  • This shot made a real impression on me when I first saw it, and it established the Borg Queen in my mind as one of the creepiest cinematic villains of all time.

  • The footage looks amazing and still holds up today. No heavy reliance on CG. Well done.

  • The cut-away was early enough that it didn't hurt the effect at all and seeing the look on Data's face was quite important.

  • I've always be so fascinated with the borg make up effects and the level of detail on the actors when they are in full make up i mean at 4:29 thats a klingon borg drone...not just in first contact but also through the next generation and onto voyager aswell...love the borg look when they have the infrared beam coming from the side of their heads..that scene in first contact when the security team override the door and the room is in complete darkness then all of a sudden borg start activating and theres red beams all over the room moving towards the camera...thats iconic stuff.

  • She has one of the most uncommonly sexy natures I've ever witnessed in an actress. And I have no idea what it is, either. Maybe her voice...maybe her eyes and face...maybe both...

  • I haven't quite figured out what she was doing up there i the ceiling, but it's a fabulous entry! Alice Krige was in Dune 2000 also as Jessica Atreides and lots of other great roles.

  • It was the best entrance in a movie since Sean Young in Blade Runner.

  • Around 3:00 they make the engineering room feel epically huge just by panning around - the movie made it feel like a closet.

  • Technical question. Enterprise arrives hundreds of years in its past on April 4, 2063, and the Zefram Cochrane character was into 1950s music?.. Shouldn't he have been into something more modern than Ooby Dooby?

  • ...And yet, the transition remains visible. Subtle, but, cut or no cut, it still seems to be there.

    • And yet I'd never notice it after all these years until it was pointed out. It's a masterful shot for the time, and looks beautifully smooth compared to some recent cgi.
