Feature Update: In Orcaslicer 2.0 you can now directly upload to the printer! No SD cards needed!
Man, the features that modern printers have is incredible. We've come a long way in a relatively short time.
Indeed, my good man
It took Bambu to get these other mfg. to step it up or go out of business..
@@judd_s5643 I wouldn't credit Bambu directly there were a lot of things that came together about when Bambu came out. Klipper is the thing that changed the speed of most printers.
I really like that you run through the same suite of prints every time, and the methodical fashion you do it in. Really gives a good idea of where a printer stands compared to other printers. Keep up the great work!
this one is much better than creality
That quick release nozel change just blew my mind 🤯✌️
Not seen the a1 mini then
@@nickjeffrey8050 yes I have pre ordered one with the AMS but didn't know that had a quick release either so mind officially blown again 🤯🤯🤯🤯👍
It´s a shame this is their own patent and at the same time they use Klipper and basically abuse the license, they are really scummy.
Its nowhere near as good as the Flashforge nozzle change. Bambu actually tried to buy the rights to use the Flashforge quick change nozzles and they were turned down@@nickjeffrey8050
I was interested in this printer but decided to go with the k1. I do like it more. However, the fact that Flashforge used klipper and locked it down and then told everyone it was not klipper turned me off. Now, creality was not much better, mind you, but eventually gave in and gave us root access. Once they did that, I picked one up. The crazy sales also helped. Lol. I have had it now for about a week and I am very happy with it. Once you unlock and install full mainsail or fluidd, it is an amazing printer. I use Orca slicer, and it's now a beast of a little printer. The k1 has now turned into my favorite go-to printer, and I have 4 printers. Keep up the great work, Aurora. You are my favorite review channel by far and are the most objecting and detailed reviewer out there. Thanks
Now its open source bruh you need yo download it
Your tests and comparisons are very very handy and informative!
Great review as always. Loved the blooper at the end. Got a great laugh out of that. Thanks for including it 🙂
hope they pay close attention to your feedback. Thanks for the thorough review, again !
I love the color of the sample filament that came with it.
Thank you for the review. I was seriously considering one of these until I found out that they had locked down Klipper, and made it impossible to print over the LAN without using their slicer. What's more, you cannot even import a gcode file from Orca into their slicer to upload. Given that they are openly disrespecting the very open source software community that they are benefitting from, I voted with my wallet and it was a hard pass.
Same, pass
Just like Bambu. But on the Bambu it is okay and innovative.
@@umbertoGE I can't decide if you're being sarcastic or not. I don't own a BambuLab, and I don't think I ever will, all because their closed source nature, as well as their privacy policies. Frankly I'm not even sure how they can operate in Europe as they are not GDPR compliant as users are not able to see what information the printer and their software is sending back to BambuLab.
@@umbertoGEBambu is most likely closed source to keep companies from robbing their lidar and linear/pressure advance calibration algorithms. They probably dumped millions into just the R&d for that so they want that kept secret. It'll most likely be open source eventually.
@@RathOXlol nope. That’s not true. If you print over lan, it is extremely limited.
This is absolutely one of the best printer preview videos I have ever seen.. incredible job at keeping it very scientific, useful but not boring!
I absoluely love your review. Been browsing around for reviews of this printer for a couple of days. This seems the most comprehensive one. Honestly considering, getting this printer at the moment.
Hi Aurora, great job, thanks. Nice bloopers at the end, good to see change of character. -Dino
Fantastic review again!!!
Hi i discovered your channel yesterday ! Great job it's very usefull. Thank a lot !
This is by far the best review channel! I always look forward to the next one and this was exactly the printer I was hoping to see, thanks so much!
TOTALLY agree. It blows my mind that there are only 66.7k subscribers.
You are great at this! Thanks for the info.
WoW best review I have seen, just bought the non pro version of this printer.
Thanks for such in depth and informative reviews. As a KZheadr I realize how much work it takes. This video helped me so much to make my decision on this printer. thank you
THERE IS A HACKED VERSION IF ORCA SLICER THAT NOW ALLOWS WIRELESS PRINTING TO YOUR AD5 OR AD5 PRO FROM ORCA SLICER!!
I only have 1 printer so far.. as I am new to the hobby. I love all your reviews, I own the Snapmaker J1 Idex printer, It's working so far for me and my kids, but I want to master and learning everything about maintenance and filaments and how to adjust settings the different materials. Thank you for your reviews which it helps me research before purchasing my 2nd 3d printer. I just watched your video on the snapmaker 3 n 1 enclosed machine.
Awesome review! A lot to learn for me (about the printer and also on how to test 3d printers ;)
super vidéo merci j'ai reçu la mienne aujoud'hui
550 is really a good Deal Thanks for the review
Thanks, like always, a great detailed and honest review. My only concern is the 280c max temp hot end, I would prefer 300c.
Pardon me for a general question, but are you on Patreon or any monetizing platform so users can support your videos? You are my favorite tech reviewer because you are so thorough and you make the specs meaningful to me as a novice with your well-chosen examples and comparisons. You are your brother are doing awesome work. Great production quality.
❤ amazing review 😮
You have done it again! An amazing review highlighting the hardware features including the 0.6mm dia. hardened nozzle - speed anyone? I am not sure how many of your viewers recognize/understand your expert level of software and coding experience; I do hope so. Again, if Flash Forge listen, the next release should get these "cons" sorted. I don't think the loss of 30mm in Z axis is as big an issue as you but your point is taken. To me, this printer is a candidate for a prototype fast printer with the 0.6 mm nozzle with engineering grade filaments but it might be awkward given the code cloak.
Hi. It's a very good closed core XY printer. All the prints are very nice. And the price is not to heavy. Thank you for this testimony.
I ordered a K1 yeasterday then stumbled across this! But like others without Open Source I'm out, the only reason I dropped the hammer on the K1 was the enclosure and them releasing the Open Source firmware. You've moved reviewing products to a new level, thank you, I'm not purchasing anything else without checking Aurora Tech.
You can open source
The Flashforge is open source now.
What a difference between this review done by someone who knows what they are talking about and the rest of them done by the so-called "tech-influencers". Thank you, this video provided incredible support for a new user.
After speaking to the flashforge it seems that we will get wifi printing available on orca slicer in the near future. I have been using the adventurer 5m for the last couple of weeks and even with the issues raised in the video I can still highly recommend it. For the price its an amazing machine. 😊
Say no more! You've convinced me! lol Mine will be delivered Sunday :) I'd say for the feature set and price, it rivals my Bambu Labs P1P. Def looking forward to doing some printing on this beast!
Sadly flashforge is abusing open source and the klipper license. That alone is enough to say NO! to this printer.
Great vid as always 👍🏻 Do you have any idea when you will test the new Flsun printers?
This printer is extremely impressive for the price. If they open up which slicers you can use, it will be a killer choice. Especially whenever it has a sale. Great review!
You can do that for the slicer
@@alxalx5501 Yeah they opened up the firmware implementation which is great. Not super well supported yet though.
Another great video as always
Would be interested to see you re-review this one now that there have been several firmware updates and a branch of Orcaslicer that lets you print over the network. Apparently there is also a klipper version available for it now too. Either way really appreciate your format for reviews; your reviews are very helpful.
fantastic video you make sure all about things, top. I have a problem with my extruder it was not working..... what can i make seloution this problem? the nozzle was free of filament.
great video, fantastic build comparison section n I luv the bloopers. as someone who doesn't yet own a 3d printer, how would someone print multiple colours with this printer? can it even be done?
I really like that stylus you use on the touch screen. I need to get me one of those because I hate dirty LCD screens. Not sure what makes this printer stand out in the crowd but it certainly has it's work cut out for it.
It's just a 1.5mm ball head hex driver which I use it to unclog nozzles :)
Hello, thank you for your informative videos. Please, if possible, make a specific and detailed video about Marlin customization. Thank you.
hey hope you have a marry christmas my friend
Hi please make comparison video with k1c 😊 appreciate that
Waiting for you to test the Ender 3 V3 KE
I found the glue is not necessary if you increase the build plate temperature for pla. They have it only at 50c. Going to 60 or 65 is rock solid. And I got the non pro version, which is just as fast and merely lacks the enclosure (which they provide the stls to print your own), camera (which I found for $25 from their site), and that nice filtration and only a single nozzle, for $299. And there is a modified version of orca slicer that can wirelessly send to it. Very impressed.
I don't see this video in "3D Printer Price Tracker & Comparison (FDM)". Sorry if this has been answered somewhere in the 190 comments. Thank you, you are my go to for videos in my search for a 3D printer.
Thanks for Your detailed reviews 😊 I would Like to bring it on my Channel too one day 💪
You should start using the same color for the same model, i couldnt see most of the benchy in that sample color and the robo-alpaca is not just the color but some are matt which hides layer defects much better
Should be using the exact same filament among all printers for most accurate results as filaments really vary in quality/ flow/ temps etc.
Finally!
They just released Klipper for the adventure M5 series
Came to say the same thing. Big step forward! Would love to see reviews of it with vanilla Klipper and/or mods.
Hey I watch all your videos. I'm also in Orange County haha. Anyways, I really love that flashforge filament. I bought the titanium randomly and got some of the most dimensionally accurate prints ever on my kickstarter (bambooo) x1c haha. But ya people should know it's good stuff. Also, voxel, just down the road from us makes the absolute cleanest PLA I've come across. It's just like magic! What do you think?
We have had this printer for a couple months. Been good, flash print is terrible really and Orca is almost perfect. For the FW, it’s definitely running klipper and in clear violation of the GPL. It’s missing moonraker to print from Orca at the moment.
Really hope they will be forced to open up their Klipper, this really is scummy.
@@sierraecho884 Same, but based off the last communication they have ZERO intentions currently to do so.
@@FDMJunkies Yeah I know. I mean they are all the same in that regard what do you expect ? Creality is the same they tried to weasel their way out, Bambu does that too, they collect all your private information and probably send it straight to the CCP (that´s why they also lock everything and make you use their cloud etc.) and Flashforge is kind of the same. This really sucks since their 5M is only 400€. It basically has all the great features as the Pro minus the additional part cooling fan and the enclosure. 400€ Is a steal for a machine like that. Really makes me mad.
i really wanted to buy this printer, but yt reviewers are hating it because of the close source klipper? but fior price and function, and comparing the benchy quality, its better than the bambus
I have the AD5M (non-pro), got it a couple of days ago and love it. I feel like the only downside compared to the pro is the lack of enclosure, which can be custom made if you really want it, and not necessary for most materials, and the lack of camera. Which you can get one and hook up to the USB port and view from your PC if you have a webcam laying around. I feel like at the price point, it's pretty hard to do better. Being a Core XY with a very solid frame, this thing runs circles around my M5C, and it would be an insult to it's honor to even compare to other the other printers I've owned. Also I really like that pen holder that looks like a set of tires, if anybody knows where I could get the STL, I would appreciate it 😅
Hi there! As always, awesome review!! Question... is there any way to acces the klipper from the network? Thanks!!
No, it's closed source, no Moonraker, fluidd or mainsail.
@@AuroraTech :( Thanks!!
12:00 Because it has underextrusion. If u manually command to extrude 100mm lenght of filament from service menu printer then extrude only 97 mm of filament.
You can’t beat this printer for the money
If they release a max version with atleast 300mm x 300mm x 300mm build volume I'll buy it.
I have this printer for a couple of weeks, and it is a pleasure to print any filament with it. I agree with the cons on software side and expect FlashForge to make the necessary upgrades in the near future to make this good machine to one of the best in the market in its segment. Will recommend anyone who have second thought. Thank you for the review Aurora Tech!
My biggest complaint is the 220mm height and the locked Klipper. Even if they just would open Klipper so I can use it with my Orca Slicer over network this would be already the best machine for the price on the marked even with the more expensive Nozzles. I also really don´t get why they wouldn´t increase the height, they could have gone up to 260mm and this would be a selling point, it basically doesn´t cost anything to do so, the slighly longer profiles etc are in the cents range for material costs.
Quick question - for your cube / cylinder tolerance test, have you tried using different slicers? I’ve found that my own tolerances can vary between slicers, and that Prusa Slicer tends to be the most consistent. As always, another excellent review, thank you!
Oh, that's quite interesting. I'll try it out
@@ShockwaveAviation yeah, when I slice something in Cura Slicer, my parts almost never fit. But the exact same STL sliced in Prusa Slicer, it’s always a near perfect fit. This is especially true for nuts and bolts.
Yes, Prusa Slicer (or forks) are better in accuracy than Cura (or forks).
Could you help to advise me for FF 5M Pro and Creality K1 Max for print quality result? I'm selecting to buy one.
Ender 3 v3 ke review video
Can i print with normal pla for speed ? Or must use hyperspeed pla?
Is that flashforges burnt titanium
not in your "3D Printer (FDM) Recommendation List" ? Why ?
The real issue is that it’s in the exact same price range as the Bambu P1S.
That right there
Amazing channel and great effort to bring light to the world of 3d machines. I study this printer and looked like it is "the one", i was considering it not for the crazy speed but for the advertised low noise and air filtration. I was willing to sacrifice some speed for the low noise ....but it seems this is not the case. I would greatly apreciate if there can be tested various settings for "quaiet speeds" and the quality of air complemented by a very thorough ranking for under 40db with no squiks or wislles....it could attract a lot of niche clients. Thank you for your great effort :)
Its not "klipper style fw" its really klipper and they violating GPL V3 license like creality did at the beginning with their K1's
Yup. And they seem to think people won't notice. That is why I went with the k1 once creality smartened up and caved in to our pressure. That printer with full functional klipper is great.
@@AndyRC yes i also got a K1 and the crazy prices helped, but i was really interested in this one.. pity the route they decided to take on klipper, and i hope they change but from what i have read from them, they are even worse than creality in this subjects of fw's and open source!
@LuisG-SC I agree. The biggest turn off was the lack of wifi with other slicers. That and the z hight. Maybe they will learn like creality did but I doubt it. They all want to follow bambu but the issue is their software is no where near close to it. And the type that want bambu will continue to buy them. So flashforge should have done their market research. If they would have they would have gone for a bit bigger, enabled moonraker for all slicers and let us decide on whether we want to unlock the software. Oh and followed the rules for open software. Shame on them.
@@AndyRC Totally agree with you.
bonjour Aurora, que faut-il réellement faire quand on change de buse exemple 0.4-> 0.25 etc... merci beaucoup
Excellent review 😀 random question but can you share your models you tested out on this video ? Pla sheet
It's just a box :) I resized it 200x200x0.2mm to match the layer height.
Missing the link to their website.
You didn’t like the plastic direct drive gears on the Creality…are the plastic or metal on this machine?
It should be possible to insert Gcode into the beginning of the file to force a re-leveling of the bed/nozzle.
If it uses standard Klipper, yes. But it's a close source firmware, have no idea what they name the macro for z-offset setting.
@@AuroraTech If the Gcode is Marlin compatible, it might be the same as what Marlin uses.
When printing from sdcard you can choose to have it level before every print.
after making 3d figures can we sell that figures in market?
❤❤❤
So, do you recommend it? or not?
Although many tinkerers like to spend time working with the printer, I am of the camp that spends time on my design and want simple send and print. What slicer it uses is not that important to me as long as it takes minimal time to set up the print and it achieves the print. This one is getting serious consideration from me. Looks like the proprietary slicer is the way to go for less hassle. Thanks for the great in depth review.
Interesting about the thumbnail pics as the non pro I had was correct
please tell me how big the holes in this box are, I have a problem with my p1s, it prints 1mm holes for the wall great, but at the bottom tragically more and more it sticks completely
I'm still researching and deciding on my first 3d printer. My first choice would be the X1C, followed by P1S and then i think this FlashForge. It's pretty impressive especially for these price.
I don't have a Bambu because I have a couple printers already. The P1S with AMS will be my next printer.
I have had different printers through the years, when I got the X1C, my other printers were all outdated over night, nothing equals the bambu. I am not saying bambu is perfect or the only thing out there, but you will not regret it, if you buy one.
@@TRABWorkshop-ri4ql quite a few equal or better the bambu, but you have to build them, or pony up more money for them.
@@jeremyglover5541 I agree, but for people like me, who want the printed parts for engineering stuff as fast and easy (and cheap) as possible, and not want to mess around with the printer, the bambu have been a game changer for me. But if something better comes up in a few years I have no loyalty to bambu, the new top printer from FLsun looks very interesting as well, I have the V400 that is very capable if you put in the time to dial it in, the new printers should come with their own slicer, that could make it a true competitor to bambu, maybe even on some points.
@@jeremyglover5541 Which would you point to as better?
in 1kg filament how mang mm figures na made
Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo , aller vous essayer la petite sœur par la suite qui est la 5M ?? merci a vous ......
The 3D community owes a huge Thanks to Bambu Labs. As another obvious clone of the X1C that's a good value with great performance. The quick change nozzle is a nice touch that I would like to see Bambu offer. We as users are the winners with all of these new high speed printers. Well done Aurora, and whats his name..
You could say we all owe it to Vorons...
@@cameltoastnot really Bambu swept the field of available technology, added some of theirs own. integrated it into a appliance for the mass’s. It is one thing to create a device in the lab it’s entirely another to bring it to market and sell it to no technical customers.
@@judd_s5643 and then used it as a way to skim IP from all of their customers ...
thats exactly what I would say@@cameltoast and klipper. people act like bambu are groundbreaking. the AMS is the only thing that is unique to them and you wouldnt catch me using it for anything except housing multiple rolls of the same filament. its incredibly wasteful and a massive time sink. Its true Bambu did scour the world for good ideas and package them well, but they did so at a suspiciously low cost and you only have to look as far as the slicer and network security to find the answer how its that cheap ...
Man, all the commenters in this comment section acting like enclosed printers, CoreXY, 3 screw Z-axis for beds (not independently driven on Bambu though), and input shaping didn't exist before BambuLabs came along. All of this stuff was on RatRigs and Voron Tridents long before, and specific elements were on other manufacturer's printers as well. While BambuLabs may have been the first commercially successful company to package a number of pre-existing open-source technologies together, excepting for perhaps their specific AMS system, all of their technology is entirely derivative and predates the release of their printers by many years. The reality is that the 3D printing community owes its thanks to all the hardworking innovators who developed this stuff openly such that various companies were able to use said technologies to provide for mass market adoption.
I wish companies would not put the spool holders on the rear of the machine.
Can you share the file for your tolerance test?
I am in doubt between these two printers, the Creality K1 or the Flashforge 5m Pro, which one would you recommend? Thank you.
Which one did you chose? I’m in the same boat
So currently? K1C or 5M pro? Both are similar in price (K1C=550 euros vs 5M pro 530 euros)..
Hello. Tell me which printer is better to buy today. Is the choice between Creality K1C and FlashForge Adventurer 5M PRO? Please help me with the choice
Please visit my recommendation list at auroratechchannel.com
The better bet is to get the 5M Non Pro. its only $299 and is just missing the fan and enclosure...thats the only difference. and you can buy the fan and also print the enclosure and buy the plastic door and hood if you want.
Build a Voron then do a comparison!!
What tenp is your garage at night? Trying to determine if I can print in my garage.
around 57F or 14C
Sure, "proprietary firmware" my ass. They took Klipper and they called it their own, keeping the code closed. They don't deserve any respect or money.
"K1C vs 5M pro" Guys, which one will you buy if you should choose one of only two printers?
8:04 - "WiFi is not supported if you are not using FlashPrint." FAIL I expected this printer to be twice the price from FlashForge so kudos for delivering a fast printer with excellent print quality (solid hardware design plus input shaping) at such a competitive price, but the 5M Pro would really shine if it used standard Klipper with all of those advantages, including printing easily over WiFi from PrusaSlicer or a Fluidd web browser tab. Impressive number slider, ABS crate, TPU wallet and clearance test prints. The 5M Pro definitely has the goods and the hardware is very capable. It's a shame it's limited by proprietary firmware.
Can anyone comment if they've since addressed any of the software issues mentioned in this review?
I had one of these for a couple weeks. Every print I tried to slice using variable layer height in orca slicer failed by coming un-stuck from the bed. I returned it and got a Prusa mini and only had one failed print because the filament was stuck together on the roll.
If they allowed this to be flashed to stock Klipper, I would definitely consider it. As is though, nope
