Maybe it's fun to play, but when you need to speed up the high light points it's not really the most spectacular of sports.
It was for 1 point only and we put it in because it was a highlight moment. But yes, normally the super long points aren't highlight worthy. I would say the same is true for all racket sports
@@pickleballhighlights7068 I wouldn't say that for all racket sports. Long points in tennis, especially with titans like Federer/Nadal, are such a delight to see.

The problem with this new sport is that it is for the most part monotonous. How? Serve and run towards net basically all the time. It is a one-trick pony game with quite a limited skill set needed.

That part is boring, but it's a strategy to set up the firefight, kind of like in soccer when they're setting the stage for the more exciting shots.

My personal opinion is that this sport will be very fun to play and has good play longevity (less likely to incur injuries compared to other sports), but is going to probably have same viewership numbers as beach volleyball because it's just not really entertaining to watch. I think they need to make the court a bit faster to make smashes more punishing and increase the width of the court wider for doubles?
honestly kinda agree. some of the points really are exciting but others where its just 4 people standing in one spot dinking is so boring.
The more the sports grows, the more eyeballs that will want to watch it. There is a reason so much investment $ is being thrown at PB right now.

Can someone explain to me why they can't just step up to the net and smash those ridiculously slow returns?
You're not allowed to hit balls in the air if you're in the "kitchen", which is the space from the net to the first line. That's why sometimes they jump outside of the court to legally hit it from closer range.

Suit yourselves. I went back and watched it again. In golf, when you actually play, that _entire_ rally would be less than the time you spend walking to the ball after a big drive.
Been watching a lot the last few days and that rarely happens. It’s like you zooming to the most boring part of any sport and being like oh hur hur this can’t happen again or the sport will fail. Example: dribbling back and forth down the court of the field.
The point at 1:47 shows why this sport will never, ever be as watchable as tennis. Long points like this are INSANELY boring to watch.

I think it had to do with levels of entry and impact on the body. There’s a reason why a old people play pickleball versus tennis. I also see pickleball as a possible entry into tennis. So I really don’t get the hate tennis players have for pickleball. I see pickleball’s rise and a positive for all racket sports in general.

I guess Pickleball is catching on in the USA because the USA has completely failed to produce good tennis players for the past decade. Americans always need to create their own niche sports to be good in because they can't compete anymore in sports that have been globalized. I mean, USA just lost to Japan in the World Baseball Classic so...
@@JAFrk It's wonderful for sports to become international, regardless where it originates. It elevates the game and level of competition. Japan is phenomenal at sports and their pro baseball league has been around for over 70 years. All good things :)

En el padel la pelota va rápido...
en el pádel: las raquetas y las pelotas son más grandes, la cancha de pádel mide 20 por 10 metros (prácticamente el doble de ancho), tienes una pared al final de la cancha que en la parte de atrás mide 4 metros de alto y 3 metros de alto por los laterales, comúnmente siempre se juega de a parejas, mientras que este juego se ve bien en un 1v1 pero en un 2v2 se hace tan chica la cancha que siento que pierde el sentido

the pickleball balls are not the same as tennis balls, you can t lob that ball easily, and its not very efficient either
lots of hate in the comments but the game is both harder than it looks and more fun than it appears
I want to like this, I really do... But the monotonous dinking backwards and forwards is mind-numbing to watch. Hopefully I get a chance to try it myself, that might change my opinion.

Pickle Ball kinda reminds me of the Southpark Episode Sarcastiball. It's just a dumbed down tennis. To be fair I'd totally play pickleball, but that's because I've wreaked my body of with decade of tennis, volleyball, and football and trying not to be constantly stuck doing PT.

Why don't they just slam every shot? Why do they always hit it back slow and into the first small section of the court? This makes no sense.
You're not allowed to stand in the first small section of the court while hitting a ball and that's why putting a low ball there is a relatively safe defensive move. For slamming every shot at hip hight I guess the condition of the racquet either doesn't allow an effective top spin strike or the players simply lack the skills to perform that shot...
i played it and trust me, its not that easy as it looks, its indeed easier than tenis or padel but the racquet is weaker and the balls are different than the tennis balls
I thought pickleball was more fun than padel but after watching hours of both, Padel looks more challenging and fun.
If you think this is cool wait until you know pádel...

Why are tennis players so salty about Pickleball?
Because tennis courts are literally being replaced Pickleball courts. All in the name of a sport that is meant for older people, injured people or people who don’t have enough athleticism to play Tennis to begin with. I’ve played pickleball as a Tennis player. Don’t mind it - it’s fun, but form your own damn courts not take our Tennis courts down.

@@tannerbrasher1099 7th grade girls volleyball can do it. Tennis players hit half volleys down the line. Pickleball is married to the concept of waiting for an error.

The ignorance of the narrow-minded commenters/haters on here is astounding. This is a game at times of finesse, explosive volleys, rapid fire response, athleticism. At the same time is it approachable by all. Fastest growing sport in the USA several years running. There's room for this, for tennis, for padel, and all the rest. If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.
