Everybody thinks Khamzat is just gonna run through Gilbert. I doubt that will happen. Of course maybe Khamzat really is that good and can just steamroll everyone in front of him to the title, but things don’t usually seem to work out that way. Gilbert is a legit, proven elite level welterweight. If there are holes in Chimaev’s game, I’m sure Gilbert can find a way to exploit them. I really have no idea who’s gonna win. Chimaev’s hype train is so massive right now, his fans are saying insane shit like he will knock out Usman and move up and knock out Izzy. Pretty crazy for a guy who’s best win is over Li Jingliang. Don’t get me wrong I’m a huge Khamzat fan, but we really ought to slow down and give the guy time to show how great he really is. I’m expecting this to be a competitive fight but I think Khamzat might be able to pull it out late. I don’t think Gilbert is gonna get demolished on the ground like the Leech or come out scared to death and get starched like Gerald Meerschaert. My guess is that Khamzat controls him on the ground enough to win rounds and avoid Gilbert’s submissions.
