amazing, they are only 7 week old.

    • Good eye! Thank you! As the age goes - breed in general have temperament issues due to overbreeding (like any breed that becomes too popular to fast) with lack of confidence being top the issue. Puppies at this age should be forward and curious

  • I know a lot of people are concerned with taking a puppy out so young but this latest advice of not taking a puppy out until they are 4 months old or older causes its own problems. You need to socialize puppies while they are young, you need to get them used to going out in public while they are young. It’s much harder to do this when they are already 6 months old. I am not suggesting you take your young puppy out to meet a bunch of dogs in a park, or meeting up with strays that may not be vaccinated, but use common sense and you should be fine. I have a 9 year old mastiff who was scared of a lot of things for a long time because we took the advice of not taking him out for 6 months. Took a long time to get him used to being out in public. Our 1 year old Great Dane was a totally different situation, was socialized with dogs we knew were vaccinated from about 10 weeks old and just takes everything in his stride.

  • I love how they run back you after someone pets them, like "mommm did you see, did you see, I got some rubs" 🤣🤣. Jordan still does the same 🥰. The care and time that you and Jamie put in is what makes y'all ELITE breeders. If my house had the space I'd definitely have a few Ivy League Corsos lounging around 💯

    • The runt was the best dog imo. Great temperment, and great form. A Cane Corso is an agile dog, the other pups look too big to me at this age.

      @boatelectricaldiy@boatelectricaldiy8 ай бұрын
    • I agree with you - early on 3 out of 5 we’re large puppies, the one you call a runt and the female were average normal. Right now they all pretty equal - big ones slowed down and small one caught up. In general I am not fun of oversized dogs but if they are big they MUST be athletic and sound and bring as much endurance as the smaller ones period, otherwise they are out of the program.

She's grown up sensible, not aggressive when outside the property and great with other dogs & cats. Zero interest in people. I can take her anywhere, she loves training. Fantastic breed but only for those who are self-disciplined and put the work in. CALM IS CRUCIAL WITH THIS BREED.

You're allowing him to go which ever way he wants and changing the leash, your legs crossing over top of his head but Imagine him huge...most likely he is very huge now but this is for someone else who is doing this and they may read this so they will know. Beautiful puppy!! You're a sweet lady. I have no doubt you're going to be a great owner. With these dogs you have to stick with everything on point. No slacks God bless you all.❤❤❤❤

    • We have many first time DOG owners that did amazing job raising their Cane Corso puppy- it is absolutely depends on the person and how much they willing to educate themself and spend quality time with their dog. As a breeder, we find it is easier to teach someone totally new then one who “know it all” and have experience doing it wrong. Best of luck to you in your journey!

    @CarltonLewis90@CarltonLewis908 ай бұрын
    • Hi! Our website is www.ivyleaguekennel.com you will find there answers to your questions. As a lines goes - there is NO such a thing working line I our breed and don’t let anyone to fool you with that. Line made of many generations of breeding and selecting for certain tasks (work) and there is no one achieved that much consistency really but only one worldwide that comes to my head ( I am familiar with most decent breeders in the world). There is only several that taking that direction in recent years but there is no lines yet as a definition. Cane Corso is very versatile breed that can do many types of work - Jack of all trades and master of none😀 and should be able to work and show and there is should not be separations. Shows do not require any special effort from the dog, it’s only requires money from its owner - anyone can become a Champion if does not have physical DQ faults ( which are very minimal)

  • I'm a little confused about something. This puppy is only 7 weeks old yet he has fully healed cropped ears trained and standing erect. Splinting alone usually takes weeks. How can this be?

    @michaelsteiner7588@michaelsteiner75884 ай бұрын
    • I wrote you a response but i dont see it so ill write another one just in case- properly cropped ears will not need any training, they will stand alone. There is also genetic component that playing huge importance- the position, form and quality of the ear. Low set soft ears with a crease ( braking point on the back side) will not stand fast and do need help. So there is that. We crop at 6 weeks old, Neosporin twice a day, they healed and stitches out at 7-7.5 weeks old and most stand properly right after crop really. We like to send them homes fully healed and standing so no headache for owners to deal with them. Cropping is a dying art and its almost impossible to find skilled vet that familiar with specific breed crop and able to see head shape and ear quality and perform the crop accordingly.

    • @@ivyleaguekennelcanecorso Prioritizing their physical health by waiting 16weeks does not mean they won't be well socialized. You could carry them in your arms, in a shopping cart, in the car, in a trolley etc. They do not need to go out to places where there is high risk of contracting fatal viruses and diseases. Having them killed early on won't help much with their socialization now, would it. I recommend you seek many other ways to socialize a puppy. Puppy should first be comfortable being on a lead in their own home environment. You should take it gradually, taking them on just like that to places where anything can happen to have a life-long negative effect and get them traumatized. I think it is way too much for a puppy at 7 weeks to be taken out without mom, and other pack members to experience so much at once. It can be built gradually. If you apply an Early Neurological Stimulation program, you should also know the puppy development stage. You could socialize them very easily without having to risk their health, and you should always prioritize that. I have got three dogs and they are very well socialized, and they have never stepped foot anywhere out before 16 weeks, always carried on in my arms, starting with noise desensitization, getting them used to different sounds, odors, going to malls instead of pet stores or any place where there is high dog transit. All of them are super fine, on trains, buses, at the beach, subway, malls, cities whatever, we lived in Spain, and the Netherlands and never had an issue with them. So, porfa, mejor no arriesgar sus salud.

She hung on by a thread for 2 weeks in the hospital. The Only reason she made it was my vet, she stayed with him the Whole time, went home with him nightly. When I got her to him she was a wet dishrag hanging over my hand, he refused to give up on her. She was almost 12 when she passed away. It is Not wise to take pups this young in public, I have 25yrs of experience with dogs, whether it was breeding training or showing and this is what I advised them. Not worth the risk.

But him seemingly doing well is no justification for needless docking. I actually dedicate much of my life to the OVERALL safety, health, happiness and general well-being of dogs (some other animals too) and have for decades. And I know that in vast majority of cases, ear docking is done SOLEY for aesthetic reasons, meaning a human wants the dog to have a certain look. So they mutilate a puppy's ears to create hard scar tissue, so the damaged/healing cartilage will project the ears upwards to make the dog look more ferocious and fierce. In UK and most of Europe they're ahead of us, they've already recognized the barbarity and senselessness of this cruelty, so this practice is banned, and rightly so. Am I biased against injuring a puppy because you want it to LOOK a certain way? You're damn right. Idk what other procedures you're comparing it to, but spay/neuters are totally different.
