When I saw this comment I thought the solution was that there was a thick line that could go though the remaining dots 🤣🤣
@@jeany5826 same lel
Interestingly enough, there are ways to do it in 3 lines and even one line technically. You could do it in 3 lines if you essentially draw a slanted N, hitting every dot once it’s stretched far enough. Also , if you were to print this on paper, you can roll the paper into a cylinder and then make one continuous line around the whole cylinder and cover every dot with one stroke. So always remember there are always more efficient ways.
Albert einstein has been really quiet after this
When thinking about this problem the N method was the first solution I came up with, and it technically is not restricted by the rules provided. In a graphical situation points and lines have zero width, so it wouldn’t be functional. However, he says “Like this” and with the size of the dots and lines provided, you can definitely use 3 ~0.01 slope lines to hit all the dots.
and still the n wouldn't work because it depends on how big thepoints are, in the end if we really want to do this with punctual Points it'ss nt possible no matter how long you stretch it. And thhe cylinder doesn't work with the straight lne but i might understood your explanation of it wrong
@Hermes The N works. Using the same logic and misdirection he used, we can infer that the dots are supposed to be the size drawn in the video, not graphical points, and he never said that they have to pass through the center of the dot.
Nah 2 box on left are dark one box on right is light which then makes the rectangle
My friend told me about this puzzle 7 years ago on the bus but he did not explain it to me clearly. I remember how I spent hours trying to solve this and now, here I am at last. The feeling of satisfaction from finally finding out the solution is priceless.

TRUE
+NovaCrackers hahahaha lol!!!
Hahhaha
+NovaCrackers savage
They never specified how small or large we had to make the dots or how much space had to be between each one. So in theory you can solve the puzzle in one stroke if you have a giant marker.
they said “like this” which points to the example.
Or just do this ......... And then draw a line through them
From bottom left Up, right, left diagonal, right
@Emma Lee 4 strokes is the maximum, not minimum
Big brain
I pretty much fried my brain trying to work this out because I didn’t know I could outside the dot’s borders lol. My brain worked harder than I thought my brain could work.

This isn't a genius test, it's a trick middle school math teachers use to demonstrate abstract thinking skills.
+Seliet It didn't say it was a genius test?
+nexus1g The video is called if you are genius solve this, I'm merely pointing out that genius has nothing to do with your ability or inability to solve it.
+nexus1g The first few frames of the video also have Genius Test by menkel something or other plastered in big letters.
Seliet "I'm merely pointing out that genius has nothing to do with your ability or inability to solve it." Genius has everything to do with solving the puzzle. Genius is how quickly you can use skills previously learned in a novel way to solve a unique problem.
+nexus1g Then everyone who was in my 7th grade math class was a genius because we all solved it back then. I'm done with this, you seem to be extremely adamant about defending this test as some sort of, scientificly proven method to test genius. It's not. It's from a book of mensa puzzles. It solving this doesn't make you a genius, all it does is test your abstract thinking skills, no more, no less.
Makes sense how this video got recommended after 14 years❤️
Me too
finally a modern comment
It's weird cause it seems like there's a way to do it with the implied size limit. You start off hitting 3 dots with your first line, and if you somehow manage to hit 2 dots per line in the next 3 lines you hit 9 dots exactly (3 +2+2+2 for each line) you can only hit 2 dots after you draw the first, unless you expand the lines out or do some of the things suggested. The main problem with trying to do it legitimately is that the dots aren't in a possible configuration. The way they're set out makes it so that the last 2 dots you'd need to hit are impossible to get with one straight line.
Guess I'm a genius then, managed to solve it without looking

Idiot you draw that on your paper
There is actually a simplier solution, where you can solve this puzzle with a singular line. If you make a tubular object out of this sheet of paper you could actually send one line going all the way around it under a small angle, so it hits all the dots. And before you say that it's impossible to make a tubular object out of a sheet of paper: use glue, duct tape, stapler or anything otherwise adhesive or binding in order to fix parralel ends of the sheet of paper together, thus, creating a tube.
The fact that i solved this almost the same way you showed makes me mad cuz i didnt get it when you specified that the lines have to not be separated. If i knew that it probably would take me a lot of time to solve. Thanks

Your an smarter genius for making lines perfectly and making the black dots even more perfectly
It is possible with only 3 strokes. Rules only say that the lines have to be straight. If you start with your marker way below the first row of dots, then draw a straight line slightly diagonally through all 3 dots in that row so you can turn around at the top and repeat for the remainikg rows, it works
The rules also specify that it must be 4 lines.

Okay, ffs these comments. This puzzle has nothing to do with intelligence. "Genius" is not a term anyone should ever really be using because it makes it sound like only some people are smart and that's 100% not true. In a classroom of 20 kids there is actually a pretty good chance that one of them already knows the answer, or will get it without trying, just because everyone thinks differently -- that doesn't make them some kind of magic genius. People need to stop pretending like knowing something others don't makes you better than them.
notsuretho With few exceptions, all humans are capable of learning pretty much the same amount. The only difference is in people's learning environments. Most developed nations these days have education systems that only certain people can learn in. And most of the rest of the people in those systems are discouraged from learning, because when they struggle they are put down by their teachers, peers, parents, and even the education system administration. They are taught that if they can't learn in one particular way then they can't learn at all, and that's demonstrably wrong. The fact that, as you put it, "only a small percentage of our population are truly genius" is a byproduct of our educational systems and has nothing to do with the human capacity for intelligence.

Easy. Just use a spherical piece of paper and start from the center. Make a stroke in either direction of choice: up/down, right/left, upper right/lower left, upper left/lower right. You will always end up back at the center so up/down is really one and the same, as are all other directions.

The parameters were implied to be within those dots, not outside of those dots, thus it isn't a fair puzzle or unexplained properly..
It's one of those "bending the rules puzzle"
No because they show us three samples, all of which uses dots so that was the implied rule.
"implied" does not necessarily mean truth.
If you refer to the definition of what a line is, The solution is legal. The instructions said, "your task is to go through all the dots using straight four lines and every new line must start from where the previous line ended". That's it, there isn't any additional info. The idea is to capitalize on how open the instructions are which is exactly what the solution does. If they tried to explain it further by saying, "You can make any line as long as you want" they might as well tell you the answer, and what's the fun of that? The definition of a line answers that though. Thank you Geometry class, lol.

This is bs answer. How about I just fold the paper in an origami so I can get all the dots in one line?
+KatariaGujjar That is actually pretty easy to do. First fold the paper into a cylinder and then slightly shift it where the 2 ends meet so the end of the 1st line of dots meets the start of the 2nd line. (hope that makes it clear) You can then draw 1 helix shaped line through all the points, which is in fact completely straight (you can check this by unfolding the paper).

That's incorrect. Every line must start where the other ends but one cannot start if there is no dot, therefore one not being able to start nor end due to conflicting principles.
