At least she had the sense to not try touching again unlike Jasper. It’s a good thing Eva put Jasper in as an exception or else he’d have met the final death by now. The amount of times he doesn’t have aggravated damage is so few.

As a guy who was in high school in the early 90's I can say this episode was the most 90's goth kid fan storyline and I love your summary it fits so perfect.

The cast and the acting is the only thing that keeps me watching, it's amazing. The game/storyline itself is not great, but it balances out.
Jasper: I have no bigger secrets than the fact I am a cannibal and a serial killer. Well, except that I'm also a diablerist, but I'm not gonna tell you that part. Eva: It's okay. I'm a drug addict and my mom is my ex-girlfriend who works for the Camarilla.

Jasper and Eva make such a powerful pairing symbolically and their respective colouration emphasize a very FW Murnau aesthetic. Best of all though, any scene with Alex and Josephine is made eminently watchable.

@@soulxwave09 they can make ghouls they just cant make bonded ghouls(easily at least, it is still possible for a tremere to bond a mortal but never kindred). But an unbonded ghoul is still very much a ghoul they gain all the same power.
Jasper and Eva are by far my favorite couple in the history of ever. How pure does love have to be for someone to fall for a rotting carcass looking, sewer smelling, vamp eating, Nosferatu? And yes I know that this is Jasper we're talking about but still. Could you imagine if this was how twilight went? It might have actually been good.

Josephine is just so incredible to watch!!! Her shock and near panic at Katya’s appearance and then the heartbreaking “No, no, no.” When Katya touches the wards and burns. Just so perfect!
Why does every Eva and Jasper epilogue involve a former lover of one of them? It is a love square by now. Yet, the Java ship is strong and still sailing. May it never sink.
I think I'd pay good money to see a few flashbacks of what Eva and Jasper looked like "before"

I truly adore how we slowly learn more about who Eva is and was in life, every tidbit of information is like a puzzle piece making more and more sense until we gaze at a tragic picture of a colorful, pacifist flower girl.
Spoilers . . . . . . . Jasper: "She is awful!!" Eva: "She is fighting darkness just like we all are..." Jasper: "Yeah... It seems she is fighting the usual way... *By failing*." DAMN, SON.
Jasper was on 🔥🔥🔥. We're going to need a looot of popcorn for s4.

Jasper needs to remember what Annabelle told him. There is No "I" in Team. Jasper needs to take Nelli G, Annabelle & Victor at least if Not more to protect Eva, because Strauss is too Powerful for them to Defeat alone.

I love how she tries to play the former damsel in distress, then the worried mother, and then when Jasper calls out on her bullshit she just goes full rage worse than a Bruha for a couple of seconds before remembering she's there to charm Eva.
Katya was playing the damsel in distress, the concerned mother, and then she transformed into a rage monster quicker than a Brujah.
Yeah one minute you are thinking it is a "leg over" next minute someone hacks his leg off. :)

Yeah sort of like Jasper willing to give her a chance and realising it probably is better to give her a stake through the heart.
So, it appears Eva got some of Jasper's blood so she could make an exception to her ward. Loved it when Katya got burned. :)
I'm so happy we got to see how Eva handled how Jasper ate and not Annabelle. That would've been painful to watch the overreaction.

He doesn’t get to be very old if he isn’t that devious, especially for a Tremere that might have been embraced during the clan’s more unstable beginnings.
VandalAudi True, but his arrogance will lead to his demise. As it is Clan Lasombra are firmly entrenched in the LA Camarilla. They play for keeps. If Strauss focuses on petty torments he’s going to end up dust.
@@mikegould6590 from his characterization in VtM bloodlines, nothing about Strauss is petty, it might seem petty, but he is the Xanatos gambit mastermind type. And he's not above from admitting that somethings are just way ovet his head, unlike the late Lacroix. As it is Strauss' play using Eva sire is not a powerplay within the Camarilla, but for the good of the Tremere itself, since Houses Carna and Goratrix now made up the new pyramid. The former a break off of the old pyramid, and the latter the ex Sabbat Tremere antittibu (which is ironic if the rumors about the leader is true). Clan Tremere loyalties are always to the clan first, sect second, so if anything Strauss' strategy here is to keep the apparent Carna representative to LA in line with the main clan's agendas.

Honestly this is the best version if "muder-hobo falls in love with a junkie" That will ever exist. And despite definitely turning into a tragedy it will be cute as hell! Also I love how Eva's bodylanguage in the beginning was pure rage over "HOW DUMB CAN YOU BEEE? " but her actual words were pure calm
I've never seen a more threatening dice roll than the one Eva did in this episode! What a fantastic epilogue. Bravo!
I don't comment very often, but i wanted to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Jason Carl for this amazing work. I always wanted to play a pen and paper rpg game, specifically Vampire of which i love the lore and all of that, but unfortunately i never had friends interested in this things, so L.A By Night is kind of an opportunity for me to be a part of this, even tho i'm not really a part of this, but i'm sure you know what i'm trying to say. So thank you Mr. Carl for this, and thanks to all the palyer involved... Really interesting story and characters. Looking forward to new adventures! Also, if i may, i would say that Jason Carl is my favorite story teller on the channel. Ciao from Italy!

I can relate to that, i have a group who plays d&d but only sporadically, and refuses to play vtm. Besides, of all the campaigns you can find on youtube (gotta check twitch sometime) this is the only one without horrible audio.
Jason Carl is my favorite story teller period. When he says let tell a vampire story. I almost giggle like a school girl. LMAO!!

It's always a treat to see Ms. McAdam as Eva. She looks absolutely stunning as always. I also love how the dynamic between Eva and Jasper has evolved over time. Such an unlikely and awkward relationship, yet they somehow make it work. Edit: Wow, so Katya kinda came out of nowhere. Definitely an interesting little twist.
@ 48:40 ~ Katya: *"The Tremere, we've been, setting up. Different shops, in certain cities, all over the world."* Uh-huh, you are monopolizing cities of Power, where Laylines meet at nexus points, and setting up shops as a front to harness the Energy --- Got it.
I love how Eva's body language shifts whenever Jasper starts talking about things to do with plans or intelligence, it feels more significant than just intrigue toward the plans and such and instead that alongside significant interest in the individual it's all coming from. It's very possible that my brain is just inserting that given the nature of their relationship, but either way at least to me it's in all a great flourish in the storytelling of her character, their interactions, and their relationship.
Eva: "Strauss is a monster... and I want to do terrible things to him... I don't know what that makes me." Well, as it happens, Eva, it makes you human.
The coloring pattern of White (Eva) and Black (jasper) has wonderful symbolic meanings. Enjoying the subtle nuisances like that in this series.
It has a strong Yin and Yang vibe to it.

Such an interesting development. I feel so invested in these characters, that I was silently rooting for them to work out between them, what happened in the season 3 finale. Jasper and Eva are really captivating to watch, and I enjoy the conversations they have with each other. The fact that they can sit and talk quietly for almost an hour, shows that the players are super into their characters. Such a lovely thing to see. I really hope that my next Vampire game will have this kind of involvement - even if none of us are professional actors, you can get far by just being dedicated to expression your character.
At 36:10, so many interesting things happen at once. The "not so subtle" slur towards Jasper almost has Josephine losing it, but she skillfully implements it into her "agony" act. Alex with his "crazy cackling", but thats entirely in character, hehe.. And 43:38 has to be the quote of the year :)

Can this show get any better?? Amazingly done as always. Best epilogue so far. Eva all in red, agreed that would be worth seeing! ;) Loved how JC started writing as soon as Jasper told Eva he’d told her his worst secret. *Storytellers eye brow raises slightly as he starts listing a whole bunch more of Jaspers sins*.

Damn I just love the physical acting Alex and Josephine do. Look at him just looking over Eva both protectively/but also aggressively towards Katya. It feels so predatory as appropriate for a vampire. Alex is such a good creature actor. I see why he chose to play a nos. And Eva looks so uncomfortable, her body language and the way her sire speaks to her just conveys the manipulation and abuse she’s suffered from the tremere. Well I guess Eva had to deal with Jasper’s ex and now Jasper has to deal with Eva’s. Full circle. Hope nothing tragic befalls these two and they can stay together. They have such an interesting contrast. Eva being so human for a kindred, she had never killed until recently despite being at least 40 years as a kindred. That means she has always been hungry for her whole existence as a kindred. That is some strong will. Contrast that to Jasper who has killed many, and certainly been a real monster himself, but he still clings to that light on trying to be better from Annabelle and Eva. At least Eva can provide Jasper a solution if he is willing to take it. Her blood without blood bond. Though I’m sure he doesn’t want to hurt her, but that seems like the only way right now, unless Jasper can stop drinking kindred blood. Unsure if that’s because he is addicted since his first feed was on a kindred or if he has some sort of condition that requires more potent blood for him to feed upon. I wonder if he can ever switch to normal mortal blood.
I want to take a moment to show appreciation for Katya's outfit, and her sooo 80s hair. Also, I love her.
I hate her guts, but her outfit game is strong.
Bravo! Standing ovation to Josephine, Alex, and Mr. Jason Carl for an outstanding performance. Josephine your choice to have Eva feed with a tinge of pyschadelics as a way to cling to a lost humanity made my jaw drop as I cursed out loud. Super brave, heartwrenching and creative. You and Alex are masterful in your portrayals, every glance and gesture or absence of made the hopeless romantic in me yearn for their success. You are always both so truly present and listen so well to each other. When Katya arrived, a part of me wondered, or knew that you must have been aware she was coming at some point but you played the shock and surprise so well it made me second guess if Jason had kept it a secret. Mr. Ward I can only say you are master of your craft! Mr. Carl you have taught me so much and entertained us all so much, I can not wait to see what you have in store for us next. Thank you for all the joy and heartache you have given us!

So here's the question: was Katya lying about not knowing who Jasper was or did Strauss send her in without letting her know rather important information about who Eva was connected to, only telling her about Victor (and maybe Nelly) and not mentioning the kindred who nearly replaced the previous Sheriff by killing him? Safe money is on her pretending not to know to insult him, but darn if the other possibilities aren't interesting.
Most Camarilla who embraced another without permission would be dead. If its a Tremere, they've got two different groups that want them dead. If Katya survivevd this, she is a bought and paid for puppet with multiple life boons.
@SilverandSoul Oh, Strauss telling Katya about Eva isn't in question. Whether he told her about Jasper when he did so, however, is a question with answers with all sorts of interesting implications (such as hinting at which of the 2 ladies he wants to meet the final death)
@SilverandSoul I don't think Evas problem is with the Tremere so much as Strauss. I think it is possible if Strauss and Vanevar are removed that the Barons will return to /"work with " the Camerilla. But it would be effectively a different Camerilla with all the problems experienced by the Anarchs removed. The Anarchs won't accept Tyranny, taxes without their say so, the prince acting as he pleases in any Barony but his own etc. The Anarchs will accept traditions : Masquerade Domain: A kindred's hunting ground is his own territory, and he rules it absolutely. Progeny: Sire only with permission of one's elders. Accounting: Until childer are released, their actions are the responsibility of their sire. Hospitality: Honor the domains of others, and present oneself to the ruler of any domain you visit. Destruction: The right to kill Kindred is reserved for the Elder of a community. Only an elder may call a Blood Hunt. The Tower claims to respect traditions but really they want power not tradition. the anarchs just want to share power.
@SilverandSoul I dont view removing Vanevar as something meriting an archon. Especially if La is seen as result to return to the Camerilla with an elected/approved Prince/Princess. 2. AS blood gets further from Caine ability to surpress the beast increases and the consequences of not doing so decreases. 3. Cain is clearly working as a taxi Driver in LA as Bloodlines proves :) 4. Tyranny isn't the "only way" . Believing it is is half the reason why it persists.
@SilverandSoul 1. It might have been a cam plot to get the Prince killed and he was only a puppet just as the one before him was, 2. "great beasts rules over lesser beasts" is a fascist notion! No structure has to be that by necessity. Nor is it necessarily wholly true. It is a similar argument made today for third and fourth wave feminism of a "patriarchal hierarchy" for the last few millennia and that men for example are paid more than women. It is a false proposition! that there is/was a "patriarchy" or that men have more money better jobs etc. on average. Likewise the "master race Kindred" ruling is partly a myth but even if true not a necessity! 4. Is just more of this fascist notion! Im not denying that hierarchy or order or rules are not necessary or that anarchy is needed. Anarchs are not anarchists! They have rules too! Tyranny is NOT necessary. The governed can consent to their government. Human society had an elected Republic in Rome and then a tyranny of Emperors but it eventually collapsed ( due to the fat that such a "Patrician /Ruling class" tyranny doesnt work! ) Power in the hands of Monarch gradually had to be shared with others and with their consent. It isnt perfect but people nowadays are living better than any time in history. There is NO REASON Kindred society can't do the same! Diablaries and uprisings can be prevented by establishing laws and rules for the government to govern the governed.
I have to say I did not expect Eva's sire to show up. I predict that in the future, Jasper will go after Katya - he knows no fear and doesn't have a sense of self preservation.

Soo Eva was embraced without Camarilla approval and both she and her sire are both still “alive”? And somehow Strauss is a monster? Yeah there has to be more to it than that.
Maybe her punishment was worse than Final Death and could explain her apparent 180 turn on how the Tremere do things. Maybe least of which, a forced blood bond.
Oh I don’t doubt that Katya is blood bound at this point one bit, but let’s also not forget Eva also stole from a powerful primogen various books and who knows what else when she escaped. A lot of elders would have likely taken her head as soon as the opportunity presented itself. Strauss honestly has been more than levelheaded with the whole situation which.
Maybe Katya traded something on Struass' word he would never harm Eva directly. Possibly that third drink.
Why do I have weird feeling that Katya is somehow linked to the eastern European Tremere, and maybe Tzimitsce... I remember from way back when - since editions changed some things from the old ones in matters of lore - but as I recall Tremere had a familly of revenants that defected from Tzimitsce and joined the Tremere during the war... They couldn't be embraced as I recall - but as I said things change.
Strauss tortured her. The control structures of the Tremere are quite authoritarian. Katya is blood bound to Strauss, so he controls her. Maybe they should form a plan to break her blood bond.
Brings up the interesting question, can kindred safely leave Earth's orbit?

As relationship and as characters in a drama yes. But as RPG characters they have not developed strategies through a combination of their skills. Using Eva and the Tremere to investigate the Zelios Map Room was the only such move. Victor used her to help rescue Jasper but obviously Jasper was not partaking in that. They used her to charm a few jackets and it helped Annebelle immensely when the Gangrel attacker her. some more armour and some more location items embedded in their bodies would be of assistance. Even the Lascombra will have to go into contact with shadow tendrils. and eva can do the same for weapons as she can for armour enabling normal daggers to harm Lascombra. Jasper has a library, a backchannel to the Nos ( which he doesn't have to go through Victor to use) and extensive knowledge of how to navigate the labyrinth. They could be developing skills and rituals ( rather than researching new one because they don't really have the time for that when at war) and churning out weapons armour and wards etc. they can combine magic with technology. strauss easily avoided protection glyphs but he can't avoid setting off ward alarms by either tripping them or dispelling them. such wards can be linked to camera systems which will identify attacker numbers and capabilities in advance. A floor covered with talcum powder cameras and passive sonic devices will detect the footfalls of invisible denizens. He may need Ib not Eva to fix the mirror. But in combat both can become invisible and Eva has huge attack potential. With Jasper using one of Victors Rauff? pistols you have two invisible high impact attackers. If both sucessful they would probably disable or kill Strauss or even a monster. The Tower are utilising Tremere assets Victor should do the same.
@@bartconnolly6104 True... but maaaaybe 1: they are still young and not that comfortable with the whole "game" of powerstruggles and 2: they are playing this for fun and very liberal cause they are playing liberal "Anarchs" (not sure they will remain Anarchs for long) and fear to exploit or use others in that "party" sense. It's a balance. Jason already put them in peril, and everytime he does, they learn from it. That's what this is about. Just wait a bit (hoping for many more seasons) and they shall be a unified, cooperative bunch of coterie.

Katya says she's a Tremere and that they have been sitting up "Shops" in Cities. Could it be that those 3 Tremere Sisters or Witches are part of her group and the Shop they own is one of Katya's...???
Man Alexander Ward with his facial expressions is the greatest thing ever for me. You can read soo much out of them. Really really like this episdoe as usual! Kudos to all the people involved even if i highlight my favourite Jasper so much you're all doing an amazing job portraying those characters.
The look that Eva gives after 58:10 is clearly Josephine seeping through like: "Excuse me?! I look great in colors." Love these two.
Amazing role-playing from all, and much respect to Jason Carl for using such a light touch as Storyteller. I need to re-watch and reflect on the in-game ramifications.

I could watch a full 3 hours episode of this. Jasper and Eva are amazing together. And the roast between "Mom and the new boyfriend" was so much fun! Eva looked really mortified! It was a great episode!

For awhile I have mainly been listening to the show while working or driving so I forgot how much actually watching improves the experience. Everyone's acting is phenomenal despite the huge limitations of the tabletop setting. Love this shit

Since the destruction of the Prague Chantry Tremere can't blood bond . the blood bond was what kept the Cam hierarchical system in check. Tremere dont have it and they can also break it for others so the Cam has to change. Rather than using supernatural control and threat they need to motivate the underlings. There will still be bosses and servants but like democracy their absolute power will now be regulated.
