PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO - Welcome to Port of Spain, the Capital of Trinidad and Tobago islands in the Caribbean! I’m so excited to finally be here. So many of you have written to me over the years inviting me to visit for the amazing food and culture, so it’s really an honor to finally be here and to explore the incredible food. Let’s get started eating, we’re jumping straight into a massive 20 hour day of eating local street food!
Huge thank you to #visitTrinidad for inviting me to Trinidad and Tobago and for making this trip happen!
Friends in the video:
Zaak (Foodie Tales with Zaak): / foodietaleswithzaak
Baidawi (Eatahfood): / eatahfoodtt
David (D’Market Movers): / dmarketmovers
Brent (Hungry Belly 868): / hungrybelly868
And here’s everything we did in the video, and all the food we ate:
Central Market - We started off today at the Central Market in Port of Spain, bright and early in the morning before 7 am. And with Baidawi and David, who go to the market every weekend to do their shopping and have breakfast, we were in the right hands. After exploring the market and the amazing produce and ingredients that go into food in Trinidad and Tobago we then headed to the food court for some local fish broth and cow heel soup.
EatAhFood - Baidawi makes fantastic food videos, especially recipes, and so we bought ingredients and headed back to his house to cook Callaloo, an Afro Caribbean food of simmered down taro leaves and pumpkin and coconut milk. It was so good!
Roti - One of the greatest of all Trinidadian foods is roti - different from anywhere else. The rotis are huge and fresh and then stuffed with pumpkin, potato, and curry of your choice. An afternoon bulging roti with Zaak, was absolutely delicious.
Queens Park Savannah - Port of Spain - To continue on with this street food tour in Trinidad and Tobago, we went to Queens Park Savannah for a coconut and then continued on to the evening street food market to sample a bunch of different local foods - everything from doubles to pholourie and roast fish.
Yousef Gyro (goo.gl/maps/vJkVQL9S5zMSSnGw5) - Trinidad and Tobago is so diverse and there’s even a local Middle Eastern population including Yousef Gyro, owned by descendants of Syrian immigrants. They make all sorts of wraps and gyros and combinations you won’t find anywhere else. This is the ultimate late night food in Trinidad!
Dass Doubles Factory (goo.gl/maps/X6yvzWiQi9WscWdc6) - We did have a quick doubles at the street food night market, but we went to Dass Doubles Factory for the real deal late night doubles. They made the barras fresh and load them up with heavy peppa sauce and delicious curry chickpeas.
Hadco Phase II Pan Groove Orchestra Pan Yard ( / hadcophase2pangroove ) - Finally to complete this day we were treated to a panyard lime to see the ultimate instrument of Trinidad and Tobago - steel pan! It was so cool to see and an amazing way to wrap up this ultimate street food tour - and they have delicious food!
Again, thank you to everyone who made this video possible and to #visitTrinidad!

That's because Kenya has similar cultural influences like Trinidad. A mix of Indian and African culture. Indians migrated to Kenya as indentured servants just like they did in Trinidad to work for the British colonial government.

The majority of the caribbean islands at that time were french speaking, so the names and culture were the same. The main language in Trinidad at that period with the influx of those many peoples was french or french patois up until the 1960s. that is why we Trinis also call avocado zaboka. Subscribe to the Hiloba channel, it was a very interesting channel
Beautiful to see you appreciate the food of the island. As a Trinidadian, you shared so much treasured memories! Mark, you and your team did a great job! I am happy to subscribe to all your content
YES When you were in Jamaica 🇯🇲 i said you must go to Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹 👏🙌 Jamaica still has a lot more in store for you and Guyana 🇬🇾 is a must as well
As a Japanese I wanna try that taro, carrot, pumpkin and fish soup, because it really resembles to Japanese soup
Does it? Then i want to try that soup as a trini living in Japan!
All food is inspired by African cuisine so I believe you yummy😂
I’m from South Africa and I can relate.
@@shanequaaustin8908i think india played a bigger role here too.
As a Trinidadian who visited Japan, almost everything in Japan tasted perfect. The major difference is our green seasoning. I had Ramen and I found it was a very strong flavor. I was missing my green seasoning, especially culantro/ shado beni.
This video tells me that I'm blessed to be a a Ghanaian because all this foods are common in my country 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
Lots of people of African ancesty from Ghana and Nigeria. Banku is what we call cucu/coocoo in Trinidad and Tobago. The Ashanti king was in Trinidad for emancipation day celebration August 2023.
Love to you for representing my country with such love ❤❤❤❤❤❤ 🇹🇹
As a Jamaican speaking honestly Mark makes every country he visits seems like paradise....he seem like a person you will have no problem with getting along with...i just wish i was in port of Spain cause am a huge fan of your channel mark ‼️‼️❣️❣️.....

I’m a British born Grenadian that has travelled across the Caribbean and can say that Trinidad and Tobago has some of the best food on offer. Great to see Mark try the mauby, for many it’s not for them but I find it absolutely delicious. Seeing the roti and doubles makes me hungry for the food and a trip to T&T.
The older Grenadians would be mad if they read your comment. Lol
Catch a Groove Mauby is a great drink. Its also a "cooling" or herbal cleanse for the body. Mauby should be served chilled and not too sweet to give you that bitter-sweet taste. Its delicious.
As a Trini the doubles taste good 👍🏽
@@tamaramcrae4037 I'm an older Grenadian living in Toronto and I say it all the time Trinidad has the best tasting foods in the Caribbean and guess who get upset when I say that. The Jamaicans.
@@mrs.laborde6604 True, well said. From ah Trini living in Canada.
You know the food is good when the cabinet space run out and it takes up space on top of the cabinets. Love the food. I gotta visit Trinidad. Such an awesome food culture.

I’m Jamaican and I’ve been waiting for you to do the other Caribbean countries. I hope you’ll be doing an island hopping thing. It’s so exciting to see the showcase of the whole Caribbean.
👍🙏
He actually did a series in Jamaica, and it was phenomenal…must watch
@@IanHorsford I know, that was why I said I wanted him to do the other Caribbean countries.
I’m Jamaican descent and when it comes the Caribbean it seems Jamacia is always in the limelight. Nice to see other Carrib countries being represented because the food variation is vast and under reprisented…The food looks so good in Trini that I’m gonna have to visit for that alone…Bliss

I've been watching Mark's channel for over 5 years and I have waited for this day. I am proud of my country 🇹🇹🇹🇹. Mark I thank you🙏🏽
I love how they only cook with wholesome ingredients ,nothing processed!
We don’t have process foods like that. It’s only when we go overseas. But everything is done fresh. The only thing you might see frozen in someone’s freezer is meat and left over food.
I’m Cuban and I loved this video, some stuff I can relate too, but made me happy you loving the stuff.
I so enjoyed your tour of Trinidad 🇹🇹… I’m a Jamaican living in the United States 🇺🇸
Words cannot describe the JOY I feel watching this video!!! Big up Mark and the Trini crew who hosted. This was very heartwarming. I am overjoyed. Looking forward to more Trini vids Mark!!!
Thank you very much Trisha!
