This week I was curious: Are you interested in joining Emirates as Cabin Crew, or want to know how flying interviews take place?
There' so much information online on the EK Open Day, and before my interview I watched all of it. In this video, I share things that no one else mentioned that really helped me.
So grab a cup of your favourite hot drink and have a seat because in this video I spill all the tea!
For more, or to read this info instead, check out this blog post on my website!

Right now, Emirates Airlines are recruiting all over the world. With the end of the pandemic in sight, the airline industry is once again booming and people want to travel. If it's your dream to see the world as Cabin Crew for Emirates, now is the time to apply!
What do we discuss in this video? Well...
- How to know if being a flight attendant is right for you!
- How to prepare before the Open Day!
- What to expect the day of!
- Skills Emirates recruiters are looking for (in my opinion)!
- My BIG mistake the first time I went and didn't get hired!
- What happens after?
And more!
I really hope this video helps you ace your assessment day or learn more as it is a dream job for so many. If you want to know more about Emirates cabin crew life or like watching EK vlogs, subscribe to my channel because as a newly hired flight attendant, I'll be moving to Dubai soon and I'll share everything about the accommodations and training that I can with you.
See you in the sky!

    • Hi! Both the Open Day and the Assessment Day are recruiting events where candidates are assessed in rounds. Basically, you can expect to present yourself to a group of people over and over again, so ensure you look presentable (follow the standards in the video), come with the documents and have some answers prepared! I have more detailed info on my blog: www.catmansouri.com/episodes-page/episode-20-ek-2023 Good luck!

Resorted to buying a formal pants to go along with my formal blouse and blazer - will that be ok/acceptable or will I get marked down?

    @Zee-vs9hm@Zee-vs9hm Жыл бұрын
    • Hi Zee, Congratulations! Your pants won't affect the interview process at all. As long as you show you're the best candidate for the job you'll likely make it to the end. The skirt really only affects the final stage when your photo is taken. I would recommend asking a family member or friend for a skirt! Most moms or professional women in your life have one in their closet. Even if it doesn't necessarily fit, you can pin it and make it look like it does. *Good luck!!!*

    • They mostly just ask very general questions like to present yourself to the group or describe an image. The questions are fairly broad but the main idea is they want to see how you present yourself confidently and your behaviour in a group setting. I recommend being supportive of others and speaking with confidence for success :)

If you don't have the certification, it may be possible to complete your high school online! I know in the USA and North America you can get a GED which is equivalent. If you're just missing the certificate itself, maybe try calling your school beforehand or paying them a visit to get a copy. Good luck!!

    • Hello! Many crew are muslims, and they do ask you if you are willing to serve alcohol at the interview, as well as if you are willing to wear the uniform. If your beliefs do not align with being crew (for example, you want to keep your hijab and not the uniform, or you don't want to serve alcohol) there are other positions at the airline you can apply for! Maybe try finding a position in the EK offices or as a gate agent at the airport. I have seen many of the gate agents in hijabs and they don't serve alcohol. Good luck :)

    • Hi Marcin! This is a great question. Emirates is fairly strict in terms of its looks guidelines as a company. I know for women, they are specific down to the nail shape and color. On their website, they state "neatly presented" and show short hair as the guideline for male cabin crew. They don't say anything about long hair. That said, my personal recommendation is that since they take your photo in the final interview stages I wouldn't risk having long hair. Although your hair may be beautiful and look clean, chances are they value a more conservative look and with the chances of getting the job already being slim, you don't want to miss out on travelling the world for your pony tail. If it really is important to you or your identity, hair also always grows back! So you can always assess when you get to Dubai after getting the job whether it's worth it to grow it out once you get a better feel for the company. Good luck!!

For example, right now they are hiring tons of people from around the world to make up for COVID staffing losses and travel coming back. However, at other times in the past it has taken several months. Personally, I applied online a week or so before the Open Day in 2023, and once I went I heard back within 48 hours. In usa each and every air hostess goes varrious training in order to perform during emergency. I don't know if you already got it. Some time in past i saw one semi national carrier have crush landing in Karachi airport and i saw only one front emergency door was open which was extremely dangerous to passangers. Ms cat i am flying in emirates since 90 the standard in not so good it emirates policy which causing cut and ultimately burden fall on cabin crew. Many times i heard that crew from different countries but main point is missing that prevail in some bigger airlines that if they flying to India they will keep hindi speaking crew too to facilitate some passangers with no English so language should be advantage. Asiaian countries are under develop countries so everyone go for this job as compare to america where these jobs are not much attractive. Even cockpit crew in are america is becoming low level job as not much young peoples are interested. One thing you may add for your knowledge that new model of boeing family 979 which will be due in a decade with one pilot in plane and one on ground.

  • Hi Cat 👋. I have an upcoming invitation for my first interview in 2 weeks and the email provided I bring a digital copy of my vaccination card which I don’t have since I’m not vaccinated. What should I do? Should I go to the interview without having one or will I lower my chances of being accepted :/? Please let me know!

    @melaniesalazar9936@melaniesalazar99368 ай бұрын
    • Hello, if I were you I would get vaccinated before the interview. If you are hired you will have to be vaccinated anyway as it's a requirement to fly out of the Dubai airport and if it's a position you are serious about, you might as well take care of it so it's not an issue with your employer at all. Hope that helps!

  • Thank you so much for explaining everything with great kindness!❤ Cat, could you please tell me whether weight matters for the job or not? If you are fat but highly educated, like Mphil or Ph.D., and want to be a cabin crew out of passion now , do you still get the job or at least considered seriously for the role? Because I might get to appear in the interview next month , I am so worried about my 90 kg weight! Because cannot reduce much in a month.

    @AK-zq8dt@AK-zq8dt9 ай бұрын
    • Hello! Congrats on finding a career you are passionate about. 🙂BMI does come into play, because Cabin Crew are required to be healthy and fit enough to save passengers and act in emergency situations. If one month is not enough time for you, I would recommend starting a health regimen if it's something you really want and attending a future open day (you are allowed). Also, as Emirates is pretty strict with the weight, you might want to seek out a less strict airline in another country too! They're not all as strict on weight, some countries are more open. Good luck

  • Hi Cat, i really love your videos. I wanted to know if i can get selected if i’m 159 cm but i’m able to reach 212 cm high, because my arms are long. Are they so strict just for 1cm?

    @Lisa-oj5xt@Lisa-oj5xt6 ай бұрын
    • Hi, to be honest with you they are very strict about this as they measure it the day of. When I did it in Canada, they didn't allow us to wear heels and I had to take my shoes off. A friend of mine did it in Portugal and she was allowed to keep her heels though. It may depend on the recruiter in that case. I would say if it's your dream, not to give up but to prepare for the worst and expect the best. You can always apply to other airlines that may not be as strict. Good luck

    @miraclepieces5493@miraclepieces54932 ай бұрын
    • Hi! Most everything is online now so as long as you uploaded it when applying you should be okay and don't need the physical copy. They may even take your photo if you make it to the final rounds of interviews :)

    @EugeshaSpt@EugeshaSpt11 ай бұрын
    • Hello, it's hard to say for sure without seeing your teeth but I would suggest going to an Open / Assessment Day anyway and speaking with the recruiter. They can give you honest feedback and you can always reapply once you know what to do :)

    @lorenzogarufi9768@lorenzogarufi97687 ай бұрын
    • Hi Lorenzo, as far as I know yes that is the case because the requirement is actually from the Dubai Airport for all crew. If you don't have it, you will receive it at the start of training as they do medical exams. My suggestion is to get it though anyway as different countries have different requirements. Good luck :)

      @catbeingcurious@catbeingcurious7 ай бұрын
    • taken directly from emirates' site : "All passengers travelling to Dubai are no longer required to present a COVID‑19 vaccination certificate or perform PCR tests. " Does this applies to cabin crew as far as you are aware? I wouldn't want to waste time going to an open day if i don't meet basic requirements as vaccine is not mandatory right now and pointless at this stage.@@catbeingcurious

    • Hello! The closer you look to the standard on the EK website the better you will look to the company: www.emiratesgroupcareers.com/cabin-crew/ If you make it to the end they'll take your photo for final approval also. If you don't have these items don't spend tons of money either, as you can always borrow heels or a skirt the day of for the photo part if you make a friend. Make a friend at your Open Day if you can, it'll help with nerves too🙂 I think nails can pass but try to find a black skirt and heels if possible. Also never forget your shining personality.
