What COLOR works best for night hunting? You'll never guess which one! Night Crew S5E8

Night hunting with lights has been said to only be possible with a certain color. It's been said it can only be done using THIS color. But are we as hunters looking at it from a human's perspective when e should be asking what does the coyote see? For decades it's been pounded in our heads that coyotes can't see a certain color light and that MUST be why they come in to it without hesitation. Looking for success hunting at night, our brains have openly drank the kool-aid and believed THIS color light is THE ONE! They taught us a coyote will not respond to any other color than THIS one, simply because of it's color. BUT IS THAT TRUE AT ALL???
It's human nature to experience success hunting at night and want to connect or attribute that success to a specific color light we were using at the time. Why is that??? On this Night Crew episode we will discuss colors (a very touchy subject among night hunters) and show both WHAT COLOR LIGHT WORKS THE BEST and WHAT COLOR MATTERS MOST if you plan to hunt coyotes at night using a light.

  • I'm addicted to these Night Crew videos. Among all the channels out there on KZhead, I believe yours is the best. I notice that you have a portable light fixture that has four spotlights on it. Any chance of finding out where one of those could be purchased at? A very useful and effective tool!

  • I think this was probably the best night hunting of coyote footage I have ever watched. Y'all did an amazing job with the narrating, the video footage, and the information given out. I was always under the opinion white lights spooks the animal, but after seeing this, that's not the case. I don't mind red light but it's harder to see them at distance and red light just doesn't light them up all that well far away. I just recently got a new green light that's much brighter so I can't wait to go out and give it a try. Thanks guys for the excellent video and for the information!

  • In the last two years I have purchased a scanpro light, then the following year a thermal scope from UNV. Then I replaced the rings on my day scope to ZRO Delta. All three items in their own way have been a great advancement to me. This season I got my first kills using thermal, 5 so far! I still get so excited I forget to press the record button on the thermal scope, 🤣🤣. So I have 2 out of the five on film which I share with the cattle ranch owner. It’s good to show them I am making a difference. Oh yea, I also have on miss 🤣🤣. Keep videoing and placing them here I have definitely have gotten great info from your videos. Merry Christmas to you guys and the family.

  • Yall are lucky, not 1 critter in these south Georgia woods sticks around if you hit it with white or regular halogen. Haven't tried green but red works great, it's like you're not even shining them. I use a red light to scan and an nvs on the gun.

  • I remember reading somewhere that you guys use a .243 but I was wondering how 5.56 works against predators? I currently have an AR15 and I’ve seen many videos of people using AR15s to hunt coyotes and was wondering where a good place to start would be. Do I have to have thermal or just a good light system? I’ve also noticed you typically run suppressors and was wondering if you noticed a difference between not running them?

    @sirbunningham@sirbunningham2 жыл бұрын
    • Just make sure that your AR in question likes feeding your chosen ammunition, and that you got a good optic up top. Other than that 5.56 works great as a varmint round, especially the ones that undergo expansion, from regular hollow points all the way to more expensive rounds specifically designed for varmint hunting. If you're certain you need a name to look for, not a hunter I know talks bad about Hornaday Vmax. Also this is what *I* like, but if I'm hunting varmits from a static position, I usually switch to the smaller 10 round magazines, no reason you can't use standard 30s, I just find it more comfy. Like they were saying at the end, the Scan Pro head-mounted light is much faster than using thermals, they seemed to like it quite a lot. I noticed that they use a lot of suppressors at night, and that clips of their unsuppressed shots usually happen while the sun is still out. Night is when varmints are most active, so an unsuppressed shot at night has the downside of scaring more away in the surrounding area. That's fine if you're after 1 or 2, but you'll be elongating the time/ amount of nights you spend outside if you're looking to clear out a high number.

    • You too. One motto I’ve always lived by is if they can’t hear it, they ain’t coming to it. That doesn’t mean blast it on 50 everywhere you go lol. Just means make sure you point the call in at least a couple different directions before you leave a stand. That’s why I really like multi speaker options that Foxpro offers. Let’s you cast in two directions at once. Bottom line is we will try and make sure they can hear it in the size area along with whatever wind may be at the time. Around here in good conditions with certain sounds that’s around 15

I’ve had it with these videos that are only for artistic and melodramatic entertainment. And a product endorsement to boot! Without really even giving thorough information on the product. What about answering the question with the science behind the coyote visual spectrum. I’m shopping for a good light for the exact same purposes as a farmer, and you gave me zero helpful information. For those of you actually hoping to learn something, coyotes cannot see very well at all into the red wavelengths. But What do these guys care with their near movie stage set lighting? Yes, I’m in a bad mood, as I just wasted my time, and the title purportedly implies they will accurately answer a question. But All i heard was “ just get whatever light you feel like man.. it’s just a feeling dude gotta go with what’s in your heart”.
