This jigsaw fence will help to make precise and accurate cuts with the jigsaw. I have long been trying to find how to cut wood with the jigsaw to make accurate jigsaw cuts easily, and this fence works great. Sure I have to improve this guide and some woodworking tricks yet, but pay attention to my next woodworking videos and let's see if I can take this woodworking jig to the next level. I think this techniques can be interesting when we can to work with limited tools and also for beginners.

  • Thank you very much for your demonstration. This answered the question I was asking myself about how accurate a straight edge could be cut both straight and square with a jigsaw.

  • Great fence. Thanks for sharing the video. It can be of great help in many cases. The long screws into the work bench are not the best solution. Sooner or later (I think quite early) the holes wear out and the screw will not have grip anymore in the workbench surface. I think it's better to glue some T-nuts into the work bench and use metric screws/bolts.

    @hansdegroot8549@hansdegroot85494 жыл бұрын
    • Thank you very much, Hans 👍. I think the screws will keep tight for long time, but I don't mind if I have to drill new holes in this workbench. But, this is just some kind of prototype 😅. I plan on making a portable jigsaw fence so I can install it anywhere with clamps 😃

      @WoodworkingwithDIYtools@WoodworkingwithDIYtools4 жыл бұрын
    • Yes...i was wondering how long the long screw would have a tight thread to work into. Would it be a solution to have a suitable nut fixed on the underside..in a recess perhaps?

  • I like your idea very much but there is definitely a way to greatly increase the accuracy of straightness and squareness (is that a word?). Ditch the thin fine cut blade and buy some Precision blades. Many makers offer them specifically for straight cutting. They have the prefix DP on the blade model number. They are thicker and much stronger and resistant to bending than thin blades. Bosch sell them and also Diablo. They change everything and make perfectly straight square cuts much easier to achieve. There are some very good YT vids about these blades if you would like to know more.

    • I had been studying and testing she find that Bosch precision blades do a great job of clean perpendicular cuts. No guide arm needed.

    • I also have trouble when I cut curves, even if I use narrow blades. In my video "Testing some narrow jigsaw blades to cut tight curves" I talk about it. I also made a circle cutting jig for my jigsaw table, and it works quite well 😃

  • There is nothing straight and accurate cut by a jigsaw. They are useful for cutting curves, but will never provide what one might call a finish cut, or a cut suitable for joinery. If you're very careful, have a new quality blade, and have accurately adjusted your saw, you might get a cut that doesn't require a great deal of sanding.

    @steveholman5978@steveholman59783 жыл бұрын
