  • Blame Fittler. He had one of his interchange players sit on the bench for 70 minutes, only coming on to replace an injured centre. He obviously had no plan for Hynes, whereas Slater utilised all 4 of his bench players effectively. Fittler is notorious for making questionable selections, but at the very least he should have a legitimate plan for the cooked selections he does make. Not "We'll pick him to appease everyone, but we'll sit him on the bench for the entire game or until someone gets injured".

    • Expected hynes to be a hero on debut when he’s been on his ass for 70 minutes. Tedesco shouldn’t of let those two tries in, let alone be outjumped by a prop

I would expect the same reaction from a QLD great like fatty if QLD played terrible, without any issues from fans. I actually thought the forwards were better for the blues (Based on their defensive performance in the middle), and the backs were better for the maroons (Defended out of their skin on the edge).

  • I was at the game in the Riverbank Stand behind the goals. From up where I was it was very noticeable that whenever the Blues were attacking in Qld's half, most of their play was going down their left. In the Qld 20 the Penrith scrum base trio of Cleary, Luai and Yeo were all but ignoring Frizell, Turbo and Fox out on the right. Almost all of their attack went left where Martin, Crichton and To'o were. Yes NSW scored twice down there, but it became predictable for the Qld defence on their own line.

  • NSW need to take a leaf out of Slater's book and make some tough calls. Both Hammer and Walsh came in over players who had dominated at Origin level but were inspired selections. Teddy and Turbo are just not playing well and were exposed. Edwards in and Latrell or even likes of Whighton in for Turbo would be a good start.Given Cleary is not dominating at Origin level Hynes needs his chance in the half back jersey. With hindsight I think Slater won the game before kick off by out selecting / coaching the NSW coaching /selection staff big time.

  • I'm a Queenslander who feels for Joey. He is so disappointed and shattered. He had so much praise for Mr. Toothache Cleary. Early in the week Joey said, "Cleary is about to tick off on the final frontier. The time is right for Nathan Cleary to experience a light bulb moment which will take his game to even scarier heights". Well, there were no light bulb moments from Nathan. Meanwhile, Luai called out Cobbo over ‘grub’ sledge. "If he’s genuine about me (being a grub) then he is going to have to do something about it next Wednesday,” Well, Cobbo did. • As a coach , you pick the fittest players that can do the job and the players on top of their game. NSW relied on reputation, which did not pan out . As much as i admire the fox for his ability, coming back from a knee injury 1 month early is not the ingredient you need, Turbo , Tedesco , are so way out of sorts is comical, Graham , Hines , could have been the difference , the game lacked the speed and intensity of days and games gone by , full kudo's to QLD as they never gave up , NSW were poor in execution and never came out after half time and never deserved to win. To all the blues supporters that showed up at ADE Oval , thank you as you were more dedicated than the team that most spent thousands to see.

  • I'm a QLD fan and I do buy into the heart stuff, but NSW were let down by their coach. No game plan other than hard and fast through the middle. The halves weren't creative, only one running try. Other than kick high and hope for an error, no plan to exploit the gaps in QLD defence. No targeting Gilberts missing edge except the try, then they went away form it and no plan for Hynes! That was always going to be a problem. Now for the heads to roll, Hudson young, TPJ, Hynes, Turbo, all on the chopping block.

  • You know what I find interesting ? When you hear Brad Fittler talk about his side in the post game press conference an hour ago, he has changed his language from " us and we ) to ( them and they). Fittler has totally detached himself from his team. I was at the game last night and I truly believe NSW gave it their all and just made a couple of errors with forward passes. To add NSW was down Lattrell. I also am a language specialist and I know the impact of booing. When the Queensland side booed the try conversions and booed the NSW side and the NSW supporters joined in, come on really ? Booing has a detrimental impact on a teams' function and an individuals, so does lack of support from their coach.

It doesn't look good at all...The team looks good but doesn't look as balanced as the Maroons team. Murray and Junior Paulo should have started with Young and TPJ coming off the bench. Blues started poor with two easy tries but after Paulo, Murray and Martin came on the defense and attack looked a bit better. At the end when Freddy rotated again, well, we know what happened. Someone should be telling Freddy by now that his job is on the line and should be let go if the series is over in the next couple of weeks. His team selection have been questionable since 2020...every selection he has made are just not working.

Nathan Cleary probably unfit as well and his game is too predictable. Also Teddy was found out in defence and lacking penetration in attack.
