  • I LOVE this episode. Even though I have never waterfowl hunted. This is the real deal. Hard work equals great hunting.

  • Great episode. I really like when Travis is hosting. Good job culling those roosters to give the hens less competition for the resources.

    • What i'm curious about is does the rooster abandon the hen at nesting or does it help defend the nest. It seems like in the movies there are about 15 to 1 hen/ rooster that get up. If they kill a hen instead of all roosters there might be some roosters left to defend the nest.

    • @@jamesmoore6907 rooster pheasants are polygamous and as such only care about mating with as many hens as possible. They are not genetically programmed to care about what happens after that. You could put a skunk in a pen with a hen sitting on a nest and the rooster that bred her and the rooster would have no inclination to intervene on the skunk predating on the nest.

  • Does the rooster abandon the hen at nesting. If the rooster helps defend the nest then maybe shoot a hen for every 2 or 3 roosters? Or do they know? Seems like in the movies there is 15 hens get up for every rooster?

    • if its that cool and that much snow and it just snowed, let the birds be, the harder you push wildlife when the weather is bad the worse it is for the hens to make the winter. Hunting isn't just about shooting, its about conservation as well. talking about the pheasants since they can't handle the cold as well.

  • this is BS they shouldnt be hunting those pheasants when those birds are in such desperate conditions. fish and game or whoever should have stepped in and closed the season in that area, think about the future people.
