  • Let’s be honest here, this Spurs team deserves talks in being the greatest team ever. The ball movement, the unselfishness, the unity, the defense, the fundamentals. That’s the way the game was made to be played. Not to mention they beat a red hot Kevin Durant in his MVP season and annihilated the 2 time defending champions like they was trash. Amazing team

    • said it before, and ill say it again....I never saw Kawhi as "that guy". I always had this feeling that he couldnt be trusted. Maybe it was how socially awkward he was i dont know. Enter Uncle Dennis....that was the nail in the coffin. Kawhis uncle took advantage of Kawhis social awkwardness. Maybe Kawhi wanted to be in LA no matter what, maybe Uncle Dennis planted that seed, and watered it daily, I dont know. All i know is that Kawhi is the perfect example of modern day players. Most of them are divas, love playing victim, and seem to have short term memories. The Toronto situation was confirmation of Kawhis bullshit injury. You had a team / country give him everything even winning a title with a pretty stacked team, and he still left for LA. Funny how several doctors could never figure out Kawhi injury, but only "Uncle Dennis" doctor" was able to understand. Another words....they went to several until one gave them the answer they wanted to hear. Give them the answer so they could use it as ammunition and a crutch to get out of SA.Tony making his comment had NOTHING to do with anything. Not to mention that Kawhi was around him long enough to know him, and saw the whole interview as well to know Tony's comment was spun by the media. To me Kawhi and Uncle Dennis will always be that impostor who comes off as this quiet humble guy, but will throw you under the bus, and stab you in the back for their own self gain.

    • @@Spurs2k23 I don't agree with all of you comments but it seems he is a bit of a diva. I have injuries that can't be diagnosed but they still bloody hurt so I'm sympathetic on that front. He clearly wanted to be in LA but he had that chance when he resigned with the spurs. I think it was the private team meeting that they had not so much the tony media interview that got under he's skin. He wasn't just their best player at that point, he was already one of the best in the world. I couldn't imagine any superstar taking that crap from their team. In fact anybody who feels disrespected in their work place is likely to leave. I would still welcome him back any day though..

  • This is why 2014 Spurs championship was the greatest among the NBA Finals. Defeated back to back champs Heat with 3 all stars. And looking at the Finals stats, Spurs had a balance scoring that no one ever average above 20ppg in the series. As the analysts would say, they played beautiful team basketball.

The defending champions cooly sitting on their thrones as the runner-up passionately seeks to dethrone him. It puts on display between the Spurs and the Heat. The Heat are full of swagger and arrogance but the Spurs are serious and on a mission. They want this championship badly and just looking at the defending champs resting cooly makes their blood boil. Reminds me of the finals they had against the Mavs where they made fun of dirk being sick and were mocking him. But dirk was quiet and all business and eventually won and put them in their place, just like Timmy. It’s the international players for the most part that just play more team focused and aren’t as fussed with being in the media’s eye. This is why I love players like Timmy, dirk, Jokic.

Indeed we are. Who knew that the secret to the team’s signature strength would be drilling that exact skill, as Tony says, “like 10, 15 times?” 29:40 --> Never stingy when it comes to tipping his hat, Lebron gives it up to a worthy opponent: “That’s how team basketball should be played. You know, it's selfless.” 28:31 & 30:50 --> Beautiful shots of Timmy and his kids.

  • After rewatching these videos, it is more clear to me now that Tim Duncan's approach to the game was far superior to Lebron's approach. Duncan always had the true mindset of team play, even in his speeches post or pre-game he would always refer to his team using terms like 'we & us'. Lebron almost all the time would be the opposite, trying to carry his team on his shoulders, using terms like 'I & me'. He always wanted to be a one man show for as long as he's been in the NBA, which in my opinion is his ultimate demise against the Spurs.

    @GilbertCarrizales@GilbertCarrizales3 жыл бұрын
    • yeah exactly, i noticed that too... especially in the 13' finals video. wade was almost as dominate as lebron, but there's all those soundbites of lebron acting like the entire responsibility rests on him to get the job done. he used to be incredibly self-centered and thought the league revolved around him. his mindset has changed a little as he's aged, but that hero complex was so annoying to me back in that era of basketball.

This Finals, to me, was the last true NBA Finals (maybe except for 2016 and 2021) experience. It also showed who the true champion was in the 2013 Finals, go ahead and fight me on it. Heat knew they got away with that game 6 win and the title in game 7. It was the classiest revenge story of all time and I doubt we’ll ever see that in the NBA for a good while. Can’t believe I’m nostalgic for 2014, but here I am.
