When I got into WH in 2020 I didnt even pay attention to AoS up until a year and a half ago. It was the Sylvaneth that got me, more specifically Alarielle. One of my LGS was shutting down because the owner had to sell his shop to pay for a heart transplant. His entire stock went on sale for half-off to help pay for his surgery too. I had recently moved 2 hours away and thought I would go in good faith anyways and give him my best wishes. I didnt expect much left to be there, as half-off WH models is a hobbiest wet dream lol, but I was determined to buy anything I could to help out. Long story short that was the first time I had seen Alarielle the Everqueen and instantly fell in love with the model so much that I became a Sylvaneth fan at that very moment. Fast forward to now and that owner ended up passing away a year ago due to heart failure even with surgery. To me he'll live on through Alarielle, and in a way, thanks to him I discovered a faction and game I really enjoy. Im sure he would have been delighted to see how far my army has come since the last day I saw him. Sylvaneth will probably forever be my favorite WH army no matter how bad or good they get in the future thanks to him.
What a beautiful way to commemorate him. Sylvaneth are certainly one of our favourite factions and it sounds extra special to you which is amazing to hear.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! I'm so happy to see you doing more AoS content on the channel! You can bet I'm excited for those painting challenges. I love AoS, I started during Christmas 2019 after a friend recommended it to me. Now I own 9(possibly 10) AoS armies, all of which are over 2000 points, including around 15,000 points of Stormcast.(at the time of posting this comment using current points values, of course) I love the setting, I love the lore, and I love the game. Though I'm prepping for 4th edition right now by painting more than playing at the current moment. But here's my 5 favorite AoS armies and a (hopefully) brief explanation on why I like them. This was not easy. 1. Stormcast Eternals- This is the army that made me fall in love with AoS. Simple as that. Read the Realmgate Wars books if you want proof. 2. Nighthaunt- Gorgeous models that paint up excellently with an airbrush, but their current rules are in a weird place, and building Hexwraiths and Spirit Hosts makes me want to become a ghost with how awkward and fiddley they are. 3. Gloomspite Gitz- My first army, I might rate it higher if managing the Bad Moon was easier and if the Spiderfang models got a refresh, but 3, I think, is a good place for them. 4. Lumineth Realm-Lords- Excellent lore and beautiful sculpts. But they're a bit of a pain to paint without plenty of sub-assemblies. And I hate that Teclis is an auto-include. (Disclaimer: I've only painted the Wardens a.k.a. Pikemen as of the time of posting this. So maybe the other units are easier?) 5. Cities of Sigmar- I want to rate them higher, but I haven't played a game with them yet; and I only have 10 Steelhelms built, not even painted, I'm waiting to get a new laser printer so I can print out some unique transfer sheets for my custom City.
Some great choices! Yeah we are really looking forward to the AoS painting challenges, there are some great minis to pick!
1. Sylvaneth. Love me some Bugs and love me some plants 2. Kruleboyz. Solely for the monsters. Love the idea of them going round and collecting monsters 3. Seraphon. Lizards on Dinos. 'nuf said 4. All Death factions. If I can be a necromancer in a game I'm gonna 5. Cities of Sigmar. Wasn't a fan of the fantasy models but ooooo that range refresh. Of course all these will be bumped down one once gw releases Silent People. Give me my giant bug people already. Even as a underwordls warband I just need them.
That's such a strong Top 5, we really struggled but you've nailed it here. (Even if you cheated and chose all death factions 🙃)
Painting Lumineth nearly broke me (and did break several Warden spears). They can look beautiful but they're not a relaxing army to paint for me. That terrain piece though *chef's kiss*

5. Fyreslayers, reading the gotrek and Felix books was what first brought me into warhammer, and slayers always have a special place in my heart for that. 4. Skaven, I love the idea of horde armies, even if the painting is another thing. 3. Beasts of chaos, see above 2. Seraphon, riding dinosaurs is the coolest thing ever 1. Ogor mawtribes, dumb happy fat guys, my favorite models

This was hard, but here it is: 5. Ironjawz: I don't know how to explain it, but there's something about them that really gets me (maybe it's because they took the concept of Grimgor and turned it into an entire army, and I think it's really cool {Grimgor is really cool}). 4. Idoneth Deepskin: when I saw elves riding sharks and octopuses, I already liked the army, but it was when I saw the crab that I knew this would be one of the best AoS armies. 3. Soulblight Gravelords: SG along with the slaves to darkness fit into what I consider to be "hack armies", which are armies made up of a huge variety of units; having options for all tastes within a "Halloween theme". 2. Gloomspite Gitz: this army is simply brilliant. the variety, the theme, the characters, everything is hilarious and brilliant at the same time. One of AoS' biggest successes was creating an army for goblins. 1. Ossiarch Bonerippers: skeletons with an Egyptian aesthetic were cool, but when they released skeletons with a Greek/Roman aesthetic, I absolutely loved it (it helps that I'm a history enthusiast of Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire); the miniature of mortarch as if it were a statue of an emperor or general is simply perfect. honorable mentions: - Stormcast eternals - Kharadron Overlords (they are the only faction in Aos and 40k that can make me interested in machines and vehicles) - Sylvaneth - Slaves to darkness - Seraphon

Seraphon are easy to paint with contrast but the models also lend themselves easily to hobby painting where you put a lot of time doing gradients and shades and highlights. Really fun.
Oh and also one thing I really like about them as a hobby painter is you can choose the color you paint them. You could paint them also any color and it would work.
It's a sign of a fantastic model when they can adapt to any colour you choose 😁
I found this podcast through seeing your Karla von Karstein/ Thalia Manticore mashup, which is epic. My top 5 are 1. Girl power snakes (DoK) 2. Soul Blight 3. Nurgle 4. Cities 5. Emo sea elves
Girl power snakes is how we'll refer to DoK forever 😂
My top 5 is: 5. Idoneth Deepkin - Only 5th place because they have so few models and the Eels/Sharks are so static. They (along with KO) are the best example for why AOS was so needed. They're a super creative army of soulless, raider elves riding sea cratures, that summon a magical sea to go with them whenever they need to fight on land. They're absolutely gorgeous too, especially the Eidolon. Something like this could have never existed in WHFB, unfortunately. 4. Gloomspite Gitz - Gitz are so, so cool. They've got mostly absolutely killer models, even the old doritos that are Gobbos. The Troggs are so cool, they look whimsical but also threatening enough. The Squigs look goofy but they have so much character and implied movement (the Mangler squig is the best model ever made by GW imo). Theyre just silly little guys that are actually terrifying to read/think about. 3. Nighthaunt - they look like they came out of the old Disney Fantasia movie (the wild hunt scene). Some of the most beautiful models ever made by GW, and they're the best army to show how cruel death can be in the mortal realms. They are absolutely terrifying and thats the best thing about them. 2. Skaven - the best WHFB faction, hands down. Maniacal, endless, cackling rat people with mutated monsters, miniguns, coca-ehem warp-powder and the coolest Greater Demon. Hell yeah. 1. Stormcast Eternals - Yeah they're the main guys. Do I feel shame? Absolutely not. A million times cooler than space marines, literally every one was a hero with (metaphorical) balls so big Sigmar decided to make them into demigods of pure lightning. Teleport right into the heart of the action, die, explode, repeat. Also, bonus points for gender equality.

I also enjoy Stormcast Eternals. Skaven and Seraphon (just for the slap match that is them in Warhammer 2 because I really enjoy that dynamic), Tzeenth cause I can mess stuff up in clay sculpts and call it the work of Tzeenth, and Cities of Sigmar so I can just use whatever model I want that looks like Order and no one can complain. (I WON'T LET THEM. [Tilt head to side as I summon Tzeenth fireballs]😅. It's a joke don't take the bold letters seriously please) Though all of this is theoretical it is still fun to share.

Only recently started AOS, the hardest part was choosing a faction because they are all amazing! Such a great range of models! Inevitably went Stormcast because a Dragon as a General and Dragon riders is just epic! Great video as always guys keep the AOS content coming 🍻🍻

Yay, AoS content! I agree, there are so many great armies, it is hard to pick a top 5. That's how I ended up with 8 AoS armies... 5. Fyreslayers (Mostly due to the Magmadroths, thb. But I like dwarves in general.) 4. Soulblight Gravelords (Vampires and skeletons!) 3. Kharadron Overlords (Steampunk sky pirate dwarves with a phenomenal aesthetic.) 2. Slaves to Darkness (Badass chaos warriors with added variety by some cultists and beasts.) 1. Sylvaneth (Tree people of all sizes mixed with crazy bugs and "elves" form a fantastic whole.) Honorable mentions to my other armies: Sons of Behemath, Stormcast Eternals and Cities of Sigmar. Honorable mentions to some armies I don't have (yet): Seraphon, Disciples of Tzeentch, Maggotkin of Nurgle and Hedonites of Slaanesh.

You guys are actually my only exposure to AoS, so this was a fun video. I like the minis, I just don't follow any creators that talk about both beyond a painting pov.
That's exciting! It's certainly an avenue we'd like to explore this year, we love talking about it and painting the minis.

I played Lizardmen 25ish years ago, and when I got back into the hobby I was gobsmacked at how incredible Seraphon are. I've picked up some of the original classics for nostalgia sake but these new models are perfect. The Kroxigors are *Chefs Kiss*

Top 5 for me are the armies I have collected/started/expanded from Fantasy days : 1. Gloomspite Gitz/Orruk Warclans (I count as one - as they were) 2.Sylvaneth 3. Flesh Eater Courts 4. Daughters of Khaine and Idoneth Deepkin (underwater mash up counting as one) and 5. Skaven. Honourable mention to Seraphon - we let our son collect his army of them, but I will collect and paint my own one day & hubby will expand his.

When i came back into the hobby i immediately fell in love with the Terrorgheist. Was also pretty cool i just had to get 4 start collecting boxes and i was done. Now with the refresh of FEC i am hyped for all the new cool models. Got some Skaven too, So waiting for their refresh :p Got the Dominion box on launch and started collecting the Kruleboys. I also got a small amount of Beasts of Chaos, just waiting if they will ever get the refresh they deserve. The last good Beastmen models were the Killteam Fellgore Ravagers. Wrong millenium :( (This would also be my top 5 in order of mention)

Also, you guys should do an Age of Sigmar battle report! Even if it was a one off thing; I guarantee there’s so many people that would love to see you guys leading some armies!

Love your channel and your videos guys. Would absolutely be keen to see you do more painting channels in the AoS universe but I would really love to see what you could do to an army in a whole week, not 12 hours. You are both awesome creators but i feel the 12 hr challenges limit you SO much that the results dont do either of you justice. 12 Hour challenges for single models would be awesome, but for whole boxes it is just overdone now on YT. I miss seeing a focus on quality and not speed. One week for a box is still really damn quick and I bet you would do so, so well. Keep it up legends!
Thanks so much for the support! Certainly an interesting point, I think the format in which we do it is slightly different given the wheel of misfortune element but totally get your point! After WOM3 we'll be doing Hero Hammer which utilises the WOM but means that we dedicate an entire day to 1 mini (regardless of size). There's space for much more of a creative flex that way 😁
As someone looking to start AOS, the choice of faction is difficult due to the sheer amount of quality minis. Coming from 40K where you have Valrak and Auspex pumping out some brilliant content, i do feel you lads could hit the AOS scene hard. We need more AOS rumours/leaks My top 5. 5. Soulblight - they would be higher if there were more vampire units like the blood knights and the crimson court. More vampire warriors in red armour please GW. 4. Serephon - a great range refresh. Hopefully this and COS sets the bar for future AOS updates. 3. Ogor Mawtribes - starving for an refresh but after seeing what they can do with the Tyrant and Hunter, these could possibly be higher. 2. Sylvaneth - Belthanos and Alarielle are both unbelievable models as well as the 'Ent' like models. I'm unsure of the tree spirits. If the spirits were elves, i think these would be top. 1. LRL - absolutely beautiful models but I know i couldn't do them justice with a paint job. My single favourite model may even be the new Beastlord. RIP beasts of chaos
That's such a solid top 5, some really solid points made around content too, although there are some phenomenal AoS content creators, we're huge fans of Rob (The Honest Wargamer) definitely recommend giving him a sub if you haven't already!

Idoneth Deepkin -> turtle 🐢 for fighting, cool underwater Theme, love it 2. Sylvaneth Trees, trees 🌳 and trees, beautiful centrepieces, just wow! 1. Ossiarch Bone Reapers What’s not to love about them? They are accountants, there made a culture and art out of bones, they love to collect, beautiful horses, funny catapult with little legs, cool centerpiece ❤ just love this girls and boys

5. Seraphon - just a really cool model range 4. Blades of Khorne - cos I play World Eaters and they are a fertile source of kitbashery 3. Flesh Eater Courts - fabulous realisation of lore through models and gameplay. And such lore. 2. Kruleboyz - mostly just for the incredibly creepy Marshcrawla Sloggoth; but the aesthetic in general is great. 1. Gloomspite Gitz - I loved ye olde night goblins of yore; squigs, mushrooms, daft lil lads. It’s got the lot. Honourable mentions to Cities and Sylvaneth.

If you look past the memes said of Idoneth Deepkin, they should be a strong contender for top 5 (Ok I was painting Namarti Reavers when I saw your video pop up, so yeah I'm bias). When done right, they should resemble every nightmare that people have of the deep sea in real life. GW have huge ceiling space to draw inspiration from to bring more to the faction in due time. I went from distant laughing at them, to being really into them and making them my first AoS army. Of course there is hilarity in riding floating sharks (Sharknado anyone?) and electic eels into battle, but it should give horror show, drukari-esque, "dont even think about going near the ocean" vibes.
Deepskin are let down by the meme's....
1. Seraphon, just love their whole thing 2. Orruk Warclans, ironjawz and kruleboyz amazing and the bonesplitterz have held up pretty well. 3. Skaven, need a refresh but they're just great and the new models look great. 4. Stormcast, the concept speaks to me. 5. Kharadron Overlords, the steampunk hits so well. Would probably only get seraphon and warclans but tbh most AoS armies are great. And more Age of Sigmar content would be amazing.

You know, as someone who plays Ossiarch, FEC and Cities, I can respect this list a lot. I agree, they went to town with the FEC expansion.

this top 5 will be tricky to make xD, i joined aos start of 3rd ed but only really started playing last summer. but still that launch has pretty much set my fav faction atm otherwise i would have started with nighthaunt but here is my top 5 ^^ top 2 was easy but the other 3 are hard xD 1: kruleboyz, they are orks i just fell in love with. they are sneaky, brutal, have the coolest shields and monsters and i prefer their headshapes ^^ they sold me and i decided to wait with dominion instead of buying some starter boxes with ghosts ^^ 2: fec, the dragons sold me, i always loved those but wasn't a fan of the ghouls until now and learning their lore, i was sold on them recently bought some boxes and than i learned they were getting an update xD and the update is amazing 3: seraphon, il pick them just over khorne for models as i love dino's especially the ankylosaurus is so cute 4: khorne, specifically deamons. i really love the cute doggies and bloodletters on rhinos and their overall vibe the bigger ones are also amazing but sometimes a bit to much for me 5: gitz, easy squigies are the best ^^ their other models are also okay but i think they still need quite a bit of updates and my kb throggoth just looks so much coolers the gitz ones look kinda meh i still like nighthaunt as well but the sculpts look a bit more meh now and other factions look more fun gameplay wise etc and in the end my tastes might change again once i get some nighthaunt ^^

@@the_kieran_show yeah 😅 I know many dislike them cuz they don't look like the other orks which is the thing I love about them as I love ork lore but the minis weren't my vibe until kruleboyz ^^ And gameplay wise they could do with a few changes but I overall I love how they play ^^ And I still have to meet an opponent that didn't liked my kruleboyz with their beach theme ^^

Honestly, Seraphon are so nice. I loved the faction in Total war warhammer 2 and I started collecting them. I would love to see a similar type of army introduced in 40k. The last old ones, that hid for millions of years are finally coming back, with Lizardmen and Slann servants. To rid the Galaxy of Chaos and retake control.

Thought I'd jump on the bandwagon Top 5 AoS: 1. Stormcast Eternals(They are just really cool and better than Space Marines. Like when I think 40k Space Marines I don't get excited but when I think Stormcast I get excited) 2. Seraphon 3. Skaven (These 2 cuz of TWW2, Lizards higher cuz tankie) 4. Disciples of Tzeenth (warped, altered, kitbashs? Clay sculpts?) 5. Cities of Sigmar (Can use whatever I want so long as it resembles an order faction.)

Truthfully, we love nighthaunt and it did feel bad not putting them in. We did mean to give them a special mention.....but forgot....
One more in favor of more AoS content. I love me some 40k grimdark, but the over-the-top crazy high fantasy of AoS seriously gets it done for me.

Seraphon the greatest. Honestly think the saurus warriors might be one of the best mini’s in the WH imo. Very simple, impactful and easy to paint. And even still you can take them so far with your skill. Them being lizards/ reptiles, you can do all sorts of paint schemes. You don’t even have to have 2 units the same if you don’t want to. You can justify them as different breeds, or different varieties. Bright vibrant colours, dark muted colours or a blend of either. Detail all the metal parts and go the full distance on the shields, or keep things nice and simple? It all works superbly well There’s also a great spread of sizes in an army on the table. Going from small skinks right up to your big carnosaurs and steggadons. The new range really helps sell that factor even more. Makes for a very impressive display on the tabletop

@@the_kieran_show here’s an idea. Spin the wheel, but it’s what paint scheme you use. Use a website to give you your 3 colours and metal, then see what wonderful saurus come of it.
Okay so my "tier list" is basically from someone who never played the game and only rode lore and painted models 5. Lumineth Realm lords- Standat High Elves, love their basic units and have cool heroes (the twins, Light of Eltharion) 4. Skaven- Yes, yes, project we started with my friend after reading Skavenslayer, waiting for new range 3. Disciples of Tzeentch- Cool guys, enjoyed painting them 2. Ossriarch bonereapers- Epic skeleton army 1. Stormcast Eternals- I can say that I had tears in my eyes when reading Gates of Azyr, where they were described as hope itself returning into Realms after Ages od Chaos

Still focused on 40K, but more and more tempted to build a fantasy army next. AoS have the most amazing models, but there’s just something about the factions and rank and flank of Old World. Either way, it’s going to be the Dinosaurs…. Because roar!

I got back into the hobby through leviathan but didn't want to painting the niddes. Convinced my gf to paint them till the seraphon came out, she now has a vanguard box of seraphon they're so cool the unpainted niddes and I can't even be upset 😂

40K is in atm. its having its hot girl summer and tapping into that is probably a smart way to grow your channel quickly. that being said the people who are going to stick around are the ones who like your personalities/dynamic. We are literally here to watch paint dry (on mini's) and listen to / laugh with you guys. Make what videos you want to and your core base will grow, just might not be as fast as if you lean into the 40k hype train.
In fairness it's been pretty organic so far, 40k will always be the more popular game and we'd never just do coverage of one game as we really enjoy both!

It’s true, there really isn’t a single bad army in AoS. In 40K there’s plenty of armies that I just feel completely nothing for, pure ambivalence. It’s worse than contempt, it’s just nothing. AoS they managed to really nail every single army with such a phenomenal aesthetic that is independent of near all the others, and the style of each army is significant enough to warrant a real look at each. If I had the money I’d honestly probably have 6 or 8 AoS armies; and probably 3 at most for 40K.

Based on model ranges and lore combined. Skaven fall off the list due to the ancient models for example. 1. Gloomspite (Goblins, Nostalgia, Dark Whimsy, absolute banger of a faction) 2. Nighthaunt (G-g-g-g-ghosts! Black Coach, Awlrach, etc) 3. Sylvaneth (Bugz) 4. Deepkin (I must cry but I have no eyes, baby its better down where its wetter take it from me) 5. Seraphon (Refresh was insane)

Top 5 armies are .5 gloomspite gitz because goblins and trolls and weird mushrooms. 4 tree elves (because I don't want to look up the spelling 😂 big trees attack saruman.... Cool. 3 orruck warclans of all flavours because they are all orks but different. 2 beasts of chaos because nostalgia and angry goat/cowmen. 1 slaves to darkness because they just make me happy. Please keep the aos coming I love this game and like you guys said there isn't an aos army I wouldn't do

At first I thought flesh eater courts were the worst ones, just the ugly little bat vampires who cares, but as I was looking around trying to decide on an army I kept coming back to them and they slowly came up the ranks until they became my favorite

I'll be honest I have love and respect for Daughters of khaine, Flesh eater courts and fyre slayers. The fact that they took a single unit/idea from old world armies and gave them thier own identity which works Is amazing
It's a sign that we (speaking on behalf of DoK) need some additional models
