They are made this way they will stay polished forever and will never rust it's coated with WIDIA. Developed in the early twentieth century, this was the trade name for an amazingly hard material with a crucial main component: tungsten carbide. The name is an acronym for wie Diamant, which is German for “like diamond.”

@@cooldaddyslick6869 why you so mad? Who cares if he spelled it wrong. I bet you’re fun at parties 🎉
Grammar could use some polishing… I think I know a guy😅
@Cooldaddy Slick In this case, he might be more correct the way he spelled it. With rotors that smooth, he'll likely do more breaking than braking.
That's standard operation at my shop, I always buff and polish new rotors before installing them! They must last awhile because we never see the customers again..
For those who don’t know this is a joke or to those who are curious, Porsche have developed a disc technology called PSCB or Porsche Surface Coated Brakes where this finish is how the discs come brand new with the special shiny coating pre-applied and on Porsches fitted with PSCB discs the callipers are painted white as apposed to red for normal steel discs or yellow for when the discs are carbon ceramic.
Thanks for the info, here's a video explaining how it works kzhead.info/sun/jaejaJeXrHhvl30/bejne.html
Thanks, I wasn't sure if the picking the nose was a give-away that he was ape-shitting\ pranking us.😧
Didn't know this was a thing I was going to leave a serious negative comment 😂
Thanks for that. Most of these mechanics KZhead shorts are a huge inside joke for people who spend all day talking about cars.
Well, the first time he brakes, this shiny finish will be gone anyway. So it doesn't make a difference right?
Best way to keep those polished is to keep greasing the brake pads.
WRONG, wrong wrong! Professionals grease the brake pedal... not the pads!
@@jayr6637 r/woosh
@@jayr6637 did you really woosh the comment about greasing a brake pedal? It would give the same effect as a greased rotor.

I heard they are a line-less, Bluetooth braking system
right, totally forgot about these still seems kinda silly to me, especially considering that a single rotor cost as much as my used car including a turbo, rear axle and many, many other parts
@American Stoic Wrong again Sir Watson! A single front rotor can go for as much as 3000$. And yes, that's actually more than I paid for my used car with replacement parts including the aformentioned turbocharger and rear axle.
@American Stoic you looked up the pricing for standard cast iron brake systems, please be more thorough when doing your research in the future dear Mr. Watson.
@@nathanwest2304 While you are correct, the PSCB brake replacement is $12K compared to PCCB at $24K. And PSCB lasts 30% longer than steel and brakes nearly as good as PCCB.

In full video the brake pads were polished too. Beautiful
Oh my god that's hilarious 🤣 It's so shiny it acts exactly like ice, because who needs brakes?! they just slow you down!
fun fact, on a bike rim, polished brake surfaces work better than raw alloy.
espessially chrome rims…
They're actually meant to look like that. They're Tungsten coated. They don't dust or rust and help with brake fade. They're also cheaper than carbon ceramic. The mirror-like surface is normal when brand new.

@@aaliasb. yes. called flash rust But anyway, the ones on the video are not polished. It's the normal finish of those porsche brakes
@@aaliasb. No. The original commenter doesn't know what he's talking about. Polished metal has a much higher resistance to rust due to there being less irregularities in the surface where rust can form and adhere to.

The Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB). Tungsten carbide coating as seen on the Porsche Taycan.
I was gonna say the same, I work on them they look like that mwhahahah
I love the nose-pick in the reflection, great touch. those are the cool coated porsche rotors that barely wear down, right?
To finish it off, maybe a little Turtle Wax would be appropriate.
That also have terrible brake pads to do the slip
Yeah I think those are the tungsten carbide ones. Pretty cool
Absolute perfection, now they'll last forever lol.
They’ll last until the end of the owner’s life
Yea rite!
I also like to polish mine to reduce friction as much as possible. I usually finish them off by adding a light coat of gear oil to prevent them from rusting, they never squeak!
Rotors so shiny that everyone gets to see you pick your nose.
They do look awesome, just tell your customer to never hit the brakes so they stay that way
Why would ya need brakes in a car like that? U go either go all the way down or not at all
Those are actually Porsche’s PSCB brakes and that’s how they are supposed to look. It’s a cast iron rotor with a layer of tungsten carbide. They are awesome and have reduced brake dust front the rotors because of it.
I'd pay north of 3 grand for less brake dust and a marginal increase in pad life.

I love how everyone is focused on the nose pic but not on the technical aspect. 90% of the time unless your pads are completely worn out glazed or quote on quote polished is what leads to squeaking squealing breaks A lot of the time to remedy this we scuff up the rotors a little bit so that instead of grazing a long enough they actually have something to grab to
