I bought this b7100 tractor for $400 after being told that it ran a year ago, I felt pretty good about the buy. But after uncovering little hints of abuse while getting this machine going. We find out the truth behind the cheap price tag.
Kubota b7100 tractor case lawn garden tractor skid steer and tiller will it start? Major problems

  • FYI, when you're trying to turn over an engine for the first time, always take out a spark plug/glow plug to let out any fluid trapped in the cylinders before you crank it and possibly bend/break something.

  • My money is on a head gasket and a warped head, but I'd like to see a teardown video if you're up for it. Also, PLEASE do yourself a favor and get a winch on that trailer so you don't hurt yourself or someone else. That loading method was one mistake away from some serious consequences.

  • The way you did it was so completely wrong, I'm surprised con rods didn't come out t he side of that engine. Pull injectors, Marvel Muystry oil or ATF and brake fluid for a week. DON'T touch for a week! It will loosen the piston from the rings and the rings from the cylinder walls. The excessive blowby, could still be the rings. Definitely a head gasket for sure. Could be just the head gasket judging from the amount of smoke coming out of the upper radiator hose. Pull the head off. Do it slow and methodically. A head gasket for those little Kubota engines is cheap. I think it's still saveable. With a little patience and work.

    @jeepanimal2943@jeepanimal294326 күн бұрын
    • His way of starting it may have caused the blowby. LONG pipe wrench is not the way to do it. He may have broken some rings and now it has blowby. He says it was abused and he is right. He abused it in addition to anything the previous owner did.

  • I dealt with a little kubota in a baby little thomas skid steer that the last owner blew a water pump belt and ran it until it locked up. I pulled the head found a good amount of visible cracks in the head i bought a china reproduction head and it was back to running good but did burn a tiny bit of oil. I'd yank the head see if the gasket is gone or the head is cracked then pull the oil pan pop the pistons out hone the cylinders with a ball hone slap new rings on it and I'll bet it will be a solid runner. I can't imagine the block being cracked typically they will push a freeze plug out or crack the exterior of the block before anything internal. The cylinders might be pitted up a bit though

  • I run one of these in France, but 4x4 and manual. Built out of 3 scrappers and a 6000 head on a 7100. Might be just the head gasket, these engines do funny things but are pretty bullet proof. As long as the water pump, radiator and cooling system are all good, you might be able to use Red Hylomar to reuse the head gasket. Mine has run no problems for over 7 years doing that. These engines are quite easy to work on. Strip it and have a look, you might be lucky and end up with a good little machine.

  • Wow. Dishonest sellers suck. If I might make a suggestion, it may be worth inspecting the condition of the head and block, see if it’s just a blown head gasket. It’s just a suspicion, but based on how low the coolant is and the fact that there’s no coolant in the engine oil makes me wonder if maybe this thing was just overheated and run dry, hence the swamp water, PO couldn’t give enough of a care to add actual coolant. I mean hey, worst case you’re just confirming the engine is in fact bad. Sucks that little tractor was so abused. They’re really reliable when given a reasonable amount of maintenance.

    • @@BradenBuildz Even before tearing it down, a potential test could be to fill the cooling system with regular water and let it come to temperature, see if there are any leaks. A hunch tells me this thing was leaking coolant quite profusely, hence the extremely low level. If it was leaking into the crankcase from say a blown head gasket or cracked passage there would be more coolant than that and plenty of coolant in the oil. Oil looks reasonably clean so no water probably, but cracking the drain plug isnt a bad idea. Just let a little leak out and put it back.
