  • The last PLS I had we called her Happy Hooker. Which the Commander wasn’t really happy with our call sign, but everyone kept using the name. I had one of those FRS (Forward Repair System) tool box that was loaded on the back. You should get one of those. That thing had every tool you need. From welders to plasma cutters and large compressor. But I was used to hook up to all loads from pallet to connex containers hence the name “hooker”. I was whored out to every mission. One thing to remember in the dead of winter that thing likes to throw belts off the Generator (alternator). Easy access though. It’s right behind the panel in the middle of the back of cab. And also get yourself an extra charge pipe after the turbo. When it’s cold it likes to blow a rip in them and you won’t get any boost. During a mission I ended up using two rolls of duct tape and 150 zip ties to get out of there to only hold 17psi of boost before it blew. She gets up to about 32psi. You should get yourself a few of those pallets (we call CROPs) and pre load your gear on them and have them ready just to pickup and go for any mission pick your CROP. They also have a trailer you can load using the hook arm with another container or CROP. To load containers you will have to have a CHU or ECHU (enhanced container handling unit) added to your PLS. That Tac4 suspension is a beast.

Not only does Allan have decades of knowledge regarding all things mechanical and machinery-related (which results in him being a great problem-solver), but he also possesses more fitness, strength and stamina than most of the young bucks there half his age too. I didn't see any of the other guys charging down the mountainside on foot whilst filming at the same time; no, they were sitting in their airconditioned SUVs playing with their drones.

The editing on your stuff is genious and super talented as it gets! There is no channel that puts it together as well as you guys! I love the humor and the attitudes of ALL you guys, you are impossible to match and that's a fact! I sit for hours watching all the back videos just to catch up, and for an old 78 year old that's pretty good! I would give anything to meet you guys someday, but not likely, so for now I will continue to enjoy all of you. Also, really good to see you all are God loving people. Bless you and be safe!

  • Hey guys! My hubby and I love your channel. You have some awesome videos. I watched 'Nearly lost my best friend' and I just wanted to give you both a 'momma hug (I'm 63 lol) I love how you are always helping folks. I would like you to do something for me. We've had some rough times and rode them out. Since 2017 I lost my job, then my home. I moved in with mt future husband, he was diagnosed with emphysema, he lost his job, and we lost the home we were renting. We had a 2 door Rav4 and our clothes. Then a teenage girl rearended us while she was texting. Then we just had our clothes. But God has our backs. We got a van. Moved up to an RV but had to sell the van. Now we are in a fifth wheel. We have a 1993 Cherokee that runs well. As soon as I figure out how to change 2 broken door latches and replace the brake light switch and put the window back on track it will be golden. We are blessed. There is one thing more and I would feel pretty satisfied. Could you please stop blasting the music on your videos!? Dang son, I'm wearing out the volume button. You may have possibly gone a bit overboard with it.

I feel like even the dozer you guys dug out that was washed into the ground in a flood, while it took longer to dig it out, was still far easier to pull even with the locked up tracks.

  • Guys. A word of the wise from a professional mechanic. Don't ever pull anything from the front of the tow vehicle. Not only can your rigging come back through the window and kill you. The front suspension cannot handle the weight. And the ring and pinion in your differential are smaller then the rear. Also the gears are fully worn in, going forward but not backwards. The Pinion gets pulled away into the ring gear.

    • I was a military mechanic on heavy equipment like this and was also battalion level recovery expert… for the small pulls and jerks to get this moving this isn’t going to hurt anything. I do agree with the front pull though… it could be fine in a short distance low resistance tow… but there was nothing to gain vs the risk in this situation.

  • That Deca-Pull got the job done. Perhaps a slight tug up-hill would have freed the tracks? It was clearly in a downhill bind at the time of stalemate. Transmission was likely bound in gear, regardless of selector position. That Deca-Puller and an old M88 are in unsurpassable duo with a few decent brains behind the op. Really enjoying the vids. You guys ever down in Oklahoma, look me up. I'm an Army veteran, jack of all trades, (CDL, welding, carpentry, HVY mach, grill master, in-depth big-brain-problem solver, and a Class 7 FFL) I'd love to help out some time.

Got the transmission stuck on a steep incline a few years back on an old look out tower road. Pull the floor panel, tap gently on this and that and it might come loose. Mine has the side mounted fuel tank. Love your videos, be safe out there.

    • Right but you're not seeing or understanding what the OSHKOSH is and what it's abilities are compared to a lot of tracked equipment. That OSHKOSH can yank an M1A1 around, it's capable of recoveries of a lot equipment double it's weight. I've been around them most of my military career as an infantry and tanker and they are far more than what you think they are.
