Welcome to my 2009 Corvette C6 Z06. In this series we're going to get to know this sports car, from it's design, its 7 liter LS7 engine, it's TR6060 transmission and everything else everyone loves and hates. We're putting it up against the Camaro ZL1 1LE, the Honda S2000 and we'll compare it to other cars like the Viper, the Porsche 911 and more.

  • Congratulations on the C6Z bud. Beautiful car that's re-written the history books as to what a sports car should be. I'll have one someday myself, just have to find the right one for the price. Looking forward to future content with this beauty. Just a quick Vette talk. The 71 C3 Corvette could have come with the LS6 7.4L 454 in 1971 but it only put down 425hp and 475ft-lbs of torque. That was the largest "factory" engine ever put into a Corvette. The LS7 7.0L is my all-time favorite engine GM has ever put under the hood of the Vette.

The heads were addressed which was a decision factor. The only thing I'm adding is some satin black GM Cup Wheels. It's a total blast to drive and demands respect. Great vid and congrats!

  • Excellent choice the torque is addicting in these.The Top Gear episode he goes 0-170 mph staying in 5th gear only is testament to this. I think to beat out the ZL1 1LE you need a C6 ZR1 or decent amount mods on Z06

I bought a spare set of heads, took them to a highly regarded local shop, including Manley super duty Inconel valves (guides, seats cut, assembled) cost me $1600. Installed myself, some gaskets and a bunch of scraped knuckles later, runs great. Got a Monster triple clutch and Magnuson Heartbeat blower going on next week. More scraped knuckles I bet. I love this car, greater than the sum of its parts... and it doesn't need the blower, it's quite fast stock.

I don’t think cartoonish is the right word, it’s more exotic and angular, a C6 looks a little bland next to it. C6 also has a cheaper looking interior and that bubble hatch looks simple compared to the hatch on the C7

    @diegohooker@diegohooker5 ай бұрын
    • Comparing what? This car is very quick (if you can get traction). Lateral grip is incredible due to some of the widest OEM tires on a car less than $100K (when new). It can get almost get 29mpg on the freeway (if you drive responsibly). It can carry a lot of cargo (like a lawnmower). I'd say that the M3 is probably a better daily driver though with better steering feel.

      @newbiemike@newbiemike5 ай бұрын
    • There is no comparison. I've owned both! Z06 is in another category. Both have concerns. ZO6 is valve train. M3 V8 is bearings etc.

  • My DD is a black C6Z with silver C7Z wheels (they make the car looks so much better). Since you compared it, I do also have a B&W 96 UGR TT Viper GTS. They are actually very similar cars to a degree. I mean GM completely benchmarked the C6Z against the Viper, they even adopted many of the Viper's styling cues. The GTS is sexier, if not forever timeless, and has soooo much personality (good and bad). The vette is more refined and livable. Obviously different price points now, but the vette is the one you want to marry, the GTS is the one you want to cheat on your wife with... frequently! 😉

That is why some make it to 10,000km and others 100,000km before failure. Shop I had mine done at, has had many failures come in. Most stock engines, with most of those complete losses :-( Most broken valves took place when running along in low RPM and applying throttle modesty, but not harsh. Valve snap and done. Can't get a new LS7 now from GM. Please research, you and your car deserve it. Cheers from Canada.
