      @DarrenBoxhall@DarrenBoxhall11 ай бұрын
    • @@DarrenBoxhall like any engine, tune it properly, do the right mods, and 200hp is reliable. The factory bottom end of the ZD is much better than the 4J. Most ZD’s come in at about 100hp on a roller dyno, the factory boost control lets it down and causes a lot of issues with a bigger exhaust and an EGR block. The EGR issue can be fixed by disabling it in the ECU, and manual boost control fixes the boost bounce. I get that maybe you’re brand loyal or whatever, but maybe talk to people who know the engines, maybe you’ll be surprised.

      @ethanpicken6992@ethanpicken699211 ай бұрын
  • I dont think its a crank, thats just not how they normally break. They break from the maincaps stretching and moving after a long period of driving above standard power and nearly every case they break you can see the front balancer shaking and spitting oil through the front main. It just seems very unlikely for that to break at 200hp on the first pull, theres people running 400hp for years before the crank breaks and they are all paired with manuals autos seem to help them last longer. Also if for some strange reason it is the crank you cant just replace the crank with a billet one you must do billet maincaps as well otherwise you will simply snap your new billet crank at around the same power level

    • They use the 4j in the lighter duty npr trucks with 6.5 tone gvm. I promise you its not working hard, if you ever take apart a 4j and compare it to other similar classed diesels everything is huge compared to its competition. I dare say they havent snapped the crank (i could be wrong but)

      @chipchip48@chipchip4811 ай бұрын
    • @@chipchip48 but in the trucks they use different parts and shit for em, not a high power. But like I said, in my opinion, not good for patrols and cruisers. Good for dmaxes, my dad has a dmax, and as much as it is a shit box it goes well up hills, but the car is complete crap and the turbo is fucked already 😂

      @kadenmackriell4751@kadenmackriell475111 ай бұрын
    • @@kadenmackriell4751 the trucks use the exact same engine the only difference is the alternator location and size, and you bring up patrols so im assuming your trying to compare it to the td42 so lets go over some fun facts. The 4jj1 makes more torque and hp then any model of td42 ever produced and it makes that torque at 1600rpm so anything above 1600rpm it makes more power then a td42 while also using maybe 2/3rds the fuel

      @chipchip48@chipchip4811 ай бұрын
    • @@chipchip48 so your saying it’s the exact same motor? It can power a 6t truck but struggles to tow an ultimate campers camper trailer, 🤔. Makes sense. Maybe it makes more power then a td42 which is shit anyway but to make 250hp, you won’t have it for very long, and he didn’t have it for very long. I get that this time it might not be from the power and it’s most likely not, but it’s the same thing with a 1kd, sure you can do it, but it’s not worth it, again in my opinion.
