Everybody is freaking out about how Dante Basco is the actor of Zuko, but how many people noted that fire bending for dummies is written by Sifu Kisu, who responsible for the martial arts in the show. That's how far they went for this episode

I met Dante Basco at a convention a few years ago, and he’s just a really cool guy. Super down to earth. If you’re reading this, Dante Basco, please go back to sac anime.
I met him at a convention too! He was there along with the voice actor of Azula I think.
That’s awesome!

Dante Basco's make-up is better than in the movie. And it's several dozen times cheaper.
Show's how much better practical effects are vs. CGI doesn't it?
CGI is so technological, they don’t even look real at this point
Im surprised they didn't ask Dante To just Play Zuko in the movie Anyway.
Same goes for his fire bending.
Yeah, but his scar is on the wrong side
Really is no one gonna talk about how Dante basco was air humping while chanting “HONOR HONOR HONOR”

Can we all appreciate that "The Storm" gave us a first look at Azula without us actually knowing at the time?
That's what happens when the entire show is planned out before the first season.

Tobito TV Yeah! It’s super wacky how the show works. I never got to see it air on tv. I was too young at the time to appreciate the show. I have a really weird perspective on the series because of that. I never felt the time build up, theorizing the ending, etc. I watched bits and pieces before I sat through the whole thing. Like, I watched parts of the final battle before I watched the first episode. So I’ve got a really weird view on some of the episodes here. I don’t care that much for Day of Black Sun. But I love bits of The Headband and The Mad King. I love every moment of Tai Lee in the show. I also have the perspective my sister loves most: the fighting. It’s super accurate, and each nation does a different form of karate.
Azula looks identical in that while Zuko looks like 3 years younger, she even looks older than him

Nintendo Overdrive yeah, people judge the entire ep on the Iroh bit. The others are good, but not top tier avatar except for maybe Zuko and Sokkas.
Chokovok My favorites are the tale of Iroh, because of obvious reasons, Momo’s, because it shows that he and Appa aren’t just pets that get along, and Katara’s and Toph’s, because it makes their friendship evolve a little more.
@Nintendo Overdrive I love the Momo, and Zuko bits, and if you don't shed a tear at the Iro section, you have no heart, R.I.P Mako
My boy Zuko is the only other person who has had the most dates besides Sokka. He dated May, when him and his Uncle decided in the begginning of season 2 to go to the Earth Nation the nurse that took care of Iroh was on my Bois cock then he had date with that one chick from tales of Ba sing Se she was thick my dudes. I saw the movie on a plane. Had no idea the original show was actually good. I think I made it about 20 minutes before deciding it was awful, and that's what I thought about Avatar for years. It was just a bad movie, based on kids show, with "whiny" fans angry that their cartoon was disrespected. Now that I'm halfway through the series, I understand. That movie totally disrespected the cartoon, and I intend to whine about it!
yessss we definitely have MANY reasons to complain
I've givee myself headaches from inwardly bitching about the movie as recently as last night and I've never managed to watch any more than a few minutes of it. I've seen clips and that was more than enough to hate it. Let's hope netflix does a better job.
"they had us in the first half not gonna lie"

@@margarethmichelina5146 Or that one time Zuko nearly got assassinated by them because of Zhao?
Aang's decision in the end is actually brilliant, it doesn't necessarily teach a lesson but it calls back to something said early in the first season. Aang first sets on his mission to master the elements when he goes to Omashu and meets King Bumi. It's Bumi who tells Aang what the duty of the avatar is, he tells him that he must confront the firelord and he says "And when you do, I hope you think like a mad genius." That episode was all about coming up with creative solutions, and in the end when Aang faces Ozai he creates an entirely new option that wasn't even on the table, as they put it here. Certainly seems Aang was thinking like a mad genius. It might be stretch, but at least it makes sense
I've been waiting for a comment like this.
Interestingly energy bending was teased early on with iroh teaching zuko about lightning describing it as a pure energy and untainted by emotion
He should have added The Avatar and the fire lord that was my favorite episode in season 3
After alll in the era before the Avatar, they bent not the elements but the energy inside.

I agree that it should be on the list. But don’t discredit the other amazing episodes. As great as it was, so many other episodes are just as memorable and amazing. This show makes it so hard to narrow down.
you should squeze the beach somewhere in there.
One thing I really appreciate about Avatar was the impressive fight choreography. Despite being an animated show, the movements of each fighter are really smooth and engaging. Also, the fights are used effectively, allowing the story to continue through the action.
Xeraphina Laurentia well, considering every animator was forced to learn the martial arts they were animating, skyrocketing my appreciation for the show. That's dedication right there.
i actually think they were able to make the fights look so good BECAUSE it was an animation. Animation, when used well, can do stuff that is impossible with live action.
They actually hired martial artists to help with the shows choreography and not only that but i love how each benders personally and techniques are shown in the action. In the episode "the chase" one of the most memorable moments for me was the 1v1v1 between azula, zuko and aang. One of the best moment's is when aang runs and azula after pushing zuko back persues him inside of a two story house that has no upper floor. Aang using an air scooter hovered in the air giving the illusion that there was a platfrom in the upper room, azula runs straight in and nearly falls off the edge of the entrance before recovering her balance while aang waves at her jokingly, then zuko also persuing aang runs straight in and falls highlighting his impatience and short sight he had at the time. Its moments like these that i love as it puts personality into the fights instead of just throwing fireballs everywhere
@@quplet Not really. Bryan was the one who actually was studying the martial arts. Bryan and Sifu Kisu ( the martial arts consultant/choreographer and Bryan's teacher) would come up with the choreography together and make film reference for the animators to use. The crew had taken some lessons to understand some of the basics of the movements, but the majority of that was done by those two. That's actually one of the things I dislike about Legend of Korra (apart from an occasional episode or two). The martial arts in LOK feel completely soulless and uninteresting, and it felt on par with the Shyamalan movie as far as the choreo goes.
@@TaoOfTheFist I can believe that. And all of LOK is soulless.

Even with Channel Awesome's fall from grace, I still hold Doug's Avatar Vlogs and these reviews close to my heart. It was so much fun watching someone fall in love with ATLA, literally transforming from a person watching a show because they felt FORCED to for their fans, into a passionate champion of the entire series. Watching Doug slowly "get" it, day by day, was a treat. Plus, he got Dante fucking Basco to give us the live-action Zuko we deserved, in addition to splitting reviewing duties for the finale with the hero of the fans. Thanks Doug.
Hmmm. What's fall from grace to you, to me is a bunch of twenty- and thirty-somethings having to grow up and learn about what type of contracts they are signing and the career they've chosen. We normies find out about it as soon as we enter the job market and no one cries over us. All I'm saying is now that the old crew is free to do what they want we can actually gauge how popular they are without external help and most of them have failed miserably. I mean look at their number of subscribers, children testing toys or people having cute dogs have more. And the main star of this channel can actually focus on the thing he knows best rather than chasing after drama llamas. When a celebrity (even an Internet celebrity) is complaining about how difficult their life is it's good to compare them to an average Joe to put things into perspective. Personally, I've stopped feeling sorry for people who watch films, play games and fly to places I will never see to make a living.
@@mikshinee87 Well said. I too, share this sentiment.
@@mikshinee87 completely agree. I'd anything I look at the "change the Channel" as the huffing and puffing of overly pretentious internet personalities who rode Doug's coattails for a decade and lashes out because they never got as popular as he did. "YOU'RE GIVING UP JASMINE TEA FOR THIS!!! JASMINE *TEEEEEEAAA!!!!*
Let's appreciate one part of Zuko's redemption arc: the fact that Zuko mostly did it on his own. If Zuko had changed at the season 2 finale, we would have missed him confronting his father.
I've been fangirling about Dante Vasco constantly saying "honor" during the whole video... And it was worth it
"This episode is like a Clint Eastwood movie..." It's Shane. The episode is the movie Shane.
Also a Fistful of Dollars (Yojimbo) at least in presentation, but yeah it fits Shane just as much storywise.
I want a series about a young iroh growing and maturing into the wise, kind man we see in the show. Would love to see that transformation.
Ok that would be amazing, but only if written by the original creators
Considering how the handled korra, best to leave that alone
I mean they are doing spin-off books, maybe do it there
The problem with following up such a near perfect series like ATLAB is people have too many expectations. Korra tried to side step that by being different, having a more mature tone to grow with its fan base, and showing different parts of that world that TLAB. People need to stop comparing the two and look at each as its own entity. I think people directly compare the two too much and most people’s biggest reservation is the characters making up team avatar in Korra don’t hold up as well when comparing them to the team in the TLAB. Korra has more characters that have their own story arcs, so it doesn’t get as in depth with each character. I think that’s done because the series is told more through the eyes of Korra rather than 3-4 characters which when I think about it seems to standup with the characters being older. I don’t know about you but as most people get older it’s harder to stay as close and involved in your closest friends’ lives and you also broaden your circle of friends/aquatintences that you probably aren’t as close with as you were with your friends when you were younger. Basically I think the lest in depth and shorter story arcs with many of the characters in Korra is actually realistic and fits well with the older and more mature cast.
No the problem with korra is three major issues, 1st the villains, while Oozai May have Been the overarching villain, zuko and zhou served as great adversaries, one more sympathetic and the other much more ruthless, the inclusion of Azula in the second season as both extremely competent clever and ruthless making her a fan favorite , and then the third season made sure the oozai felt powerful and threatening throughout all over his screentime, in korra we have Amon, a full of shit liar who has no evidence from the world that his “position” has merit, ultimately he is just throwing a temper tantrum cause he hates his dad, season 2 starts strong with civil war that could have forced korra to really question how the world should proceed in a very princess mononoke style season, but drops it about halfway through by throwing in a bunch of nonsense and giving us avatar Godzilla battle, season 3 has korra go up against anarchist, you know that philosophy that always leads to fascist regimes seizing power, and season 4 is the fascist regime so we are right back to oozai but less developed. The next major flaw is in the characters, korra is an arrogan brat, but never gets called out or punished for the bad decisions she makes or the actions that hurt people, this bitch goes a date with a guy has a nice evening and then forces herself on his older brother, and no one ever calls her a massive cunt for doing this, bolin is a boring simp, who is just their to be comic relief with very little redeeming qualities, mako is bland and uninteresting and can’t make a decision to save his life, tenzin is neat but he is often forced to be dumb cause the plot demands it like how mr spiritual has never been to the spirit world, asami is fanservice first for the guys and later for the sjws. Finally the world building, while many sequels are bad, most don’t undermine their source that much, not somwith korra, this show rewrites the rules for bending it changes the spirit world from a creepy and eerie place and instead it’s a Ghibli movie, and the avatar wan story is basically Prometheus mixed with Christianity as opposed to the original eastern philosophical origins of the show
"You know I loved you in Slumdog Millionaire!" Wait. No. That wasn't you! I always confuse you with- ooh" Was that a reference to Dev Patel who played Zuko in The Last Airbender movie and a character in Slumdog Millionaire?
RGS TheBadGamer yes
*RGS TheBadGamer* Omg! I never bothered to look up what he meant, that’s f’ing hilarious! Thank you for this!
It was also a reference to the apparent fact that Basco requested the part of Zuko in the non-existent movie adaptation and was turned down for the part in lieu of Dev Patel
+Selo Bee Yeah. I recently heard that and boy am I glad he didn't get the part! Dante Basco deserves SO MUCH better than to star in that non-existent movie!
RGS TheBadGamer would be better if the original actors played the roles. With a little make up, they could look real. And better directing even better. They know the characters in and out after all.
"HONOR!" That had me cracking up.
Dante is such a cool dude. I actually met him at a Comic Con once and when I said "honor" at him, he said "honor" at me back. I also told him I loved him as Rufio in Hook.
leaves from the vine falling so slow like a fragile, tiny shells drifting in the foam little soldier boy come marching home brave soldier boy .comes marching home
SsaasSX3 shut up.
Silence! You are making my eyes sweat!
Ooowwwwwwwwww that's painful. Emotionally painful.
Season 2 Episode 15 Tales of Ba Sing Se...one of my favorite episodes.
Namajaff Iroh singing for his son provokes levels of emotion matched only by the opening to Up and the closing song from the Seymour episode of Futurama.
I love how Tamra dressed up as Captain Hook because Dante Bosco played in the movie Hook.
Mini-gamer186 and Rose from American Dragon
Rufioooooooo
I loved Dante's reaction to the Rose costume
It must be an honor to be credited in a Steven Spielberg film.
The Guru also does a great job of explaining chakras to it's audience and how it could help all lives, not just ones solely based on the faith. Things everyone can relate to and use to try and better themselves.
The ending definitely did have a moral!: that you can shape your own destiny. We saw it with Zuko in his redemption arc and with Aang not taking Ozai's life because it goes against what he believes in. ahh I love this show so much
10:12 Imagine what it was like watching that the day it came out. You were actually expecting the invation to succeed because it had been building up from the very first episode. Even on the first season they kept stressing the importance of defeating the firelord before Sozin's comet or otherwise he would become unstoppable. So imagine what it was like watching what you initially tought would be the last episode in the series and seeing your heroes fail, and learning that they would now have to fight Ozai in the day of the comet where everything would be 10 times harder for them. My 11 yeard old self, who had religiously been watching each episode the day it came out for two years, did that. And it was absolutely amazing.
Especialy considering the show went on a hiatus after this episode. Even if you were browsing the tv guide, you'd have no way to know there would be more episodes to follow. Unless it was revelaed somewhere online, but idk if that actually happened.
wariolandgoldpiramid I dont think it was hiatus so much as pausing to make new episodes. Gravity Falls did the same thing in the middle of season two. It's a "mid season finale"
Kind of like Once Upon A Time? Seasons 3-6 were pretty much all divided into two halves with different arcs.
I don't have to imagine it😔.
I still remember seeing the teaser trailer for book 3. Seeing aang with hair & katara saying "I will never EVER turn my back on people who need me!!!" I was in 7th grade, I remember like it was yesterday
I wish they did an animated film or a mini series about zuko's mother
Muffin Man agreed
Well, Hey Arnold! got a TV Movie, Rocko's Modern Life is getting one, and Invader ZIM is getting one too. So hey, it'd be neat to see.
If you're willing to read comics they have one out about her
I know the comics but for me avatar is not a comic based series but a cartoon based one. I want to see that shit animated!
It would be a good idea. They could animate all the comics as two-parter episodes and maybe space them out with short stories from The Lost Tales to kill time.
2 things 1. That Joss Whedon comment aged really well 2. Ads came on when he said "You're going to hit the go to commercial button!"
Dante Bosco yelling HONOR while pelvic thrusting fireballs made me laugh soooo hard 😂😂😂
MY CABBITCHES!!!
Liam te Riele oh!!! I get the reference. Didn't catch that in the video.. makes more sense now.
i loled so hard and repeated that part 3 times lol
that went pass me the first time but i get it now 😂😂😂😂
I admit to missing what they were talking about with the cabbitches joke over and over again (first time I watched the NC's 11 best and worst was sometime last year), since I've been marathoning the three seasons over and over the past week, it finally "clicked" what it was about. I laughed, then felt retarded for taking so long, and then put it in my mental box next to the "clicked" Sparky-sparky-Boom-man reference from Fan Four stick.
Best pun
a lot of series one likes as a child, one only likes because one is a child, and when, as an adult, you watch them again, it's just a cringe-fest, and at at that moment one understands that one only liked the series because one didn't care about the cringe and the nonsense, ATLA is not one of those series, the creators managed to create a magnificent, consistent and simply outstanding work that will never grow old, and that encompasses the full meaning of the expression "family-friendly", a lot of shows think that being family-friendly is just being something a child can watch, but this series nails it, because it's not only something a kid can watch, but it's also something a teenager and an adult can enjoy just as much, the series is well written, well animated and it's just strong in all fronts, I would say that calling the series a masterpiece of animation is and understatement.
I loved this show as a kid as Well and i still love it now
i remember waiting for Season 3 to come out when i was a kid cause of how horrible the cliffhanger at the end of season 2 was. now i rewatch the show at least once every year and i cant believe how well it holds up.
Incendere I wholeheartedly agree with your comment. I didn't watch it until my second year of college (2010?) and I loved the hell out of it. Also, I find your user name highly entertaining.
Incendere Periods, use them.
Wish the same thing could have been said for Korra's spin-off.
Why is seeing a live action remake of Zuko with Dante's ACTUAL VOICE SO FRICKING SATISFYING
I know right?
