  • The second cable is likely not broken. Some cables are just for power only while the better ones do power and data. Also they're getting more complicated with complex circuitry in the ends of the plugs, themselves.

  • at 6:31 the usb isnt bad just some cables are meant for charging and others are meant for transferring data because the ones that are meant for charging do not have data wires so the tester is unreliable

  • this is different cables and it work. If you look at the pinout of the USB port, the signal pins are exactly in the middle. If the cable were broken, the integrity of the electrical circuit would be violated and as a result, your LEDs would not light up.

    • Number one does not work properly the negative data is for sending data to the host (for example a computer) and ground (GND) wire is for power going back to the host. You can even use an microcontroller to make an graph of what data is send. @@InnovationPlusOne

  • The second one will trigger one basic charging mode, but not by far test all possible current modes. You get really useful charge/voltage/current tester+logger with small display for a few bucks. The first one is utter bullshit.

    • @@InnovationPlusOne you made a simple mistake - resistor should soldering to anode (+) and 1 resistor per one LED. Ground (-) can be common for all LED.

    • @@Arthur60 In e.g. EU there are two-pole connectors. But these EU-2-pole-connectzors do *not* allow to plug an earthed (3-pole) plug in. In other words: When there is an earthed plug this will only fit into an earthed connector. But in the video there is an unearthed connector, where an earthed plug might be used, which will result in a lifethreatening unearthed device, which requires earthing.

    • ​@@galdavonalgerri2101 You may be true in some countries, I remember seeing some, but not in France. Here, earth contact is female on the plug, live and neutral are male. So there is no mechanical way of preventing pluging in an earthed plug (3 poles) into a 2 holes socket.
