  • No rock or mineral is ever a waste. They're all beautiful in their own way. Wether we use them and cut and polish or if they're just sitting in my garden, or on my shelf.

  • That was awesome to watch!!! Being zero schooled in geology, I assume the straws you were talking about were the crystal looking lines? If so could they have become full fledged crystals in time? Nature is the most incredible thing ever. A nondescript rock on a beach turned into a beautiful piece in the hands of someone with the knowledge just amazes me. Thank you for sharing your passion!

    @enaidyeltneb369@enaidyeltneb369 Жыл бұрын
    • The straws in tbis stone used to be the crystals of another mineral, likely a zeolite. Quartz replaced the zeolite mineral but took the shape of the zeolite crystal and left behind a more durable mineral. A similar process to how petrified wood is formed.

    • Don't be put off! Anyone can learn this skill! It's not even hard exactly, just...fiddly, lol! It helps to have lot of attention to detail, a steady hand, and of course, LOTS of patience! Of course, the equipment that you see here is a bit of a killer....but you can do the same thing with much cheaper equipment. It'll just take a lot longer, is all. Better equipment just speeds up the process and makes it easier. See if there's a local lapidary club that you can check out. The people there are often super stoked to talk about their hobby and give you advice on how to start. :D
