I’m pretty sure you have no idea what it’s like to be in a position where you have financial hardship, but it’s not easy. It was even hard for my family to get our dog to the vet for checkups because they couldn’t afford an $80 vet bill. Not everyone has it easy to where they can afford these things. That doesn’t mean the dog isn’t loved. If the owner didn’t care about the dog, they wouldn’t have even tried to find a groomer to do their fur. Let’s not be so judgemental.

One day when I was in the vet waiting room, I saw a poorly dressed elderly woman enter with a poorly groomed dog. After they were led to the consulting room, I told the vet that I would pay her bill, - regardless of cost. God has blessed me. The look on that old lady's face when she came out to pay her bill and learned that an anonymous donor had paid her bill, - was priceless 🙂. We can all do acts of kindness for each other. What upsets me is the thought that the prior groomer surely knew this man was going through financial hardship and suggested a highly expensive and potentially dangerous (anaesthesia) veterinary procedure for a job that took Vanessa 32 minutes with a shaver and a clip lead!

    @obnoxiousbluebird6634@obnoxiousbluebird66347 ай бұрын
    • I concur completely - especially after considering how dangerous it is to anesthetize a pet. Obviously, anesthesia must be used for major procedures like surgeries and other medical emergencies, but the mortality rate of pets that receive anesthesia - even just anesthesia to hold them still for grooming - is disturbingly high. I didn't know this until recently, but I couldn't agree more that anesthetizing a pet is far too risky to even _consider_ for a simple grooming routine like this one was!

  • I am SO thankful for your attitude towards some of your clients and the awareness that we don't always know what they're going through. As you said, they managed to get their dog groomed in the end, despite some road blocks. He was a really good boy, who gave you hardly any resistance. But when he was fussy about havin his feet done he made me think of a page that used to pop up in my suggestions of a farrier in China who took care of donkeys who were, often times, very neglected. When you have a dog who doesn't want you to touch his feet that's one thing. But this man held on to the donkey's foot no matter how much it tried to kick him off. I can't even imagine what kind of strength it takes to do that! And quite often he would stand with his back to the donkey's head, and the leg berween HIS legs. So if he wasn't able to hold on tightly enough, the consequences could have been - ah - breathtaking! So when the next dog doesn't want you to hold onto his/her foot, remember that a certain Chinese farrier holds on at the risk of never again having any children! Great work Vanessa! I always look forward to discovering more of your grooms.

    • @@TeenDream888 The fact that Vanessa, who knows more about this situation, tells US as strangers not to judge tells me that we should definitely trust her. If she saw severe neglect or abuse, she would totally have called it out. I hope that people extend you the same understand and not put you on blast the way you obviously did not put blame on the owner (I AM being sarcastic here because you were horribly unsympathetic.)

    • @@NightOwlReader2790 of course she'd tell us not to judge because people can be nasty online. as a groomer she knows this is a form of neglect, however unintentional, but she's got a business to run and wants to keep everyone civil on the channel. it's okay to say that this dog was neglected and still be sympathetic of the circumstances, which I am. falling on hard times sometimes means surrendering your animal if you can't care for it or doing a home groom. I'm glad Vanessa was able to groom this dog for free and get to this dog before the mats created sores and open wounds. and I do sincerely hope the owner is in a better place. I'm sure this service helped immensely, even if it was just easing some worry.

    • @@TeenDream888maybe the owner can't do a home groom because of one reason or another. We are commenters on Vanessa's videos, not the judge and jury of the internet. We don't even really have half the story here, so why not just have faith that this was a situation the owner couldn't help and be happy that the dog is in much better condition?

  • This work is so critical to understanding what it takes to care for some of these breeds. “Doodles” are NOT a low maintenance breed, and I think people don’t understand that. Also, thank you for being so kind toward these owners. You’re right, sometimes life gets in the way of good intentions, and dog grooming gets pushed to the back burner.

    • Well, most dogs owners never go to a grooming salon, it's so expensive, I'm not used to see shaven dogs like that, they live with their curls and it's only sad when owners don't wash/brush their dogs when it's needed.

  • What a well-behaved boi!! Having had struggles in the past to keep up with my dogs' grooming needs, I can sympathize with the owner. Money gets tight, shame sets in, it's a terrible cycle that can seem unbreakable when you're in it. It's so great that Vanessa is so kind and compassionate. The owner probably went home and cried happy tears.

    • @@jesusislife9259Goldendoodles (and other poodle mixes) need specialised grooming. It's much more than just brushing them. They shed INTO their coat, and it felts (much like wool when you wash and dry it in the dryer). We had a Lhasapoo when I was in college, so I do have experience.

    • He was a very well behaved boy. And I'm so glad Vanessa helped this dog and his person. And she did it without judging them. I know The one true GOD sees, hears and knows all. And I truly believe because Vanessa helped this person and dog in need, without judging them, she'll be truly blessed. Some people haven't experienced trauma and deep dark depression, that takes all your energy away. Where you don't even have energy to brush your own hair, let alone someone else's hair. Some people are so fortunate that they don't know what it's like to be in so much pain that it hurts to move. Some people don't know what it feels like to have absolutely no energy or strength to even take a shower without being exhausted for a whole week after taking that one shower; because their body is fighting off a dis-ease. I do know how it feels. It ain't no fun. And those who don't know what it feels like are so quick to judge others. Some people truly cannot grasp an understanding until they themselves experience it. Proverbs 29:23 A man’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor. Something I learned some time ago, humble yourself or life will do it for you.
