What’s really sad is the owner kept it for so long and only let himself drive it 1,500 miles. I’m REALLY hoping he had a second one and beat the snot out of it every Sunday afternoon. Win win.

      @easley421@easley421 Жыл бұрын
    • @@easley421 A little late to answer this, but that texture on the lower sections of the sides below the crease line is how they came from the factory. It was intentional. I believe the thoughts were that because the car was so low, the areas down there would be subjected to road debris and would be harder to maintain a mirror shine, so to circumvent that to some degree, they made it wrinkly. I haven't measured the paint thickness in those areas on mine. Perhaps I should just to appease my curiosity.

What gets me about this car is how someone owned it, clearly took very good care of it, but only drove it 1500 miles in the 3 years it was driven. I've always wanted a Miata or something similar, but never really been in a life situation where it made financial sense to have one, and I can tell you that if I finally got one I'd rack up those 1500 miles in the first month!

I had it for 12 years but the last two years, it became such a hassle to drive it because people are just getting stupider and stupider and there are more and more cars on the road. It got to where I was afraid to use it and I thought to myself, "If I can't enjoy it on the road, then WTF am I doing with it?" and I sold it.

  • I get that the owner/family wanted to be meticulous about it and that’s awesome, but why the insistence that the top never come down? That’s exactly what it was designed to do and it’s not going to do any damage or devalue it at all. Heck, as part of the inspection process at the factory they probably put the top through the full range of motion anyway. I would think irreversibly removing some paint through a correction would be a bigger deal to them than putting the top down and back up which is something nobody could ever notice.

  • This was amazing to watch. While mine definitely has had a rather tough life with almost a dozen owners, this helped me envision what it would’ve been like to see these on the showroom floor if I had been alive at the time. Thank you.

  • Oh how I want this Miata. You won't go fast at all, but man will you love those turns. I've only had experience with the NA and since I grew up always seeing these as a kid, it's so good to see it the condition I remember them.

  • I too recently detailed a red 1990 Mita Convertible - same wheels and black top. It is garaged in the northeast winter and run Spring through Autumn. Not quite in the shape as this 1500-mile beauty but not bad for a 30+year old car. Yes...verrry thin paint - I needed to be REALLY deft and patient during machine polishing with the single stage paint - took what I could/left what I should! Once done - coat of sealant and topped with a coat of Carnuba. Gorgeous. This vid just puts the cherry on top of this fabulous survivor. Sweet!👌🏼

  • Finally sold my 1990 MX-5 NA in January. I thought 66K miles was low mileage! I see you're using your AR630, just ordered mine from AMMO NYC on Friday, can't wait to try it out!

  • Great video to start the weekend. Tyres, belts, coolant, coolant pipes, braking fluid... will need replacing as well. This car will also possibly require a full fuel system check and purge. A higher mileage with a regularly driven car would be a lot better.
