Poor guy. At least they rescued him and had the vet come out. They other Bison accepted him. These guys are very kind
After watching several of your videos, I just love how respectful you are with your animals. They have feelings too and know you will keep them safe.
O kk
Poor baby! God bless you for helping him!
🇨🇦 It's by no surprise that this yearling found its way to your ranch. I love how you are with your animals. The love you have for them is so evident in the amazing way you care for them! ❤️ I so hope that he's able to carry on with his life pain free with his kind of injury. I'm sooo grateful that he found his way to your ranch! We all know he's going to be in the BEST of hands with you! Great to see your lil princess! She's just the sweetest. Can you plz keep us updated on how the yearling is making out? Thanks as always for taking time to do these videos! I always learn so much from them. God bless all. ❤️🙏👍
Not sure he will as he will be ultimately slaughtered.
@@RR_85 Yep eat him when he fattens up .
I am for anybody or anything that rescues animals. Humans have made such a mess of this planet with self-centered, unscrupulous greed and irresponsible decision making that I am truly grateful to the rescuers. These are the real human beings in this equation. Kudos to each and every one of you. You're a true and real blessing.
Wow Dusty!, Bison meat herd , Bison preservation herd and now Bison rescue! Keep the journey going!

Poor wittle guy! Thank you so much for taking him in and rescuing him! I hope he is able to heal and live a full life. So cute!
Thank you for giving him a chance - I hope he finds his way in the herd.
Thanks for rescuing that beautiful bison. He now have a beautiful home.
I've had 3 hernia's very painful. He was dumped because of medical cost. He's in the right place now. Thank you for doing the right thing. The cows are protecting him he's young.
I've had one , and you're right it's painful. Especially when it keeps popping out and you have to keep pushing it back in

yes this is what I think too. They dumped him because of the medical cost.

Hi Rusty & family. The yearling has no idea how lucky he is to be with you all. I totally agree with Virginia.
I had a Jersy cow go down when we needed to dart her and she fell on the needle and it broke off. It turned into a way larger save then we expected. Thank God the vet didn't charge us exra for the needle removel. We got her back to our farm and she turned out to be the best cow/mom we ever had. Her name was MOO BOSSY. It's been approx. 40 years since she died of old age and I still miss her.
Around my home town there was a moose that kept coming into town and the Washington department of fish and wildlife came out and darted it but whoever the person was who did it put too much of the drug in the dart and it killed the moose and the sad thing was it was a young bull that still had a long life ahead and it was completely healthy

thanks for taking him under your wings Dustin, god bless
This young fellow has no idea what wonderful people he is now with. He will be so well taken care of and all his needs seen to by Doc.
good job pulling that nuke out of her mouth so she could talk plainer. Love to hear kids learning to talk but with a nuke you only hear a mumble. Your herd is growing !
Taken care of before he’s murdered for people to eat.
Shelley a bison burger sounds good right now. You need to try one.
@@shelleybleu4903 Your'e right . They could of just butchered it right there and save the time and trouble......UH?
All his needs except for the giant hernia that needs repair. Not that wonderful.
That was wonderful how you helped out that injured bison in need and I sure hope he makes it and has a peaceful life.
Until they slaughter him for jerky? Yeah. What a 'rescue'.
It is so awesome to see parents get their young toddlers used to seeing large farm animals. Good job parents!!
I love how nosy cows are and how they talk and their eyes. They are just so darn cute, I can't take it! And lots of babies ! What fun !
Love the monkey 🐒
@@kristiesmith9928 me too, thank you!

Yes they are. They are not dumb in the way that man portrays them. It’s a tool used as an excuse for how they are treated in the meat processing.
Some one's abandoned him because they didn't want to spend money on the vet it's disgusting how sad indeed !!
I'm glad he's with you...he's at a perfect place...how awesome of you
Brooks was concerned for her hairdo, on that wind; cute! She was telling you about the bison in with the cows!
wasnt that darling how she kept checking her head to see if her hair was still in place.
I thought she might be trying to yank it out?
Cows: you see that new guy? Bison: bruh, you guys wanna hang out? Cows: here comes the farmer just blend in Bison: 🐄 🐄 🦬 🐄 🐄

Somewhere in the forrest of Bialowieska Poland there is a cow doing the same thing. Look her up.

They are related to those bovine, but how the Bison got to look like that only God knows why!
😂😂😂😂
Dusty I'm so glad your friend contacted you and you were able to sedate him, have the Doctor look at him and bring him back to the farm. I'm praying that he has a much better life and now that he's around other bison you'll feel at home Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe May God continue to bless you and your family.
This is where he belongs, living, eating, and being with his bison herd.So happy you found him when u did..Keep ranching Dusty
What about surgery to put guts back into abdominal area.
Cows are usually very docile by nature. I'm not surprise ther are; in a way; trying to "protect" this young bull. He became part of the group. He is gorgeous. I wish i could be closer to that young bull even if i know it's risky. How can you not love those animals?💕
You know nothing about large animals do you? cattle or bison.
@@greenthumb6875 lived and was raised on a farm. And studied in agricultar. And you??? So if you are so intelligent, why dont you educate the rest of us who seems to be complete idiots??? Cows are not to be feared. Where i'm from, there are plenty of dairy farms and most people here have holstein cows. Wich are white and black patches and brown paches and once in a while, you get a cow with red/orange patches. What about you my friend??? Can you try to be a bit more polite and respectfull with people?? Maybee you would get more respectfull comments. Just saying and just because you may be american and i'm canadian, please don't be a jerk. Have heard the phrase that you attract flies with honey and not with vinegar?? Good day/ evening to you my friend. (maybee get a little sumethin' sumethin' with girl/boyfriend might get you a bit more mellow)😅💕
That is not a cow. Bison will F***k your world up, while a cow just stands there chewing its grass. I worked on a large bison ranch in the dakotas off and on years ago. Once the bison learned the fence was not going to stop them (6 to 8 strans of wire), they would just walk right through them. They would bring out a sharp shooter periodically to put down the ones that learned to run the fences, because there was no good way to stop them after that. probably what happened to this guy. He just decided to leave home.
@@cenccenc946 good for you mate. We have buffalo too in canada in case you are wondering and can you not talk like you guys know it all and that the rest of the world are complet ingorant??? I know the difference between cows and buffalo.
In my experience bison have always been mean to cows. This guy was so small tho he fit in perfectly 🤣
I ❤️ how cows are so curious/ nosy. Poor guy. Thank you for taking him, Dusty.
Thanks everyone for helping this young bison. Please keep an update on his well-being.🏴👍

I'm glad you all knew what you were doing, and Mr. Bison was in very capable, qualified hands. Hope he is still doing well. This is dated May 26, 2021. This story just popped up on my newsfeed and I am glad a watched it. I learned a few things.
The opening clip dropped my heart. But I’m glad I kept watching. It looks like all the cows were protecting him. Then, they pointed him out by looking in his direction.
His injury was probably the reason he was just dumped there. It's a shame if that is what happened but then he wouldn't be with you wonderful caring people. He got the best outcome ever 💗
Just an FYI: Evidently this is not rescue for the sake of giving sanctuary, rather for eventual slaughter. Once he’s large enough to be profitable, he’ll be butchered. I didn’t realize until after I watched, figured it might be informative, sadly.
@@Carmelle747 Aww.. that’s horrible!
Why would he let good meat go to waste? That's what these people do raise bison for their meat.
Whoever the original owner was they went to great effort to transport to another farm rather than put him down. I grew up on a farm where sick animals had to be put down as the expense of treatment outweighed the profit. Farm animals are not pets. The animals were well taken care of because if not, market doesn’t want them. In the 70s a lot of hogs were turned loose in the wooded areas around community because price of pork dropped so low there was negative profit. Now we’re overrun with wild hogs that will tear up a field overnight or destroy a pecan grove. Before you ask no, they don’t make good pork chops. Too feral, but to keep the numbers down lots of hunters shoot them. I’ll stick with cattle.
Very nice! I hope the bison does well in his new home. It appears to be a satisfying way of life out there on the ranch. Many blessings to you and your family.
Hello Donna
Dusty, I just came across your channel today and I am hooked already. This was such a wonderful thing y'all did for the young orphan. Would love to know his story. I am compelled to commend you for your humanity, and how the young ones get to see it as they grow up. I'm a dinosaur, 73, life is sacred to me. You were brought up by good people, values I respect. I wish I was a neighbor to help out and be there in such a positive environment. I have loved bison since I saw my first one. I have a little Cheyenne in me so I know what these magnificent critters meant, how the whole culture of the plains American Indians revolved around these wonderful animals. I believe the "Old Ones" watched you rescue this icon of life on the plains for many centuries, and then, in a blink we almost killed them off. Governments do take their agendas quite seriously. I'm going to catch up with all your previous posts and look forward to every bit of it. Tip of the hat to all involved! Phil
I really enjoyed your comment!! Blessings 🌿
@@59Alaskan Thank you, Allah. You made my day! Very kind of you to take the time to do that. Infinite blessings, Phil
Thanks for rescuing him. Praying that he will be ok.
❤️ good for you! Those cows seemed protective of him ❤️
Thank you so much for taking care of that Bison! It,s refreshing to see people actually taking care of Bison instead of killing them! 😊😇🥰💖
I am so happy that you were able to rescue him! It was pretty cool that the cattle were protecting him. Subbing!
You did another good thing to protect the American Bison.
He is a meat distributor for bison, he doesn’t do it for the love of bison 🤷🏻♂️ there is nothing wrong with it but he ain’t really doing it for goodness of his heart, more so the betterment of his wallet 💵
Protect them? He raises them for sale to market for butchering. It’s his business, nothing wrong with it since there are many who like bison, personally I love a good bison burger. It’s like a sheep, goat & cattle ranch. Meat farmers:
@@maureenahad7614 hmmm? How long have you been watching his channel?

Why wouldn't you have that operated on so he would be ok?
@@carolduffy250 At 7:23 they said that they could go in, put the intestines back into the abdominal cavity and stitch the tear up, but it would be hard to get the repair to hold. Then he could be at even greater risk because of the open wound, possibly.

Yeah. Whatever can take a bite out of a bison must be a scary creature. Bison are seriously scary😥

Your daughter is adorable, and looks like she won't be afraid of large animals, that's great!
Thank you to you and your family for taking the time to give the love to a homeless bison. Than you all very much.
And, here I am, having my Sunday morning coffee before going to church, wearing my "Pioneer of the Plains" t-shirt. Having had an inguinal hernia many years ago, I can relate to the feller's condition. What you want to be careful of, is, IF an intestine section gets to moving around too much and it twists (shut), a strangulated hernia can quickly become deadly.
animals communicate on where the best places are so when he heard about Cross Timber Bison. ... it is true a friend now has a ménagerie ... animals somehow find their way! Good Job on the rescue!
A hernia that big will be a constantly dragging type of pain for him and there is a chance that it could twist on itself (strangulate) but I'm sure the vet will have briefed them on this. Wonderful that he's now got a caring owner.
Bless you all, with your kind n tender care of the injured animal. Really touching. Blessings to you all.🙏🏻🙏🏻😊🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Well, he got rescued to the right place! He appeared to blend right in to your yearling herd. Look forward to updates!
Please stay safe. When I lived in Creek County, a ranch hand was gored to death by a bison that he took care of for several years. Not sure if the bison accidentally or intentionally gored the man. Just always keep an eye out 👍🏼
How sad.
He probably underestimated the animal and forgot it was still massive and wild herbivores ask then tell then show the bison would have asked him to stop or do somethin then told him then showed him like he would another bison just as horses do and deer and so on
Yeah, it happens way to often 😔
Heard a similar story just this weekend. A farmer had a bull that he never had problems with. But one day it snapped and trampled the man to death. Big animals can always turn dangerous really fast.

Love watching your Cross Timbers Bison show the past few years. I come from South Dakota and when I was young, a friend of my dad's, had a big ranch with Bison out in South Dakota. I even remember his name was Don Height in the 'White River section. We used to go out and just marvel the bison.
Be interested to see where his genetics come from if y'all test him. Hernia shouldn't be a big big deal unless the intestines get a kink or something causing an internal infection
I’m starting to think Dusty was bovine in a previous life... the cows and bison seem to fell safe interacting with him... Look forward to the videos... woke up this am and went straight for my guilty pleasure...Cross Timbers Bison...
