Best Digitakt 2 video so far!
Hahaha!
yup, hands down.
yeah best
yeah
All Digitakt II videos: Stereo samples, more memory, longer sequencer and other smaller better things. Still doesn't have good sample editing. Everything else mostly the same. End.
Do your thing homie, we are here for it.
You just talked about the digitakt.
My man! ❤
I’m here for the inspiration Not for the hype
Totally get it, just make video's about the stuff that is on your mind, like you do most of the time. That's what makes you unique in this youtube landscape.
💪🏼 thanks for taking the time to write!
Follow your instincts. The biggest reason your videos are great is that they are from your perspective, showing your approach. Keep it up!
Dope to hear! Thanks for that. And thank you for being a supporter!
I'm much more interested in seeing people use gear than talk about it. Keep those beats coming Ricky!
I really appreciate your deep dives and workflow videos more than just reviews. Seeing the device in a practical setting, so to speak, is what really sets you apart for me.
I would not expect you to do a first-day review video or really a review-type video at all. You make tutorials of creative processes with insightful banter and good humor.
Thanks for this Ricky! I appreciate the openness of this. Keep doing what you do!
I respect that! Keep on doing ur vids. Really enjoy them and learn a lot from ur content! 💪🏼
All good. You named all the folks I go to for regular reviews, from you, I want to hear you use it and share cool things along the way. Don’t change this, keep doing what you’re doing
All those folks (cuckoo, loopop, pikant) as part of the shillverse are technically also working for elektron, receiving gear and early access yet not disclosing anything as a sponsorship, that’s a huge ethics loophole that KZhead should adress, the usual “This company send me their stuff but they are not telling me what to say” is laughable… in other areas of tech some KZheadrs had addressed this and made changes but in music production is honestly a disgrace, and I like the Digitakt 2 by the way, it’s not about this particular product… Ricky is doing the right thing by letting us know about his bias, but next time he reviews a product by another company he should be CLEAR: the moment you accept anything from any manufacturer you are biased, even if they don’t send a script…
@@aoterou it’s not shilling when you’re literally teaching how to use a thing. Shilling is when you just do a surface gloss over the product and high fiving the marketing team. All of the three I mentioned (which you also mentioned) call out product drawbacks and usually provide workarounds. They represent a high bar for review content. All of whom also disclose when they get a product for free. All of whom have warned me against products that don’t fit with my use case.
@@NunyaB1smy point is not that their videos are not useful, it is that those videos should be labeled as sponsored content, do you think loopop or cuckoo would give a negative review of a brand that is so popular and giving them those kind of privileges? Of course not, the other day I saw the only honest review of the Polyend Play+ in all youtube by a guy (I forgot his name but he’s an American dude with glasses) basically explaining this, he couldn’t give an honest opinion if he wanted to have early access and free stufff from Polyend… and I’ve witnessed first hand how youtubers in the shillverse gloss over very obvious flaws in gear I own. As I said, it is an Ethical issue and in other areas of KZhead, creators have taken this approach: if it’s free stuff or early access, the video is labeled as sponsorship, otherwise they buy everything (and then return it)… and I am not saying the brands are doing anything wrong, in fact, kudos to their Mkt department for exploiting this loophole.
Ricky! You're FIRED!

We love you but without your input you going2 lose sum folks
Sounds about right, love to see you making what you do best!
I know this might sound weird in a way, but to be honest, I appreciate what you said - and that you didn’t do a review-ish video on the box. Please, don’t get me wrong: of course a review by you would’ve been appreciated too, as you do have a way to explain and talk about stuff that I really like and which is great to follow (as far as I am concerned). That said, I have to admit that I really, really love the videos you do about workflows, along with those where you just jam and have good fun - as this spirit of yours when you’re into creating and explaining comes across in those videos in a way that inspires me to get off the couch and try something myself. Of course, in the end it was and totally is up to you what your videos are about: it is your channel, and you sure are at your best when you create what you feel like creating. And I, for one, would like to thank you for all the time you are putting into this: Thank you very much, Ricky!
Well said
Thanks GU, I appreciate your kind words, and your longtime support. I’ve seen you around the channel for a long time! Much love.
You're definitely NOT a weirdo you just have integrity and want to promote integrity in this space. Cheers brother!
Love it brother. I know we get to see how you USE it! That’s the fun. The joy you bring and enthusiasm is why I’m here. So thank you!
Thanks for the honesty! Excited to see how you use the DTII
Can't believe elektron released a special edition e25 DT mk1 just before the release of a mk2. Insane..
gotta save up funds to drop the new model somehow, this occured to me too but I'm good with it
Yeah pretty scumbag move
e25 DT is a collectable item, for the fans of the OG DT whose life were changed by the device
Moneygrab
It's not like they forced anyone to buy it... so what are companies not supposed try to make money anymore? lol Plus they did an e25 version of all the Digis.
Bro!!! Totally respect your stance, just shows what a generous heart beats in there🤟🏻 Can’t wait to hear you jam on the Mk2 though, lots of love!
I can't remember what brought me to your channel originally, probably pocket operator vids? That was years ago. I've never even seen 99% of the gear you use in real life and likely never will. I've stayed for your teaching style, jams, and mostly just the positive attitude; it's contagious! All of it! 🎼🎶🖤
I know exactly what you mean! That´s why you are awesome.
I think it cool that you keep to your mission and let others do the reviews of your gear. Would love to in time hear your views on the new features as you make some new tracks with it.
You're a good dude Ricky. To be honest I am really looking forward to patch design stuff with the mk2. I don't have one, but it's a sampler, and I love videos about how to how to fatten up a drum sound, clever uses of envelopes or chopping, the stuff I could mine for inspiration on other samplers I own.
That’s work ethic right there, love the attitude. Also I tune regularly into your videos because you’re actually using gear to make music and that is surprisingly refreshing. Keep up the good work.
Lots of respect for setting your own boundaries! I got a DT2 myself after selling my DT1 last month to make room and am having a hard time getting back into it. Would love to see a DT-only session, maybe using single cycle waveforms etc to build a track!
Fair play. Ur constraint and mastery always impressed me on a personal level.
Mega respect. Can't wait to see you flying on the Digitakt II. No one makes using the elektron boxes easy like you.
I love it. Probably won’t be picking up a mk2 anytime soon, mostly because I’m so comfy with my mk1 and love it so much, and it does what I need. My only ‘gripe’ is I wish they kept the OG yellow screen.
Ricky, this has me more stoked for one than an actual review
Cheers for the vid and I totally get your choice makes perfect sense. Your fellow chaps have it covered just keep doing your thing. That's why I come here
More power to you Ricky!
I enjoy the deep dives by the folks you mentioned. I don’t need one more. I’d rather watch and learn from you making music. Carry on.
I wish more music youtubers were like you. You are the best. I've had mine since launch also and plan on buying a new DT soon. Thank you, Ricky!
Hey... it's a blessing for all of us that you can bring the knowledge that you can to us all.
Huge respect to you, world needs more people like you Ricky !! So fair, honest and always true to your morals and principles (and positivistic). Anything you decide is your choice and will be redpected !! Mad respect .
respect homie 🤘🏽
Appreciate the honesty and integrity - too little of it around at the moment - you is doin the right thing , as per. Thanks
Class act, as always. I'm so fatigued with all the DT2 unboxing/first impression/tutorial videos out right now that I probably wont get one for some time, if at all. Thanks as always, RT!
You always give me inspirations! From South Korea!❤❤❤
The review videos are great and the creators you mentioned have all provided solid content thus far. I want to see how people push the machines and how they bend them at will to do the things they do. Thanks Rickey!
We just wanna hear the good gems of urs, always on point
@2:08 "And who knows what future holds" - it sounds like Octatrack mk3 was announced here! ;)
Just looking forward to seeing some of your magic on the new box and hearing what you create.
To be honest, I watch your videos because the MUSIC you make in them inspires me. Looking forward to see you make tracks with the II as well.
Thanks for your honesty. I can't wait to see (and hear) what comes out of it in your studio. BTW, I have the Digi1 since it's release so we share the same box "type"... I miss that packaging... haha I guess Elektron needed to cut costs somewhere (I'm glad it was on the packaging and not the on devices !!). Anyway thanks again. Keep it up, you're truly an inspiration. Cheers mate.
Thank you for this video. I have always wondered how it worked between your video’s made as a Ricky Tinez the musician versus Ricky Tinez working for Elektron.
Cool take on things. Thats why you're the dude!
@@Alakazam888 Aw thanks!!
Excited for you to get to have fun with it! I know how much you love the OG.
may I ask what OG stands for?
@@verstaerker Original
wow...that was so refreshing.... kudos to you Mr. Tinez........
Do your thing. It has to bring you joy and you are right, videos about music making or about concepts (and not specific gear) age far better. And I always love a good “this is my technique” video which just turns into being a jam with benefits.
Well said Ricky... done with integrity, which is the most important thing one can have
Fair enough. I respect this a lot
Naw man, that’s totally fair! Love your perspective as always, and I appreciate the ethical dilemma. I look forward to the next one!
Totally makes sense to me, your reasoning is totally valid. And well get to see you in action with it anyway, so all good.
I for one love your tutorials and credit them for my purchase of the OG Digitakt. By making small snippet tutorials that were easy to digest, it made an otherwise complicated machine into something that I fully understand now. Plus they're very inspiring and your video quality and presentation are great.
I already have a syntakt and +fx. I'd like to get the digitakt 2 so what would be the ideal setup? Do I need to get a mixing tool to send both signals into +fx? Or is it fine to go through the syntakt with audio in from the digitakt?
Makes sense. I would love for you do your thing and make music and explain how you are finding it helpful with the new features with your style of house music. Much love compadre!
Take note folks, be YOU do YOU..... Always...
We love ya and your videos. Do what feels right to you.
This is why you’re successful at what you do Ricky - you’re thoughtful, honest and a good communicator
I totally get it. I still can't wait to see what kind of music you drum up on this thing, though. Bring it!
Brother is there any chance this thing gets manual slicing and polyphony?
No music today ... was hoping for some chill music as every saturday😊 love you, man.
Soon! There’s always next week 😊
that's what we've come to expect from you Ricky, chill'ntegrity! also, looking forward to the 50 times resampling video with the new unit now!
Just looking forward to you jamming out on the thing in a future video! Tutorials smootorials; I'm just here for good vibes and good music.
hmmm... maybe you could do tutorial? I'm super interested in these boxes. But I am so used to visual timelines in DAWs where I can see everything spatially, I just go nuts trying to think about "16 (insert your own number) tracks" inside a black box, in the abstract. I really wish I could go to school or find a teacher somewhere who can help get me over that hump, because I love the sounds these things can make.
Playing is more powerful than talking. Looking forward to your Digitakt2 "communications"
Your channel is the biggest reason I got my DT last year. When I read about DT2, one of my first thoughts was “I wonder what Ricky Tinez will think?” I’m eager to hear what you do with it. Thanks for being awesome!
Hey Ricky. I personally don't come to your channel looking for reviews or things like that. I like your videos of how you USE things. How you prepare for a gig coming up where you go "I'm only taking a minimal rig...so it will be a Digitakt II, a kazoo, and a didgeridoo" or something like that. Just you sitting down and making a groove on your Octatrack is outstanding, so I am guessing that's something you'll be doing with the Digitakt II...because even then we learn so much. Keep up the great work.
Well, good on Rickey for making a decision and standing by it. Little odd imo but I would definitely give yourself some credit, the gear videos you do help me use the instrument or gear more deeply, I didn't want to watch a dtII review so glad my favorite guy for the job isn't dropping one, makes things a lot easier... lookin forward to writing on dtII and seeing what you come up with as well, this is a huge addition to my workflow
You’re first class my dude. 🙏
watching you use it to make stuff is the ultimate "review" anyway. can't wait
I would love to hear your DT2 thoughts (if you want to share them). No one else has the same level of insight you do. I also appreciate how you show tips and tricks using gear while making tracks. So much better than just "another tutorial." Some of the coolest tricks you've shown seem spontaneous, like you accidentally discovered how to do it while making a track. Those are the best ones!
Integrity, and very welcome too x ❤
Makes perfect sense, esp as a contractor. Also good to hear from you about the why. I def just expected silence, which would also have been fine. Love your videos and your vibe. Your positivity is inspiring Can’t wait to see the OG Digitakt on Reverb as an ‘owned by Ricky Tinez’😜
your best review is say thoughts and play this instrument, this why I love your channel since ko videos)
kudos for the quick honest view - we know we'll hear some awesome grooves from your mind and fingers using the DT2 :) - QuiQues: what mic are you using for this video - and where is it? :)
You got me at "make some club tracks the way I always do"
You're not a weirdo, i like your choice, plus talking nicely about another great creators ❤
living the dream. respect!
Do your thing Ricky, and let's see what it does. Respect
Whether you have unfair advantage or not, your attitude of thinking in that way is awesome!
Hey man, as always, love your work! Been kn the fence for a looong time about the Digitakt. Didn't like the mono thing.. One thing here made me smile/laugh about it when I see the title. You won't talk about it... but you did? Haha! Love it! Stay cool! Makes my day watching your vids!
Great video. I have the OG but will get the Digitakt II soon.
We need your view on it, Ricky!! You always come up with stuff I didn’t think about to do before, you’re the best at that!! We desperately need you ❤
Just do a killer video, and stop thinking to much. You make the best videos for DT on internet. I don’t think it’s unfair. if you like elektron, and DT mk2 just do it. Show to the world how fun it can be to play with it. Keep doing what you doing. 👊👊
Working at elektron makes the videos more valuable I think, but totally get where you're coming from and agree with your perspective
Good on you, Ricky. TBH I’m not sure the world needs another unboxing vid anyway. I’d much rather just see you being you and doing your thing with the new box. I’ve learned a lot from you over the years.
I like your vibe Ricky !
Thanks for the honesty ! ( ans tells Elektron to put the euclidean on the OG DT 🤠)
Big Respect...
You are one of the best experts on the Digitakt! Would love to see your review on the v2. You work there? No problem. It may be biased? Ok. If you want to be biased or not is up to you. It is your personal opinion. I still would love to see a tutorial, review, tips on the v2!!😊
@RickyTinez Any chance you could maybe mention the need for Lazy Chops with the new Digitakt || so users can specify where to start their sample slices at the nearest Zero Crossing? Thanks ;)
Playing it straight as always dude
First time ever I write a comment on a video... but: "Maybe I'm just a weirdo". Dude... you're GENUINE. Does that makes someone a weirdo, I think not ;-) Thanks for doing what you do, it is a true refreshment on KZhead!
Appreciate your transparency. But I think we (community) would really miss a DT2 video from your workflow perspective. I’m fine with your inside info considering elektron gear, while amazing, have some not so intuitive workflows. I’m looking forward to them in the future from you. Keep up the great work.
Please explain why thetea still no proper manual slice function? Im going to keep the og for now but if they added that I'd sell up and buy the mkii
I'm waiting for any video on Digi2 from you, Ricky!
Can you give me any insight, or information on why it doesn't have any XLR/Combo jack inputs, USB-C, or an SD card slot? Well, besides just cost? It's a good update on the previous one, but two of those are standard features on many devices right now (the upload speed is so slow for a current generation device), and the other one would have just made sense as a quality of life upgrade.
I totale understand your point of view , you are not a weirdo !
Respect 👊❤✌
