You can never tell when a player's prime will come to an end. (Casemiro, Erikssen) You expect a team with a CDM and fourth choice centre back with no back up, no left back to be title chasers. I don't even think the Glazers expected a PL title with that team.
Exactly. Last season ground out results with gritty defensive play and a back line with some cohesion. Casemiro has been a shell of his former self and Erikson since that big injury has looked really bad. Luke shaw has also been one of the biggest losses of the season. He was a massive creator of dynamic play down the left side. Its probably the main reason Rashford has struggled. He had great chemistry with Shaw. Idiot pundits think you can just plug in anybody and be title contenders.
It was obvious they won't give more than two seasons of consistent performances Casemiro had his best years at Madrid, a blind man knows that Same as Eriksen whose best years were at Spurs There was only one way, which is down. You can't be signing 30+yr old players and saying no one can tell when their prime ends United keep looking for short cuts...it was the same with Schweinsteiger, Zlatan, Falcao, etc. The club's decision makers are either delusional or outright stupid to expect anything different from what they get from those profile of players

3 weeks ago we played Brentford. They missed their entire back 4 and have had more rotations in the back 4 than United this season. They totally outclassed us. For example they had a 10 times hihger xg in that game than we did. The result were good last season, but we were lucky. Not as lucky as we have been this season though and we are 6th. That tells you all you need to know. Also about the development under Ten Hag.

The only difference between last season and now is he has Rashford scoring for him, in the second part of the season, after the World Cup. Before that, it’s basically the same of what you are seeing right now. Nothing! No play, no progress, inconsistent. Nothing! The Ajax style of play that we wanted him to do, he gave up on it. He even admitted on live television that he can’t do it at Manchester United. So why is he still have this job? It’s not even making sense!

And as fans we all know that. It’s been like that for years now. The thing is he has his players now. But he can’t get the best out of them. Yet! Even Antony, his most expensive buy. He wanted him so much. The club allowed him 80M purchase. But he’s not really that good. He was over hyped and super overpriced. And Ajax gladly released him. We could have spent less on a better player. For me, the only players that was a good deal is Casemiro and Eriksen. But they are old. They are very effective in his 1st season but now, they aren’t. That’s why he went for Amrabat but I don’t know why he’s not utilizing him properly. Still choosing Casemiro over him.

It think there is a kind of truth in what ETG says. If you compare back some years ago, the style of play has changed. There are more quick combinations, Maguire is playing much more vertical, Dalot is coming in the middle... It's much more dynamic, looks sometimes chaotic. However the level of risk taken is too high. The players don't know how to switch back to a more rigid / defensive game. We can't complain about ETG on that. When he throws Amrabat in, the message is quite clear : Keep the score, defend. Casimero should not have tried this header, as confident as he is with his game.
