About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. We dream that someday we can transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.
I'd like to see a garden tour but only if she's comfortable doing one.
Agreed!
This 💯
Yea plss but if she doesn't want to it's ok It would just help on my farming journey @goldshawfarm
" but only if she's comfortable doing one."!
Garden party!
Morgan, Beatrix Potter was a strong advocate for small natural farm lands in England country side. She set up a trust from the sale of her books for 4000 acres in Lakes District.❤
That's awesome! i had no idea! Definitely going to look into that!! :D
@@naerwyn239 just found out about it two weeks ago. There's a movie about her life with Renee zellweger. Overall the movie was so so but that little bit of information was very very cool
Which is a lot better than what the other potential source is in terms of recent news and general climate.
Oh wow she created peter rabbit 🐇 i always loved that story as a child ❤
I think Abby is quite possibly missing Toby and the rest. She will eventually get used to being solo but for now she may be a bit sad, that's why she is as close to you and Toby as she can get.
I was thinking that, too. Even though it’s kind of sad to see her looking homesick, it gives Toby a break.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. This is what dogs do when their people leave for work for the day. They sit and watch the door and windows for them to come home. They do better when they are in a "pack"..... will the cattle become her pack??? So sad...... she is an awful ways away from the rest of the farm up there...... will she sleep up there too? Does she have a shelter or something?
yess
I would argue that Abby is sitting there at the fence looking for you vs just a nice place to sit and survey the farm, based on her attachment and behavior. I am sure she will get used to the new routine.
I know Abby has a job, but it's so sad seeing her up there alone. 😢 She had an attachment to Toby even if the feeling wasn't 100% mutual.
I would love a garden tour! I'd like to know: What's planted, why certain plants are planted together, any struggles with gardening she's experienced or any tips she has with gardening. Maybe even some dish ideas based on the things she grows
Your plans for the farm are coming into fruition! With so much on your plate, you handle it with grace and a sense of humor!! Hard work pays off! Blessings to you, Allison and all your critters! Thanks for sharing!
Wow, thank you!
I feel sorry for Abby. She seems so lonely being so far away.
I think Abby dog is looking toward the farm because she misses it. She has her back to the Highlands. I hope she adjusts well.
im thinking the same
I thought that too, made me feel sad for her 🥲
Keep talking to Beatrix and trying to bond with her! Such an amazing opportunity and she's already incredibly friendly and brave. Really bad timing for your trip unfortunately, seems like she's a little shy now 🥺 KEEP TRYING! She's so dang cute. I love when babies are born on the farm ❤ Absolute Jungle out there 😂
I'd love to see an Alison garden tour. And, by the way, the Weird Chickens are my favorite 🥰
I Don't wanna imagine weeding all that..
He has a flock of weeders 😂
More pigs and some goats, farm will be weed free in 3 months
There's no such things as weeds
I'm definitely looking forward to a garden tour! I know Allison doesn't particularly enjoy appearing on the channel so it's an extra special treat when we get to see her!
So sad for Abby! Will Abby and Toby ever be together to play ?
I remember the feeling as a child when we took a 3 week vacation and came home...the excitement of seeing everything was high level joy...
@pamelavargas6811 We are always excited to leave for vacation and packed a week before leaving. When returning and we're an hour from home we get giddy and excited to get home. 🥰🥰
It's so fun listening to you get excited about your trees. the grass and your animals! A very enjoyable watch!
When did you film this Morgan? I hope you and Alison aren't getting hit with flooding, I hear it's pretty bad in parts of Vermont. Great to see Alfred! Prayers for his continuing recovery 🙏 And Abby girl, we are super proud of you,💯 you're going to have a bigger responsibility now since you've learned so much!👏 Those jerks that thought Morgan had made a terrible mistake and Abby was a defective guard dog can sod off🤬 I always had full confidence in Morgan and Abby girl, I knew she'd come along eventually, right guys? I hope most of y'all agree with me!
He did do a video on the flooded areas.
They are usually filmed a week or two before they are seen by us
It's always amazing to see how much growth happens after coming back from a trip!
Yeah but when you don’t go on a trip the grass takes weeks to grow three inches😂😂😂😂
@@adamharris7788 Exactly!🤣
I would love for Allison to give a garden tour! It’s one of my favourite videos every year ❤
Toby Dog is the best. He loves his brushing time!
Whatever Happened to Morgan Making a Something Out of Toby’s Shed/Brushed Fur? I Think Abby Probably Feels Abandon and Yes, “Lonely” up in the Pasture with the Cattle.
Amazing how a week or so of an abundance of rain has created so much growth. The goslings have really grown in such a short span of time, and Beatrix is almost twice the size. It's great to be home because there's no place like it. Thanks Morgan for the update, all is well at Gold Shaw Farm. Note: yes I would love to see what Allison is up to in the garden.
Yes please, more kitty cam! That show of love to Toby was so cute!
All of your animals are wonderful. I am especially fond of the pigs, the cattle, and the weird, but royal, chickens. But Abby is by far my favorite. She is loving, smart, and energetic. And she really adores you, Morgan. You are the one who was the first to greet her when she arrived at your farm. You are the one who patiently trained her even when it was challenging. And you are the one she is looking for as she sits alone by the fence. She is looking for her dad.
As a Pennsylvania girl living in Texas its wonderful to see so much Green! God Bless You and Your Beautiful Farm.
Ditto for me -- from Memphis to the high desert prairie of north central Arizona, and now, just short of monsoon season, tall golden native grasses will have to suffice.
So winter calves? Beatrix is adorable! Morgan, you have so much going on, all the sales & the book looks so nice. Can’t wait to hear the audio version! Do you ever burn trash & tree, bush stuff? Seen the news of massive Vermont flooding, hope that doesn’t affect you all, just terrible devastation. Stay safe ❤️ Abby misses everything, feel for her, seems lonely there. Can’t both dogs watch the whole farm? They roam at night it seems. Toby has to shed that winter coat, could make a sweater from his fur! 🙏❤️🐾🐾
No winter calves.
My guess is Abby is watching for you, not the farm. She sees you from the hill.
It's heartbreaking. 😢
Hey Morgan, I absolutely loved the part of the video with the overhead drone footage along with your commentary. Please do that more often in videos. Thank you.
I love the soft squishiness of baby ducks & geese.
With all that growth you may consider baling it for winter :) Love seeing all the growth on your farm!!
It would probably be a bad idea. It looks like he has a bunch of ferns in his pasture. Ferns are rather toxic for cattle. The cows might not eat them fresh, but dried with hay? They might just eat enough to get sick.
The black stone Alfred delivered will make a beautiful retaining wall. I can’t wait to see it and I can’t wait to see how much the young geese knock back the overgrown grass and weeds.
Absolutelly love the longer videos. Appart from the story you tell is also great to watch the animals for longer too
Abby! Almost a full-fledged crew member now! Promotion. She looks so happy. More confident and calmer even?
I don't think she really wanted to be left behind. Could also be why she's staring back at the rest of the farm too, because she knows that's where he went.
@@jaginaiaelectrizs6341😢
@@jaginaiaelectrizs6341Abby seems very social. More “ pet” in her than Tobey. She likes doing her job but then wants to go back to her pack. I don’t think she’s going to understand
Abby's post... I wanna come home! Why did you leave me here?... was I bad?
Keep in mind she was fixed. That helps a lot with temperament. She does look sad to be left with the cows all day.
Bette is a great name for a chicken. Winnifred Sanderson would be her witch name 🧙♀️ Love the drone shots. Too bad the farm animals do not feel the same way. Great to see Alfred out and about.
**MORGAN, I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRECIOUS VIDEOS!! I WATCH THEM EVERY TIME U POST. I LOVE FOLLOWING YOUR LIFE ON THE FARM AND HOW YOU DEAL WITH THEM. IT TAKES ME AWAY FROM THE "HUSTLE + BUSTLE" OF THE CITY LIFE, WHICH I TRULY HATE!! THANK YOU, MY FRIEND!! YOU ARE TRULY A GOD-SENT!!**
Happy to see Beatrix Potter happy and healthy!
Toby was doing his best to help move the goslings 😊
I raised a lot of chickens in my childhood. I started at 8 years of age with 6 and by the time I was 18, I had 56 of them and eggs were so plentiful that I stopped selling them and was simply giving them away to friends and neighbors. Then I had to leave home to go to college and my younger brother after 6 months said he didn't want to care for them anymore; so we wound up giving them all away lock, stock and Barrel. I had mostly leghorns (about 45 of them; all were hens except for one noisy rooster) and Rhode Island Reds (about 6 of them) with an oddball barred Wyandotte and 2 White Rock hens. When I started raising hens for breeding I decided to try something new ( as I was getting a lot of Leghorns and a lot were roosters which eventually became scrawny coq au vin) and so I intentionally got a White Rock Rooster (that's why I also had the 2 hens as it was a package deal). Since the vast majority of my hens were Leghorns, the Leghorn-White Rock hybrid chicks that arrived were slightly more plump than their mothers but not so chunky as their father. One other thing was that Leghorn mothers are not that great as mothers go, so I would often lose chicks due to neglect. I had heard of White Jersey Giants and that their hens were great mothers so I really wanted to buy a few just before I was preparing for college but the timing wasn't on my side (especially since my brother wanted nothing more to do with chickens) so, that was that. I'm now in my '70's and I'll never be able to raise chickens anymore because (1) my wife and I live in an apartment now and despite owning a piece of vacant property (2) my village outlaws farm animals in residential areas. Perhaps since you've stated that you might want to pick up a few more chickens "Jersey Giants" might intrigue you? Read up on them I think you'll find them fascinating? P.S. I like the name Béatrixe for your heifer.
As a scottish person i love hearing you calling them coos.
I definitely want to see a garden tour! I can’t have animals but I’m growing veggies in my apartment.
Morgan keeps teasing us with the new barn. I'd like to see a map of your entire 160.acres and your five year plan on how you're going to expand (or not expand).
Farms around me have 2 or more dogs working together. You have split yours up. Abby is watching you and Toby. Two working together are a pleasure to watch. When one is drawn to a predator, the other stays with the animals they are protecting. A Coyote is a clever animal. While one is drawing the dog, the others will come in from another direction.
I loved the cat cam. Especially when she purred when she saw Toby. So sweet. Love your videos. He growth change in the goslings is crazy.
I could feel the joy you had being back first hand, welcome back. 👍
You could hear the huge joy and great love you have for your farm as you were speaking Morgan, and it's a truly beautiful thing. Watching you brushing Toby and just watching his body labguage, he was absolutely thrilled to be getting all that personal undecided attention. The reason I watch these videos you make Morgan is because of the amazing relationship and bond you have with your farm. You are so in tune with it. It gives me a sense of peace in a strange way. I find it relaxing to watch you interact with the fauna and flora of your land. You are such a chill guy and I love that. Thank you for bringing us into your world and life. God bless you and all those you love, no matter what form they take.
I'd love Allison to give us a garden tour and I wanna know everything she is willing to tell as long she doesn't feel like its forced. I think the best video is when she's passionate about the stuff she is talking about :)
Yes, please. It's always nice to see Alison. The raised beds look great!
So glad your farm is okay after the floods. I watched you visiting LA and talking about loneliness. I wish I knew you were here and wanted to give you a hug. But that is pretty creepy as we don't really know each other. So the best I can do is a mental hug with support perhaps? Oh and more weird chickens please.
pretty sure this was recorded before the flooding hit, no one in Vermont is saying we need the rain anymore.
@@kippers4u He did do a quick short clip saying they were okay. I know this is about 2 weeks behind so I did not base my comments on this.
You always make me feel like I’m getting a hug.
I think Abby might be really missing her pack .. that’s why she’s near the fence
I agree 😢
Can’t help but agree. Not much interaction up there with the rest of the farm.
Watching the Toby brushing made me curious. Are you still planning the Toby-fur sweater?
I was thinking the same thing
Beatrice looks like a fluffy dog!❤
I saw Alfred's latest video with his magnet, pink floaty thing, lol and his yearning for the large cracking boulders..love Alfred
I think Abby wants out of there!!! She misses being near you and Toby!
I really like these longer form (~30 min) videos. They feel more tranquil and like a more realistic look into what’s going on with the farm these days
These videos are such a joy. I watch over and over. Thank you! I had to giggle when you were talking about 68 degrees at 5:30 in the morning being hot. We had 93 degrees at 5:30 am. Again. And 108 when I went grocery shopping before noon. With wind gusts of 20 mph and relative humidity of 11%. (Phoenix) Yes! A garden tour would be great. The garden looks magnificent--her gardening style has really evolved. I'd like to hear Allison talk about what's new, and show us what she's planted.
It looks to me like Abby is close to the fence looking down at the farm (and not with the cows) because she would like to be there and closer to you....I know she has a job but i have to admit it hurts my heart to look down from the drone and see her lone figure in that huge field looking down the hill......
Its amazing and kind of satisfying just how much fur comes off toby when you brush him! I would honestly watch a video just of you brushing him.😆
That orchard in 10 yrs is going to be beautiful.
After reading about the flooding up in VT...I admit I was more than a bit worried about you and your farm...relieved to know everyone is doing well. I think my granddaughter would love your Toby Dog book...will have to keep an eye out for it when it prints.
The last time I checked your channel.was December Morgan. You look like you are really getting in shape, well done. The farm looks great too.
"We'll look on at her stealthily" The stealthy drone: "VRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!" 😂
It amazes me how intense the growth is in the summer in Vermont! It's impressive! I need to brush hog again too.
It’s so sweet to see you greet everyone! The happiness in your voice is wonderful and sooo relatable 💕
glad to see you home and the farm is intact. just saw on the news the flooding and had to come check right away.. thank you for your posts!
I love you explaining plans and such with the drone video, easy to see and follow!!
I’d love a garden tour. Love too see all the things she grows and any special varieties of something she loves.
Morgan thank you so much for sharing your life with us. If Allison is comfortable I would love a tour of her garden. As well as her reasoning behind her various plantings. Thanks again ❤
Cant handle the cuteness of the cat purring when interacted with Toby dog
My favourite part of Cat-Cam is when Ginny jumps easily & lands so softly, it’s like she can fly. (Not shown this time). Editor moment: you don’t bow in a curtsy, the closest you get is dropping your head or bobbing down & back up. The littlest goslings aren’t big enough to keep up, you had to rescue as least 5
Thank you for the info on the weed wacker! I was really becoming interested in knowing more about it (brand, type, power, etc.) just as you started to give us the rundown! And I would love a garden video. I would like to know what you've been using as fertilizer/minerals. Which company/store you get your seeds from and which have been the most reliable over the years. What grows best versus what you like to eat and what you have grown every year. What type of pest control do you use and are the flowers involved in that or are they just "for pretty"? Raised bed or ground preferred and why? How often do you have to come in and remove weeds and do you think that is acerbated by the amount of wild growth outside the garden or wildlife. Coming from a country versus city perspective of farming what are the pros/cons? Have you had any issues with stealing/damage/loss and can you address this as both for your farm garden AND your previous city garden (yes, I know they're probably different culprits--but are they really)? And if Allison is embarrassed, I wouldn't mind if she just held a printed list of questions and went over them while in the garden plot and you filmed her, Morgan. She's a beautiful person inside and out, but I don't want her to feel put upon so even if she doesn't want to be on video, you can fill us in after talking to her.
I was totally failing to keep flies under control with my quail, but when I took your approach using fly papers instead of sprays, got them under control. Sometimes the basic method works best.
Excited to see Alfred’s project on your farm!
When Abby walked away she was like “ I know dad”.😂
Glad your home Morgan, I think everyone missed you! Love the videos~
The piggly wigglies are so big! And thank you for the Jemima puddle duck page you showed us, makes me even more excited for the book!
Abby dog at the fence: Why am I being PUNISHED???
From Vermont myself and love watching these videos! Anything gardening is great from Allison!
I was wondering how the farm held up while you were gone last week. Glad your back, and other then a few puddles near your house, everything looks okay. Not okay for other towns with the disaster of the flooding and destruction in your state! Nice to see you brush Toby dog, it does help in the summer.
Everything so wonderful. Glad to have you back home.
Beatrix Potter was an English writer, illustrator, natural scientist, and conservationist. She is best known for her children's books, such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
Think goats. Having some laughter in your life is always a good thing.
Abby just looks from the very edge of the pasture down to the farm locations. I wonder if she would rather want to be down there?
The ducks got to be loving the grass lots of bugs and ticks
MORGAN....thank you for being you and sharing your amazing farm. It is my favorite thing to watch every weekend.....yes, I save them for the weekend. Because they are so calming 😂❤🎉😊
Hi grew up in NEK Vermont My grampa Waldo Aiken farm Haveys lake. Brothers and I spent most of our childhood at our grampa house. Michael, Jeffery, Brian, and I had great childhoods Born raised from NEK Vermont ❤ Thank you for videos of your farmstead Beautiful family
Glad to see the worst that seems to have happened to your farm from the rains is big puddles and tall grass. Love the kitty cam!
Hey Morgan, if you put all trees on the outside edges it will make your life so much easier. Also cut grass and bail it up for winter, you might find contractors can do this for you. Much ❤❤❤❤ for you man
27:30 Perhaps you could implement a small Helium Blimp with just a single small motor and rudder / elevator setup. That would be much quieter and disturb the farm animals less.
I agree with the one comment on Abby missing Toby cause they were together for so long and doesn’t understand why they are separated. She will adapt, give her more attention so she doesn’t feel like she’s been bad. Can Toby get to where she is so they can sniff each other.
i'm from scotland so hearing you say coos made me smile so much lol.
Yes, it would be great if she gave a garden tour.
Welcome home. I was thinking about you and the farm in light of hearing about the flooding up your way.
I'd love to hear Alison's take on the differences between farming in the city vs on the large property you two have now! For example: How was she able to narrow-down what to plant? Thanks guys!
If Allison is open to it, but I would love to see a video of growing her garden from the beginning to now and how it's grown. Anything she's learned or mistakes she changed ?! Would love to see videos of the garden overs the years !
It’s wild to see how much greenery has popped up in the bird yard since you’ve been keeping them on the pasture. Without them grazing and trampling it all down it has just gone crazy!
Garden tour! If she would like, I would enjoy knowing what is planted and how you might preserve and use them. I love garden tours! It is a tradition since my grandma and always brings such good memories :)
Animals will have plenty to graze. 🌱 It's always fun to vacation & and it's so nice to get back home..😊 ❤️ Toby & Abby
Don’t let the cats hear you say you love the dogs the most (the cats know the truth, you are a cat person at heart.)
That drone footage was sick! Really refreshing
