Those tractors say "Putt putt putt putt putt putt putt putt"!
and if you not fast enough with the steering wheel out of the fly wheel than ...Baam ! 😚🤣
Not putt putt putt. Boom Boom Boom 🙂
@@chrish4596 Yes, that about sums it up!
@@hugejohnson5011 10 liters in 1 cylinder can t putt putt putt. 🌋😎
@@chrish4596 It's amazing that one cylinder has a volume that large! The DD15 Detroit Diesel engines in the Freightliner tractors that I have driven for work, are six cylinders, each with 151 cu. in. (2.5 L) and that seems big, but a 10 L single is a monster!
da geht einem wirklich das Herz auf. Danke für die Schöne Bewegbild Produktion!
They start soooo smooth. Sometimes you see people cranking these like crazy to get them to fire. All these needed was a gentle nudge and just ran beautifully. These tractors look to be in great condition and taken care of very well.
Thank You! Greetings

Absolut !!!!❤
Good old “Armstrong Steering”✅
Atemberaubendes Video.
Danke:-) Gruß
I once was at some vintage car meetup in Rosenheim. One of the guys had the same model the wife here was driving. Late afternoon, some local kids showed up with loud stereos and loud exhaust. After a while, the Lanz driver was fed up with their posing and started his bulldog. Not only was it louder, it also had better bass and on top of that, when he modulated the throttle right, it shot smoke rings upwards. The kids left not much later... ;-)
Hi Elvis! thank you for this video! it makes me remember 57 years ago, i was 17 years old and used to spend my holydays on a farm in austria. They had a Lanz Bulldog like yours, a Steier 2 cylinder and at last (for me ) a 35hp Massey fergusson. They used the Lanz coupled with the cereals thresher, the hay blower an alternative saw. Quite a spectacle with the long crossed leather belts.. At lunch time they did'nt stop the engine so it stood alone in the farmyard with its POK --------- POK ---------POK i stroke/second! Once they hitched the Lanz and the Massey-Fergusson...the Lanz dragged the MF all along the farmyard! LOL
Grüßen aus neuseeland. Fergie 35 tractors were very common here in the 1950s and 60s... now there are so many makes of machine to choose from...even Deutz.... There are still plenty of little Fergies living on farms, being used to pull boats out of lakes and at beaches, and to pull equipment at sports grounds. They never die./ Sie sterben nie :-)
Einfach Toll diese Lanz Bulldog. Unverwüstlich super
True mechanical bliss!
Ah, the good old days, hand start and Armstrong steering. But what a magnificent sound!!!!
Beautiful engine sound! Like music.
Interesting fact about the Bulldog engine: it can run at zero RPM! If tuned correctly, the cylinder head will bounce off compression, draw air through its cylinder ports, scavenge exhaust and continue to fire, all without ever making a full rotation.
Yes. Thats true. 0 RPM Video in Shorts. Greetings
Horror!
Kindheitserinnerungen .....
I remember that sound very well. My neighbour Herr Holzman had a Lanz Buldog. We were always fascinated by the big noise. We were 6 year old kids in Bavaria. I think one of the issues with Lanz was the power weight ratio. People switched over to McCormick, or Deutz or Fendt which had modern Diesel engines.
i was engadge to a lady round about 19 78 her father had a farm with 5 landz tractors he then bought a fiat 640 this fiat did more than all those bulldog tracters
Drove with this when i was a child...❤.... Never will forget😊
Its like the tractors have solid and heavy heart that shakes the body when it beats, lovely solid machines
It sounds like some sort of contraption Wile E. Coyote purchased from Acme corporation...
I have only become aware of these tractors in the past 3, or 4 years, I would guess. I love to hear them run and see them work, pulling plows, and such. I also like that when they idle in neutral, they almost clear the front wheels from the ground with ever power stroke.
When idling, it´s like they say "I wanna work, I wanna WORK!" like dogs eagerly waiting to pull the sleigh. Beautiful machines❤
thats not neutral though, they idle in 1st gear ;-)
@@mezlo64 I am talking about when they are idling, at a very low rpm, just sitting there, with nobody on the tractor. I have seen it on other videos. They would have to be in neutral, or have the clutch disengaged. I don't know what you mean, exactly.
@@wmden1 It is a 2 stroke engine, which means it can run at 0 rpm. The crankshaft doesn't do a full rotation. The piston just compresses and goes back again when the fuel ignites. If you then engage the clutch the wheels do the same, they go back and forth. You are right normal engines would stall but this engine has so much moving mass and torque that it doesn't ;-) Oh and edit, i am pretty sure they do not do that in this video - but you mentioned clearing the front wheels from the ground.
@@mezlo64 I'm sorry, and don't want to be argumentative, but that doesn't make good sense. I know a 2 stroke engine, even a fairly modern gasoline one, can be started and ran backwards. I have watched a lot of these videos. They do rock the engine backwards, by hand, when they start it, but it rebounds and starts in the forward direction, in neutral. I have never seen one sit there and the flywheel continue turning back and forth. The flywheels look to weigh about 200 pounds. It would put a lot of stress on the crank and connecting rod to run back and forth, and I haven't seen one sitting with the wheels pulling back and forth, either. I guess it could happen, but that would be very dangerous to have it in gear, and doing that. I don't think that would be part of the design intent, but just a byproduct of that design. Also, in my first comment I said, "almost clear the front wheels", key word being, almost, and I didn't specify, in this video.
Beautiful Iconic Tractors and two happy human beings sharing their love of H. Lanz Tractors
Vielen Dank, dass Sie uns Ihre tollen Lanz-Traktoren zeigen😍! Wunderschönes Video🎬!!!! ( Aus Frankreich😉)
France ❤
Danke:-)
1:53 - Wow! Look at mama giving that machine some strong-arm power steering! Looks and sounds awesome!
The Lanz Bulldog tractors were nice and strong for ploughing and haulage work. Their Single Cylinder two strock hot bulb engines were very economical and sturdy and easy to maintain 👌.
Do they run on diesel? Or what fuels them?
@@rumtum99 They run on diesel, kerosene, crude oil and other low grade fuels. Neat how those can run on different fuels
@@apismellifera1000 they are amazing. I don’t know what year they’re from but it is pretty amazing it’s still around and functional
@@rumtum99 Even though I am IH guy Lanz Bulldog is another favorite tractor of mine. I like it when you run it real slow the engine will go back and forth or as some call it running at 0 RPM.
These Lanz Bulldog tractors would run on any fussle or vegetable oil, which was the cheapest at the time. It gave the best results on crude oil.
True mechanical bliss))
I'd rather hear engines like this today than all these sports cars with big bore exhausts.
Even though I am an International Harvester guy Lanz Bulldog is another favorite tractor of mine. Greetings from the USA.
Besser als ein V8 Motor Und ein Harley Davidson Sound 💪👍😀❤️ Da bebt Die Erde
Das war noch "Musik" in meinen Ohren.....
Zweitakt-Diesel-Einzylinder ❤
Thanks for sharing Golden Oldie, very impressive & enjoyable to watch.
LANZ - Good German quality. No wonder John Deere once bought this amazing German company 👌💪
Gleichfalls! Danke für das Kompliment! Geben uns, als Filmlaien, große Mühe:-) Gruß
Excellent report, all my youth reappears; next to my parents' house the farmer had a little newer Lanz Bulldog, he would start it up in the morning, and it would run all day, even during lunch break, the sound of his engine rocking our day. Starting was facilitated by a gasoline starting system, once started, the farmer switched on the diesel. I still see the trigger pot all dripping with oil. At that time, no power steering, no air conditioning, no assisted brake, in fact nothing for your comfort, only efficiency counted! I know this Lanz has been sold, what happened to it? I would love to hear it turn again. When I think that some morons would want to send all these relics to the scrap yard ... I'm green with rage. Congratulations to the restorers, great work
In the late 50s John Deere bought Lanz AG.
awesome video
Awesome Lanz Bulldog video especially with a sub woofer!!
Thank You:-)
Wie macht der Lanz? Kult! Kult! Kult! Kult!... Genau so isses :-)
Those tractors are pretty darned amazing and to imagine all this gets done with ONE cylinder! I have a 59 John Deer 730 2 cylinder diesel but it had electric start and power steering and its fairly comfortable to drive. I take it out a few times every year for plowing and disking CRP land, it get about 50 hours of actual farming work every and its one of the most relaxing things that I do!
There's a small grey/blue Bulldog that I have seen around Stratford NZ
10 liter displacement, but also large mas "flywheel" and so.
Wunderschöne Alte Traktoren LANZ !!
Absolut geil!
5:05 ride like on big choppers 😃
Thanks for posting this extended, well-shot video. I LOVE hot bulb engines!
jazzfan6 ~ These hot-bulb engines had a piston the the same size as a paint can.
Great video - A friend used to have one of the last Lanz to be produced when John Deere took over the factory and it was painted and Badged as a John Deere.
What a sound , incredible machines ❤
These being two earlier make machines; I notice that the conical exhaust shape is much more volume than the 1954 models. The large conical exhaust is actually an exhaust box to level out the single cylinder exhaust pulses and yield a smoother torque output. The Anglo term is "exhaust box" dating back to the early piston motors in history being sleeve valve or poppet valve.
I knew a German doctor in Tübingen who told me of an old Swabian farmer who was struck by lightening, but survived unconscious. When he woke up in the hospital the next day, his first question to the doctor was: "Ischt der Bulle hee?" (Is the Bulldog kaputt?) The doc said his Lanz Bulldog was fine, to which the farmer said: "Dann ischt alles guad", discharged himself, and went back to work.
Perfektes "schwäbisch":-) Greetings
There's something endearing about a beast that you have to coax to life and it thereafter sounds like a dinosaur belching after a huge meal.
Bulldogs are so cool! They make my KTM 690 engine look like a .049 Cox ;-)
That is an absolute beautiful piece of equipment right there. How lucky can one get!!!
I’m British but our German friends are brilliant engineers
One day there will be nothing like this left running, or perhaps allowed to run. That will be a dark day. It’s a sound that fed millions for decades.
They sound like MG42
This is German couple goals!
now that's how you live out the best days in retirement. thanks for sharing.
Maravilhas da engenharia
Geiler Sound echt mega 💪💪👍
They look so majestic thumping their way down the road.
Lambswool seats and everything! Must be the deluxe model!
Mama don’t mess about strong arming that rig about 🤘🏻 lovely pair of machines
the sound............. takes you back to childhood
Herrlich anzuschauen.....ein Traum...
His and her Bulldogs...nice!
Those old tractors were works of art.
lovely old tractors nice to see good people looking after them
Awesomenessss 👍
Someone has to drive thru the village at dawn to wake the neighborhood!
WOW !!!!!!! Amazing machines, just take your thoughts back to when these tractors where new, built by men’s men . Great video thanks for sharing it was grrrreat to watch
Thank you very much! Greetings from Germany!
They were probably good tractor back in the days lots of history there.
Magnifique!
Machines with souls.
You guys are moving right along! Even the tractors are fast in germany.
U nas w Polsce zawistni sąsiedzi już by napuścili Policję.
solid lumps and steer well ready to work
Fantastico video👍👏🙋♂️🌈💚
no air-conditioned cabin, no power steering, no GPS, no music (except for the engine) .. but how did they live ?????? 😂(I saw some, in our French countryside .. (I am from 1954) )
Sounds even better than a Y-block V8 (or any 10 000+ rpm race engine)!
That's couples goals right there
Everybody should have at least one Lanz Bulldog.
Yes:-) Greetings
Macht weiter so.. 👍. Und bleibt gesund
Gleichfalls. Danke:-)
I like the big fenders, especially with the perch for your doggy or kitty. The sound reminds me of my old 125cc motorcycle that never ran quite right. Thunderbolts and lightning, very very fright'ning. I would like to have heard the horn!
See my video "Der Bulldog und das Horn". Gruß
See my Video "Der Bulldog und das Horn". Regards
Look how clean they run
How does the transmission engagement work? Is it a standard clutch?
Das stimmt 😊
I was surprised that the old things could move that fast . Even uphill . lol
Pure torque laddie, pure torpue.
Wundervoll❣
Very nice tractors. So well maintained. But the back looks so bare to me, how did they use attachments?
Pull Mouth on the back! Greetings
A very unique one of a kind tractor and was great to see them both running so well and driving. Ear plugs optional.
Thank U:-)
Such Engineering! Amazing!
5:15 sounds like a v twin😂
