The dog was trying to make friends. The silverback was just protecting his family. There are no villains here.
Thank u for saying that. 🙏
Exactly!
You mean like Harambe? He wasn't even protecting his family.
@@badeugenecops4741 Harambe is a whole different scenario, Eugene
Silverback got the family a pet dog
Silverback was glancing back and forth like “um, someone wanna come get this dog?!”
I saw that, I was laughing so hard, you can read his thoughts. He was totally looking for the Zoo Keepers "I don't know what to do here bro... if he comes at me or my kids, you know I gotta smash him... you better get in here..."
Its back was not silver though. I call white haired men in Asian dramas "silverbacks". Rule of thumb about Asian dramas: The Silverback is Always the Bad Guy.

Ugh. Let it go. You people are just as bad as the George Floyd ones. It happened, move on.

Sounds like a pitch for a Disney movie 😂
Gorilla was like "nah man, I ain't gonna end up like Harambe" 🥲
Awe, poor pup! He quickly found out that he didn't want to make friends after all. I'm glad the dog was rescued. The zookeepers were smart to lure the gorillas inside for their special treat before rescuing the dog.
i highly doubt if they would have attacked the dog. they are intelligent enough to realize that something so small is not a threat. they rarely attack anything.
@JohnEastmanExAttyAtLaw it also helped that the dog realized not to come any closer and remain at a distance.
I guess dogs are not gorillas' best friends.
Some monkeys train dogs and cats to protect them,.too.
@@NuisanceManway to stoke my human ego 😂
The dog was just curious and wanted to make friends... the gorilla was protecting his family. I'm glad it ended with no one getting hurt. Animals are wonderful... all of them!
Nice. Very impressive. Now lets see Paul Allen's plagerized youtube comment.
You mean Intrusive?
Animals are great. Humans suck.

This dog looks really well kept for a stray
stray dogs are pretty rare in california anyway, dogs don't really roam in most suburban/urban areas. He's probably lost or abandonded
Mhm folks drop dogs off in the streets all the time as bad as that is - mine was dropped off somewhere to before we adopted em so that means he belonged to someone else - makes sense to cause he was already trained

Agreed so glad the dog wasn't hurt and yes the staff all around Humane Officer and Zoo Keepers did a great job at defusing that situation if could've been so much worse.
I would be terrified if our security was in the hands of a million women.... as humams, we ought to be smarter than that.
Americans love their badges. Everyone wears a badge, even the dog catcher…. 🙄
I’m glad that the dog was rescued safely and hope he will definitely be adopted after this news story. Also very relieved to hear that the gorillas also weren’t harmed and there was no altercations between these species.💚
He has a collar, so he's definitely somebody's dog. Hopefully, he has a tag or is chipped.

I am going to have to compliment the silverback for being so firm but polite with that dog.
Yeah and more importantly _neither_ animal wanted to beef with each other. You’ll notice that when the dog turned his head to the side, the silverback didn’t advance and backed off. Most if not all non-human primates view prolonged eye contact as a threat or a challenge, so when the dog looked away, the gorilla saw that he wasn’t trying to fight and signaled the dog wasn’t a threat. I’m grateful this story has a happy ending for both parties, I was nervous this story was gonna end like Harambe’s.
@@rogue7723 very well said. i feel exactly the same way.
Yeah, as soon as the dog trotted off beyond the ape's territory, the ape stopped and stood his ground. The dog knew enough to know not the F arround with those hairy buggers.@@rogue7723
@@rogue7723Gorillaz and dogs both see eye contact as a threat. So it was a win/win situation.
Ironically the dog may have courted more danger if he fell in the chimp enclosure where they've been known to fling stray raccoons like Frisbees. Also fortunate for these very peaceful gorillas that it wasn't someone's stray kid who fell in instead because we know how police and zoos handle those situations.
Beautiful dog. Should be adopted quickly!
Beautiful dog, and a lovely temperament too - I hope this publicity will get him a wonderful home. So glad neither dog nor gorillas were harmed, they are all precious souls, trying to live their best lives.
i wonder if it has a bit of Australian kelpie in the mix. friendly and athletic like a kelpie anyway
@@AndyPat239 Probably not. We don't have many kelpies in the U.S., and the few we do are mostly working dogs. Most likely some kind of retriever mix.
A gorilla wouldn't be harmed to save a dog, only to save a human.

Gorillas : Why are we running after our lunch today ?

Such a stupid comment. Embarassing that someone calls that humor
What a loser
That's pretty disturbing that the dog was able to get in there that easily
Not really. All he had to do is jump. Easy to get in but almost impossible to get out. Not including the keeper doors obviously.
Yet a child can get in just as easily as the dog did & families coming to the zoo expect the staff to be mobile babysitters.

This dog is a genius. Couldn't find a home, so he jumped into the gorilla enclosure and everyone noticed him. NOW he'll get adopted because he's a celebrity. I doubt the silverback gorilla would've hurt the dog as long as the dog kept his distance. Silverbacks can throw down if they have to, but mostly they're all bluff.

It’s reactions like yours that create the fear that killed harambe many yrs ago. “Saved” as if the dog was in imminent danger.

If the gorilla wanted to get him he would have.
The gorilla could never outrun a dog. As long as the dog had somewhere to run he would be safe. Getting confined with nowhere to go would be the problem.
@@davemiller6055 depends on what kind of dog it is on how fast he's capable of running. Also the gorillas were called back to their feeding area so if they really wanted to go after the dog they would ignore the calls to go back to that area they're wild animals they don't need to listen humans if they don't feel it hence why I said if gorilla wanted him he would continue after the dog. Gorillas are strong & run fast as well. & In this case I'm sure the gorillas had a bit more intelligence than the dog that jumped into that enclosure lol

The main troop (Winston family) was in the back bedrooms behind the tan wall. The gorillas that were out in the enclosure were Franklin ("Frank" 14) and Monroe (11) part of the Winston family, a bachelor troop. Both are still considered "black backs". Even though Frank is still a boy he is 400lbs (his dad Paul Donn 450+lbs) and if he wanted to catch the dog he would have. I've followed Frank since he was born, and knowing his personality he just wanted to chase the dog out of the enclosure mostly. Looking at the video there are periods where both Frank and the dog stop and stare at each other. If Frank wanted to catch the dog he would have. It may not look like it here, but Frank's actually got a rather cheeky personality: kzhead.info/sun/h9ZwZLV9p3ame40/bejne.html
I'm certain that you're right. Animals know when they're in danger, and that dog wasn't displaying aggressive behavior. The gorillas are also well fed, so there'd be no reason to attack the dog. Humans are the only life form that kill just for the "fun" of it.

For real!!!
He’s small enough to slip into places a gorilla is far too big to do so themselves.
That happened at the Boston Zoo in the 90s. A gorilla escaped and killed a local woman. The defect in the pen that it escaped from was not found, so they kept that gorilla separate from then on. Edit: Oh, and in more recent years, a huge male orangutan at the L.A. zoo was notorious for escaping!!

Gorillas aren't THAT aggressive buddy. Sure, it has the strength to kill a dog but it's not going to go out of his way to kill the dog.
The silverback wouldn’t physically attack the dog unless it was being an active, serious threat, I.e., physically making/attempting an assault on the females or young. Gorillas are fairly tolerant of outsiders as long as they keep a healthy distance and aren’t acting aggressively. The silverback knows he can handle a dog that’s 1/5th his size. He’s not going to waste his energy pummeling it.
They are gorillas, not chimpanzees
@@peterp2153No but he could have easily misinterpreted some action of the dog's for a threat. I do, with my book knowledge, and zero real life experience, not believe he would have hurt the dog for what was shown in the video.
