  • I know that 2020 wasn't the best year for Speedway GP but the way Bartosz Zmarzlik became 2x World Speedway Champion was awesome.

  • Great racing, announcing not so much. Too much gratuitous yelling, especially when fan boys favorite rider is on the track (Woffy) and downright condescending to struggling riders such as Lindback. (their comment was Lindback went from Hero to Zero. What an ugly thing to say. ) Sad to see it. It hurts the sport, I think. With such talent on the tracks, it would serve the sport better to replace the stale and jaded announcing with fresh talent to match.

    • They're expressing honest opinions and I appreciate it. I know how difficult that is for some people these days, maybe find a cuddle buddy and go watch cooking shows.

    • @@johnmcglasson3287 It's what they leave out of their narration that is so destructive to the sport. In other sports, you get to know the players or riders, their stats, their teams. It's what draws people into the sport. I don't know if you've noticed, but Speedway is on the decline. The announcing, or rather poor announcing, is part of that decline. I speak as an speedway competitor from the past. I'm 70 now, but your disrespectful comments, if given in person, would net you a dental bill.

    • Yes, they're Woffy fans, they're open about that. Nothing wrong with national pride and enthusiasm. Lindbaeck has it coming, he pisses me off, he gets chance after chance and doesn't seen to rise to it. This was his last GP event. Speedway is tough, they say it over and over.

    • @@johnmcglasson3287 You shouldn't put so much just on the rider. Sure, they're in the pilot's seat, but it is more of a team effort than you can imagine. That's why I would like to hear more about the team during the event. Case in point. Laguta was absolutely flying in the first event. "My bike was WERY fast" he said. Announcers said it was all about the tire. I seriously doubt that. Every one of these riders is capable of beating every other rider. Lindback proved that tonight. Twice. When my bike was hooking up and going like stink, I used to say that I just held the throttle wide open and I was just along for the ride. There's a lot of truth to that statement. These riders don't prepare their own bikes. As for national pride, I get that. Announcers are supposed to remain neutral, and they make a half-hearted attempt at it. I call that disingenuous. Just own it already. I was watching a lot of SpeedwayRus lately until their site was wiped clean. I listened to the racing in Polish, I think, or Russian and the contrast in their tone is what got me to start criticizing the announcing on SpeedwayGP.

    • @@mauibill7233 I get that, but with Antonio it can't be missing the setup all the time to that degree, he's mentally defeated. I'm a fan of every single rider out there but for every guy like him who doesn't really have the love for it anymore (he's quit in the past for this reason) there are 10 riders ready to come up, so while I sympathize I don't let too much emotion guide it. I like all these guys, when I see a heat with Madsen, Emil, Magic and Bartoz, how can I not be happy and dissappointed? I want them all to win. Don't take me the wrong way, I love these riders.
