  • Man, his German is very good. Yes, there are some few minor mistakes here and there, but apart of these he sounds very close to a native speaker. The C2 level is well deserved. I only want to add, that all these super long words are seldom used in the daily speech. Don't worry. And Kafka is also hard to understand for many Germans. Maybe not that sentence in the vid, but his stories in general.

    • @F. Q. Didn't used to, though. All through secondary school I was just average with an average foreign accent. Once I became passionate about it later, it started working. I wonder if it is the same with all people or just some and requires some change of attitude. I don't know, others say that despite all their efforts they can't get it done. But there are definitely people that haven't even tried, the people who just keep 100 % of their native accent and there is no effort seen in the way they speak. IF they do, usually they struggle, their tongue gets twisted and a certain kind of struggle is apparent from the way they speak. I appreciate the people who at least try. Some people are just too proud to sound awkward and as a result never even try.

I've been learning German for 3 years, and first I took a part in a language course, that didn't give me the results that I wanted. Then I tried to learn German by myself using grammar textbooks...that also didn't work out. Because of the lack of motivation I stopped to do anything, and after some time I decided to discover the methods of polyglots about learning languages. Now I try to use a new method for learning German and I can tell, that I've already seen some progress. Thanks, Luca for your videos!

  • I'm learning German. The moment I saw the video title on how to learn German, I was like: Yeah, not by watching videos in English. Wait, what?! This is actually in German! AMAZING. Please, make more content in other languages rather than English. I know you reach a broader audience in English. But it's really interesting to find language learning media in the language you're actually studying. That being said, I'm so glad that by March I knew 0 German and now I understood 100% of what you said. Dein Deutsch ist mega deutlich! Weiter so! Grüße aus Brasilien!

Thank you for being a beautiful inspiration to us newbies 🥳. I am learning my 3rd language now, Korean. And will learn German eventually. So these series are very useful and inspiring. Please keep me coming.

  • Ach! - had to use a translator for that last bit haha. Luca. Ernsthaft. I am so glad I found your channel. It's given me new inspiration, new methods, and new progress to help me chase after my language goals, but the native speaker friends take first place in motivation. Sorry. :)

  • I'm doing Nicos Weg A2 (Deutsche Welle), reading comics with bilingual dictionary, watching movies on Netflix and live TV on KZhead and I can already understand 90% of this video without subtitles. For people struggling with German, go check a good textbook with audio or an online course like Nicos Weg. Brazilian and Portuguese native speaker here.

  • This is so timely and helpful. I would love further videos about learning German. The worst aspect for me is the articles, cases, and word endings. That sounds like more than one thing, but as any German learner knows, they all intersect in determining the endings of articles, adjectives, pronouns and nouns. I have come to the conclusion that only writing will consolidate ANY of this for me, because in speaking you don't have time to consider the details, but I despair of ever getting proficient in knowing which endings are needed when, even if I can do lots of writing practice. There are just too many variables to keep track of.

  • I have learned a bit of German for three years in school, but since last year I don't have it as a subject anymore, because I had to choose between ancient Greek and Latin or German. It was a hard decision, because I was very interested in both of them, but in the end I chose the first one. I still use it sometimes when I go to Germany on holidays, but not really more than that. I was really glad to see that I could still really easily understand your video with only German subtitles. Maybe I'll pick it up again in the future and then your tips will certainly come in helpful.
