Linus: invests milllion into the Lab Also Linus: mouse on pad go weeee 4:24
Not to mention the difference in weight of the mice impacts the test considering basic physics ... Edit: It seems that I hadn't considered the increased static resistance force of friction due to the mice weighing more, I blame my teachers telling me to consider the force of friction negligible at different slope angles...
Blowerdry / wind gust is better yes
@@zedk9137 And how used each mouse was
@@zedk9137 no, that is literally something you learn with the most basic understanding of physics. Two objects will fall at the same rate regardless of their weight. The only factor in this test is coefficient of friction between the surfaces. If you do the math the weight term cancels out completely.
@@zedk9137 well, not entirely. The weight of the mouse affects the force of gravity pulling the mouse down the pad and the force of friction holding it up. The only difference between the two forces is the affect of the angle on the force (sine vs cosine term) and the frictional coefficients of the mouse feet. Thus reducing the force balance to g*(cos(Theta)-n*sin(Theta)=a

What I would love is if LTT could use their lab/merch experience to make/sell their own mouse hardware core and design a 3d model for people to be able to 3d print their own mouse size custom to their hand size. I REALLY want to be able to 3d print just a smaller sized G305 WLS mouse but after looking around on the 3d print custom mouse community for years its still too hard/unhelpful, I believe it's bcos there is big money in custom mouses from existing makers.

Dude I'm high as shit and I just realized how cool having the labs is gonna be and it shocked my world😂😂💀
@@Dr2Chainz It has the potential to be one of the most important things to happen to this corner of consumer technology in a very long time. PC gaming manufacturers have worse than Apple in terms of peddling overpriced, underperforming products (cough cough Dell cough cough) and Companies like Razer, Logitec, etc etc are all benefiting from selling "pro" or "high-performance" peripherals to consumers who have no way of testing that performance except their own subjective experience. There are companies that do third-party testing of this hardware, but they don't publish their results. And most people wouldn't be able to make sense of them anyway, if they even bothered to read up on their new mouse or keyboard or gaming mat. Having an easily-digestible but rigorously-researched video that discusses the quality in an objective manner is (pardon the pun) game-changing.
Boys check out optimum tech, guys got half the resources and provides the same if not more data on products through similar testing. Not throwing shade at LTT just providing another great source.
It's freakishly difficult to even see where the obvious Return on Investment even is with Labs... which makes it so much cooler in context. Seasonic sponsoring the Chroma psu tester video...the 3d rendering of a keyboard for testing methodology before a robot arm clicks away... the ?50k$ headphone test dummy... anechoic chamber... The labs staff costs, the building... it's seriously insane just what level of investment Linus is getting into, yet I also know how much of it involves Yvonne actually doing the maths.. and I'm all in.

@@FACUNDOX197 it’s a custom machine, using a robot
The lab testing of products will be a game changer in product reviews. Its nice to see hard numbers showing where companies cheap out in areas that they promise the best while relying on our flawed human senses to not tell the difference. It doesn't matter if you cant feel the difference if you paid for it. If they don't give you that performance even if you cant tell they still overcharged you on a false promise.
atleast with the lab we can take objective results in concideration
I agree. Recall that "Tommy Hilfinger" computer stuff that Linus reviewed and found you're paying for the name rather than quality.
can you though? their "test results" are based on showing a robot moving a mouse and a piece of software spitting out some numbers..... what do those numbers even mean?
@@article1934 Basically by having a robot move the mouse, they know every movement is exact. So they measure the inconsistencies and differences from what the robot does vs what the computer reads. That are accurately testing what the mouse is actually capable of.
@@article1934 what exactly did you not understand about his explanation? But even if you don't understand what they mean, you can still use them for comparison. Seeing that one mouse is an outlier from all the others should already be a red flag.

@@intiblade yeah, that was kinda iffy. I thought they would use a load cell to measure the force required to push the mouse sideways. Maybe in the next review 🤷🏼♀️
@@Jehty21 If they did a formal lab test, they'd do it with angles, just way more reliable. And here, better to show visually, IMO. Need to get a balance between information and presentation, and for that, it's fine. Optimally they show some angles on their mat (as a standard between tests), that'd be best.
@@vocassen I disagree - the test in the video is just a test of how much friction is required to move the mouse, and not how much is required to keep moving. (i.e. static vs kinetic friction). It's possible that another mouse feels smoother despite it being the last to slide, since static friction != kinetic friction. It's a nice visual test, but a tad misleading.
@@louiecastle462 static friction is literally the worse thing for shooting tho, especially on high sense you're constantly shifting to a static position and moving the small amounts required to aim effectively is impossible with the energy release from static.

Glad to see the lab testing these. One of the most exciting thing about the lab is that once they build their library of devices, you'll be able to find something you've actually used to compare to. The sheer scale and consistency they are going for is something completely new for reviews. Hype
THANK YOU!!! I have been a HUGE fan of Glorious. As I’ve had the Model D and D-, the TKL GMMK, and even got the mousemat. I ofc in fanboi fashion, got the O2 wireless recently. And I’ve had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH USING IT IN 2.4. Like horrible stuttering and frame skipping. I’m SUPER disappointed in them. As my Model D was perfect. Good thing I still got it. Still, imma just get something altogether new.
Good conclusion at the end, that the deciding factor once you get to this tier should really come down to personal preference. I bought a few really good mice, including the Superlight and some Razer something or other, and as long as it's not a case like these Glorious ones, they all perform basically perfectly. I landed on the g303 shroud as the one that fits my hand and grip the best and returned the Superlight. I think that too is a good example that you really should try these things out yourself, and not just take everyone's word for some mouse being more or less comfortable. Everyone has been saying for a while that the Superlight is pretty much the perfect mouse, and that it's soooo comfortable.. and then they all say that the g303 is weird or something like that. So I recommend buying from somewhere with a good return policy. 'Cause in my experience, it's VERY hard to know which you'll like until they're in your actual hand.
Great video, having a special lab to test such different products on different categories puts this channel a few cuts above all else... Such a visionary desicion and futureproofing. On another account, I saw a kickstarter product named "Flux keyboard" that innovates the whole "keybaord that's actually a screen so it can adapt to different languages and layouts" idea by making the switches and expansion packs all hotswappable. I'l love to see that product on this channel or ShortCircuit. It really felt to me like someone tackled the whole "best of both worlds in adaptability and tactility" problem is solved this time.
Great cinematography on this one guys. Loved the panning and close ups

A mouse review with immense precision in specs is great, the labs are paying off already now that you guys have become a definitive good source for mouse reviews Hope you guys start investigating some of the weird exotic mice like G Wolves stuff next
Wut? Mouse reviews are NOT what I go to LTT for, it's such a trivial thing - use what you like. I use a logitech G9X with the 'speedgrip' or whatever it's called, fits me, it's light(most custom weights removed) and precise enough. But I don't know or care if anyone else would like my mouse, nor does it matter.
Just saying this, I love the lab style results. Super hyped for future lab developments
Did someone knows the name of the machine they used to calculate the accuracy and precision of the mouse?
Very interesting commentary on the Glorious product line. As an early adopter of Glorious for both my keyboard and mouse (O wireless & GMMK TKL Keyboard), it's disappointing to hear. I ran with Glorious because they initially offered a very reasonably priced entry point into the enthusiast keyboard scene, I loved the ergonomics of their mice, and they had reasonably positive reviews. I've personally never had any software problems aside from difficulty upgrading the firmware of their mice. I think my next mouse will probably be a superlight, because it just doesn't seem like it offers competitive enough results when compared to other mice in the category. I think randomfrankp not noticing a difference when using the model O2 wireless is more attributable to how little a difference you actually notice. The differences might look big on paper, but unless you're a competitive player, you probably won't notice a difference. I think it does speak to his integrity as a reviewer, because he could have framed Glorious in a completely different light for his own gain.
I'd also suggest trying out a steelseries mouse. Their firmware and software are rock solid, build quality outstanding (except for the rival 310 where they chose the wrong glue for the rubber grips) and they last super long (still have my sensei RAW from 10 years ago), running a rival 3 wireless atm, but their Aerox and Prime mice are insanely good, best sensor on the market (same pixart as the rest of em), their feel is sturdy and comfortable and they're light af, I mean the aerox wireless is literally just 5g heavier than the superlight
@@ianvisser7899 how much did they pay you 😂?
@@ItzMeKarizma he's right tho. I used my rival for like 6 years, and only recently switched to g305 'cause I wanted to go wireless. The rival is still going strong, no switch failure, no nothing (gave that to my mom)
And they didn’t mention the price difference. The model o right now on amazon is $70, everything else in this video is close to $100 and over.
@@tonyhall06 well, if you go with the 80 dollar g502 wireless, you end up with a heavier mouse, but much MUCH more accurate and responding. also they reviewed the o2 not o. and here in germany the model o wireless costs 94,99€

Really glad I watched this vid, was on the edge about getting a model o mouse but now I defo aint getting one
Please do the Xtrfy MZ1 wireless next :D The shape is just too good, and want to see how it compares to other mice in performance in your tests.
I agree about look and hand feel being a deciding factor when all else is functionally equal. I bought one of my two mice mostly based on the fact that it looked cool. (Also reviewed well on Short Circuit.) Edit: It's an Xtrfy M4 Retro or M42 Retro, I can't remember which.
I got a pulsar keyboard. And I feel their quality control is sometime sub par, I had to fix some solder joint myself. Maybe it could have been a good idea to check one from a retailer or a hidden shopper to make sure you haven’t got a hand selected one.
Would love to see a video with a more broad comparison of mice done by labs, with an inclusion of the DeathAdder V3 Pro. Also would be cool to get more than one sample of the same mouse, to rule out defects, and look at things like mushiness of side buttons and what not. I ended up liking the DeathAdder V3 Pro because the side buttons "felt" better than the G Pro Superlight to me (and USB-C). But I could have just had a dud with bad side buttons. (They barely stuck out from the body, were not satisfying to press; Which is very different from the original G Pro, which used to be my daily driver).
Now i'm curious about what you guys would think about the xtrfy mz-1 since that was designed by rocket jump ninja and his whole thing on KZhead for a long time was testing nearly every mouse he could get his hands on
for the glorious model o, you can change the debounce time to 0ms, and that drastically reduces the click latency. Great video regardless!
I have the black X2 Mini that replaced a Viper Ultimate, I am very happy with it, extremely nice mouse I really like the hump which makes it great for claw and very usable for palm compared to my Viper Ultimate that was extremely flat by comparison. BTW you can improve the click latency with Pulsar's software by reducing the debounce time to 0, by defaut it comes at 4 I think and that is why you might get that click latency, so far using 0 I have not had any weird click behavior or double clicks that I could notice so I could say it's perfectly fine to use this setting or 1ms if you want to have some peace of mind.
Honestly, really enjoying Labs data in the LTT videos. The testing methodology here is so much better than just "yeah they all feel pretty good". Excited to see what else is cooking up in there!
Got a Pulsar X2 about 5 months ago since it was a bit cheaper than the G Pro Superlight. The only issue I've had is the mouse wheel starting changing directions after 3-4 months. I did however spill a drink near it in the first week or two of owning it so I took it apart completely to clean. None of my mice are stock so I just swapped a new kailh red encoder into it and it's working fine again.
A review like this but testing gift mouses or bussiness targeted mouses (like thinkpad's ones) would be great!
Not only that I love the review video but I really love the way you shot all of the gaming mouse lineup, especially the close up of the mouse @ 3:33!
I liked this video, but I would've liked if they added a cheap wireless mouse to the testing to see how differently it compares. G305 for example, which is around $30 in UK, compared to the $100 for the others
Thanks for being honest and critical with your review. This is what I expect from you guys.
Really have wanted to try a Pulsar mouse and this definitely sold it. It’s also great to see Glorious catch heat from a major player in tech after all their BS
i daily a Razer Viper V2 Pro simply for the optical switches, cant get dust in there which i seem to have a massive issue with double clicking etc on any mechanical one, which is weird to me because my setup is clean, but +1 to Razer for being a step ahead
This is a good mice tbh, I used this as my main since my hands are too small for Gpro superlight. the only downsides for these are it's software. it does not let you know if the battery is low and some terminologies with it's additional features does not explain that much.

Yeah the model O2 was kinda a disappointment. Been using the original O wireless and love it I was hoping for the second iteration to be better but honestly think just sticking to the originals before seeing the new ones is a good idea.
I like my Model O 1 wireless a lot. But the software is stupidly bad. For years I couldn't update my firmware, after reinstalling windows I was able to. I think we all can agree the colours on the mouse are really cool!
Sliding test. Assuming both have the same friction against mousepad. Heavier will always start to slide sooner. So that test can be performed only against same weight.
The Lab should have thier own channel, with videos with like the report of the week or months on mouses or keyboards etc. would be really nice, then you could also request the next products to be tested. I would love a little footnote explaining the difference between accuracy and precision in terms of mice. I had to look it up cause I'm not actually sure what those graphs are comparing. All they show is A is better than B. Just my thoughts on the labs graphs going forward
Yeah; I always like the shotgun example. The shotgun will give you great accuracy, but poor precision. You always hit your target, but it won't guarantee _where_ The counter is a sniper rifle with a misaligned scope: You always miss, but you miss the same way every time.
Agree. I know LTT has explained these terms before when talking about mice, but a quick refresher definitely would have been helpful.
Nice one Alex, love the "Frank P-ness" part
I bought a Pulsar X2 (non-mini) over the Logitech G Pro Superlight after Ali from Optimum Tech reviewed it a couple of months ago, and damn, I absolutely love it. Also, pretty sure the TTC Gold/Yellow scroll wheel encoders are one in the same, so the scroll wheel encoder is unchanged from the regular X2, and the Huano Blue Shell Pink Dot switches are similar enough to the Kailh GM8.0 switches the regular X2 uses, that the paint (and the extra grams of weight therein) is all you're really getting out of this edition of the mouse, lol.
For anyone who stumbles upon reading this comment, Huano Blue Shell Pink Dot and Kailh 8.0's do not feel that similar for me personally. I enjoy Huano Blue Shell Pink Dots way more.
@@nickfosley2882 switches matter. What matters more is the implementation of it into the mouse and how the mouse itself is designed. No switch feels the same across mice. It will have consistent characteristics compared to one another but not to the point of actually determining how it performs

and before anyone freaks out, It's just my opinion. I own both the X2 red, and the X2 RFP. I feel like the RFP version is worth getting your hands on if you have the option between the two. Because it has had incremental updates since the release of the original X2. RFP has a better coating, slightly raised mouse buttons, and smoother scrolling(preference). The original comment was trying to insinuate that it wasn't worth getting and it's basically the same, but there's clear differences(whether for better or worse).

it's only his elbows that exit the frame, it looks like his left arm has a mask they just drag down and back up (and same mask again the second time), and his right arm only goes below for 8 frames that it looks like got manually masked. 5 min at absolute most.
I think it would be cool if you guys included DPI varriation in your future mouse reviews
I for one use a much higher dpi since I had almost no space for mouse movement for 20+ years so yeah 800dpi just feels so bloody sluggish to me. Use to minute wrist movements not entire arm movements
@@Montisaquadeis true, i even plays games competitively with high dpi but i guess it's not that big of a deal when nowadays mouses are better at handling them
@@Montisaquadeis DPI varriation isn't just testing different DPI. It's a measurement of how inaccurate DPI settings are per mouse due to the distance of the sensor from the mousepad. Some high end $150 mice might have 800dpi setting actually be like 760dpi or 815dpi etc. Basically only a few mice are accurate in being close to the exact dpi. While DPI varriation doesn't change the accuracy of things it is the reason you can't copy pro players mouse settings for games like Overwatch, it simply doesn't work unless you have the exact same mouse as them. Two $150 mice at the same DPI and in game sensitivity can have up to a 30% difference in actual sensitivity easily
@@Peppeppukii Fun fact high DPI is actually a competitive advantage. It's especially important/underknown in shooters like Overwatch or Apex Legends. It's always better to have 1600 DPI with half your normal sens than 800 DPI with your normal sens. Old advice used to falsely say the opposite but now we know better. It heavily reduces the latency and increases the accuracy of micro-adjustment tracking specifically. Larger sweeping mouse movements latency/accuracy are unchanged where it basically doesn't matter. OptimumTech has a great video on it titled "Why gamers are switching to high DPI." While there are diminishing returns the higher you go like refresh rate, higher DPI is always better. 1600 (or even 3200) being the sweet spot for most, 800 DPI is significantly worse, 400 DPI is a massive disadvantage. And I am not talking about sensitivity, in game sens can be adjusted with DPI to make the same sens in game.
@@Montisaquadeis check my above two comments. I had the same thing. I am into competitive high level overwatch. Once I finally got mouse space and a high end mouse/monitor I have slowly turned down a little my in game sens over the years, but it's helpful to maintain a high DPI like 1600 which is helpful
I really like the Idea of KZheadrs creating good Products with Companys togheter, and not need to sell any Organs for it. I hope there is more of this Type coming.
Random frank p-ness 2:52
"This is where the random Frank P-ness of this mouse ends." How long have you been waiting to make that joke, Linus?
What i got out of this video was that my viper ultimate was a good buy. Love the lab!
I wanna know when we'll get some kick-ass upgrades for us trackballers. I really like my Logitech MX Ergo, but I think there's still lots of innovation that can be done in this space, without resorting to the very weird alt designs I've seen reviewed by LTT over the past few years.
This isn't a mouse by a youtuber. It's a mouse by a company who makes mice that allows youtubers to have very little input, only in the switches, scroll wheel encoder and colour. RJN is the exception with the Zy's rail though.
KZhead recently recommended Frank's channel to me, I like his style, seems like a good guy. As far as gaming mice, I prefer one with some heft to it, the light-weight thing is a no go for me.
thankfully.. and finally review for other accessories that a pc owner may use or want
I honestly have never heard of this KZheadr, but he seems cool! Thanks for the introduction!
He is cool. I love his Amazon buying and cool tech series.
@@gnanasabaapatirg7376 :) yep I'll for sure check him out!
I can't wait for labs to be fully up and running. Big W for literally everyone
3:32 why not include some superlight mice in the sample, like the Logitech pro X superlight? Seems like it would be more useful to compare it to mice in the same "weight class".
Linus builds a whole lab to test mouses and keyboards. Results come back Linus: so anyways lab results are pointless it looks and feels good in my hands
I bought one myself and my unit came with some tactile pretravel that I have never seen before in a gaming mouse. So make sure to take a proper look at your units once you receive them as QC might not be the best.
The Pulsar brand is already really good. I've watched quite a few videos of testing for their stuff and the X2 specifically does really well when compared to the G Pro wireless for $60 less.
I can't stress enough, how good the match between the mouse & Linus' shirt is, considering the fact that both were made completely isolated from each other & have no connection with each other. A lucky & happy Co incidence
Would love to see more LABS videos on mice!!! I made the move from an old Corsair M65 to a LAMZU Atlantis and wow...considering how crazy some of these new but basically "no name" brands like LAMZU and Pulsar have shown up recently, it would be very cool to see metric wise how they stack up against classic gaming titans.
Lamzu on top ngllll (I have lamzu too) Their testing here is super poorly done though
@@yhiz4757 I have a feeling that as labs starts to spin up we'll see some better quality testing. I saw some comments here regarding debounce being something that could have reduced the O2 latency issues, but since this is their first go at mouse testing I'm willing to give them a free pass.
@@KPS3ngineer no, they should have researched shit and shouldn't even be comparing an X2 to a model O2, O2 is more expensive and just absolute dog shit
11:13 cool to see that 3d pop out effect (we dont have the technology yet)
While it is more expensive, I find it odd that you didn't compare the G Pro Superlight, especially given that it's an older mouse and, if bought used or on sale, you could probably get within striking distance of the price (or at least I did with mine). Imo it's more directly comparable weight wise
You just answered your own curiosity, all the mice that were tested are around the price(new) of the pulsar X2. That's why Finalmouse Tenz, Viper V2, and DAV3 are missing as well even though they are similar in weight(except the Tenz of course).
Now this is unexpected xD I literally bought the x2 mini RFP edition just the other day and no one has been making reviews on it until LTT saved the day
I mean, it's basically an x2 mini painted in frankp's color
pulsar has fixed everything else but the click latency issue xD
Great to se the Lab coming to its own. This is the first one that I am really interested in
this is nice Linus, thanks for being transparent !
I've had a Pulsar X2 for a couple months and I LOVE it, light and the software is suitable for my needs.
Same. I’ve only had one issue, and it was because my Bluetooth driver was 7 years out of date.
Next week on KZhead: RandomFrankP reviews the LTT screwdriver.
Happy to see you making some money back on the lab 😂😂❤️❤️
I would love to see an LTT review of both the Lamzu Atlantis OG and Mini
Props to Brandon and the video team for the exceptional lighting on Linus’ face! Well done.
Brandon left but the other dudes are doing an incredible job.
