Hey subscribed to all. Thank You for the videos. Since watching your channel and watching Kim's flight training its really furthered my understanding of aviation. I listen and watch FlightAware and adsbexchange of my local KPIA daily and understand. (my neighbors think the audio feed was nuts) LOL (apartment building) I live next to two hospitals with in 100 yards of heliport and get to watch alot. Also with ANG and regional carriers at KPIA get to see a lot, and worked 4 years literally ten feet from KPIA Runway fence so I got to see thousands of landings and takeoffs and a 50,000 vertical from an F35? Follow their daily commutes to Florida , Chicago and Houston and lifeflights. Watching the this video I completely understood the two planes in the pattern? Touch n Goes? And first time Ever!!!! spotted both planes. thanks for including the footage Liked Kim's new Oxygen. That's cool what's the brand? Also my stomach got queasy watching the landing speed too. So used to your landings. But that was cool for both KIm as a new pilot and for viewers that you explained you picked up a tail wind. This channel is teaching me alot. Thank you Love you guys stay safe!
Great to see both of you flying again. We can cancel the missing person on Kim.
@edpippin Good one!
So happy to see my son’s ranch west of SGJ
Having Savvy aviation on your team to recommend places and review shops work recommendations is always worth the cost of subscription.
We flew our club Cirrus 686 miles to CQF for our engine overhaul. We had a great experience. Our reasoning was the same as yours.
Yay! Another video. Good to see you both.
Really liked the split screen landing perspective! Thanks for the editing effort ❤️🛩️
Missed you two, great video and Happy New Year to you and Chat.
Happy New Year Kris and Kim!!!
Happy new year to you and Kim, nice to see the new aircon working
Happy New Year Kris and Kim. Yours and Mike Patey are the only aviation channels I still follow. Your content is always on point and entertaining without the bs so many upload. Thanks for all you do and thanks for sharing.
Happy New Year guys, good channel
Finally your back! It's great to see you both. And oh yeah, the aviation stuff's pretty cool too! 😁
Keep up the great work !!!!
Enjoyed the fly along with you and Kim.
Happy New Year to you BOTH! So nice to see Kim back on the channel! Happy flying from Canada! 10 feet!!! You’re already under water!
Wonderful job Explaining trust in the Shops!!! 🙂
My fave couple on KZhead. Glad to see you guys...Its been a while. Happy New Year!
Haven't had the opportunity to watch you folks for the last couple of months. Wishing you both a Blessed 2023!✈
Great flight, great to see Kim back beside you again, and great to see that ring on her left finger! Thanks for all you both do to keep these videos rolling out.
Great to see you back in the Beech Baron and great to see Kim back in there.
How cool! Just discovered your channel and the first video of you I see is you doing a flight to my area! I've made several landings at CQF... and I'll likely make many more! (I'm based at 82J) Cheers!
Great Video. Hope you two had a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
Thanks! You too!
Hey, I remember you guys. So nice to see you again....
I empowered watching your videos all the time
Excellent question on setting the altimeter. I knew that you were going to ask that. 😁
I used to fly my Baron 150 miles for annual. The guy had bunches of Baron experience and was a old timer that I had a lot of trust in. My buddy that also had a Baron would pick me up and when his was ready we would do the same. Always felt comfortable with this guy
@FlyingSIC now that you are a pilot, your comms are just EXCELLENT! I can't wait to see you left seat in 75W!!!!!! @Baron Pilot, another awesome down to earth flying video! I was starting to have withdrawl symptoms! It would be soo excellent to see you at the end of the month at Dan's taping in Ft. Worth. As always, I love your channel and the synergy with Kim! 🐺🛩👍
I could not agree more on your assessment of how to pick a shop. I took my Mooney from OR to MN because the shop in Willmar on worked on a Mooney, had been for 30 years. In the PA-46 world (Mirage, JetProp and Meridian) there are
Great flight and love your analogy regarding flying 350nm for the yearly maintenance. By the way, I spent the holidays in Daphne, AL and was at H. L. Sonny Callahan Airport (KCQF) in Fairhope, AL. Keep those videos coming.
Love flyin' with you guys. Thanks. Chris, if you ever need a side-gig, try Auctioneer! :))))
Thanks for the info on the compression test,
Nick and his staff do an outstanding job there! There are many people from our area ,KOPL, that has taken there planes to him , really a great guy!
Always enjoy your videos. I agree go to the people that are not con artist and do the right thing for the plane owner.
Nice to see the two of you back up in the Barron. You guys and 310 Pilot were my channels. I really miss Kevin and Jamie, hope all is well with them. Look forward to Kim perhaps flying the Barron as she gains her hours. Till the next adventure, Cheers !
I thought Kim had a paramotor shirt on! NOPE - jellyfish ... 🤣 I've had lots of customers come to me with horror stories from other shops in the auto repair and small engine biz. There are varying abilities in every field, along with varying ethics and morals. Pays to shop around! I've been doing that 14 years, but now in '23 I believe it's time for a change. Just put an application in for a maintenance position at a company in the city. Back to the real world of commutes and traffic! Will be nice to have retirement, though - I don't seem to be getting any younger here! Anyway, great stuff as always Kris & Kim. Hope you both, and your families have a Happy, Healthy, Blessed, and Prosperous New Year. 🍻
Happy 2023 guys you just cheered me up after a long day at work. Greg 🇬🇧
Sweet!! Glad we cheered you up! Happy New Year!
Chris great video, but I love your Avidyne panel ❤️✈️
Muy buena la visión del aterrizaje, con doble cámara....BUENÍSIMO
Same problem with my AMO . He also wanted to change all cylinders on my Turbo Arrow 4 . Took it to two other AMO'S . Compression and blowbyes perfect . Rgds Stefan
Love the example of good quality pilot communication with other pilot on your intentions. AQP aka Dan Gryder at work here.
Great to find a trustworthy shop it’s the same with automobiles and those are even harder to find. BTW I discovered today that I have a nail in my tire just googled the nearest shop and got a nice reception and a complementary fix that’s good service. Safe travels.
👍✅ Another great trip with Kim, we love it! Was looking back through the videos and seems like she has only washed the plane one time and shockingly almost 600k people watched that! Just saying ......
Thank you for sharing
hopefully you guys got a chance to spend some time in Fairhope...... such a delightful community......
Loved the video again. Where is Kim's fright training gone. I did enjoy watching her skill development
Very interesting in the cop pit how you control the plane and controls and know what you're doing. I'm learning something never learned before about flying airplane if you like to fly
Can't believe you tested her with a question on the video. I guess it came to me so quickly because I learned at a small, uncontrolled field. I always set the altimeter to the airfield elevation.
New subscriber here and new pilot. I am just a sport pilot until hopefully the medical changes at the end of the year. Even though I’m in Fort Myers, it’s nice watching your videos. I feel like you’re flying in my backyard. Keep the videos coming..
Welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing. You’re not “Just” a sport pilot. You are a pilot that flys sport plans. Don’t sell yourself short.
@BARONPILOT - I'm based at KDTS - here's a hint when you want to fly through Tyndall and Eglin airspace, always file HEVVN if coming from SoFLA or then "The Gates" as the air force ATC refers to them -> PHIPS and VARRE. They will almost always let you through if you follow that flight plan. Alternately if coming from StAug file DEFUN CEW PENSI which is the Corridor they like you to fly if you stay north.
Absolutely Correct on work that is not Necessary on an annual. I/we always did Owner Assisted Annuals. A Friend with a 1953 C-170 New his plane Inside & out. Latterly took us less than 2 hours to Unbutton the plane Seats out and Cowl off & every Inspection panel open. The AI would show up Inspect, Air Frame then Engine. That way we could be Buttoning up while he's doing the Compression and Engine Inspection.
All great criteria for select a mechanic/shop. I would add getting the job done in a timely manner. Nothing worse than continued delays with some scheduling or simple issue that didn't really seem like it should have happened. It does take awhile to get comfortable with a shop that you can trust to do the work you need and done right for a fair price.
Funny, I realize I forgot to mention that. I actually left a good shop for that exact reason. He met all my criteria but could not get the Plane done in a timely manner. 😢
Big fan, always look forward to your vids. By the way, did Kim ever get het PPL? Sure miss those shows, a great memories of my training back in the 1960's.
Then you’ll like next week’s video 😉
Heck, I fly my C441 from my Long Beach, CA base to Kissimmee, FL fir its inspections. But I do pair it with recurrence training at Simcom, so there's that.
I think it’s a good idea to take one’s plane to the best possible place for an annual. You’ve got to be able to trust the guys working on your plane. Last year (or was it 2 years ago, now?), when Kevin took 1BC to Defiance, OH, because that’s where TAS Aviation is, turned out to be one of the smartest decisions ever.
Happ New Year guys!
Hope you were able to enjoy the great restaurants in Fairhope. Go there as often I am able.
Great to see you both again it’s started my new year off and seeing some fantastic videos well worth watching all the time
For the first time in 6 years we are taking our Comanche to a shop for its annual. Reason being we are due for the 1000 hour gear AD and we want to get the Aussie Stab horn installed so as to do away with the AD that goes along with the stab horn we currently have installed. Gonna fly approximately 420nm to Heritage Aero as they specialize in Comanche maintenance and have a very good reputation. In addition I'd just like to get some different eyes on our bird to make sure I'm not missing something. I can tell you as an A&P that the most important thing for any mechanic is to know what you don't know. I realize this may not make sense for a lot of folks but it is oh so important.
Happy New Year!!! Is that an engagement ring on Kim's ring?!?!?!
Happy New Year. Hopefully the holidays were a good one for you all. I have been watching the channel for almost 2 years and I am curious. About how many hours a year do you fly the Baron?
Thanks for watching! At a minimum I’ll fly the Baron 100 hours in a year.
Glad to see Kim again. We were about to ask for proof of life....😂🤣
I use to work at company that provided maintenance and flight training for a major Japanese airline in Napa,Ca. and they operated A36 58 Barons so we had extensive experience on both, so after they closed I went to work at another FBO on the field, one day a New G58 took off and swallowed a valve off point Reyes, after checking it out we gave word to the owner who approved the work so we worked out all of the warranty with Beechcraft and Continental and after a little intervening of the owner it from a cylinder replacement to a six new cylinders, in the meantime the owner asked to do an annual during which we found so much that the his shop had done wrong like servicing the props with Mobil 28 and not aeroshell grease (the prop shop said both props needed overhauling), they replaced both emergency exit seal and glued Both sides of the seal where the you could Not open them! Everything we found I'd take pictures and email them followed by a call, long story short (and I mean a long story indeed) their bill ended up a over $33,500, but i kept them informed on everything! So they're out of Socal but they'd bring their Baron from the to Napa,Ca and airline home, I told them when they fly I want them thinking about their flying and their business and Not the airplane!! They were the best!
Love the "I don't know what to say when you..." at the end (reading lips) :p
Referred from a friend. Pretty cool content. I subscribed. Do you sell Merch?
Welcome to the channel and thanks for subscribing! BaronPilotShop.com
Thanks for the video!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Fairhope - know it very well! You should try and go to the hotel there for “brunch” .
I meant The Grand hotel
On no altimeter at the airport... I learned to fly at such a place. No issues: we absolutely know the altitude on one end of the runway. All that I had to do: set the altimeter at that altitude... done deal. Then if I went somewhere else, set the altimeter for that airport.
After disaster annuals by crappy shops and mechanics, I’d fly or in my case truck our birds (🚁) to a good shop/mechanic if needed. Expense is one thing, but the souls in our aircraft are priceless. I’m not dumping on a shop or mechanic in general, but like you said, they may not be an expert in your model/brand.⚔️❤️🇺🇸
I understand completely. I fly my 310 447 nm for its annual. Factoring in the expenses to get to and from the small airport, it's still worth it (I think!) What do you have to do to get to/from KCQF? Air carrier in and out of KMOB?
Long time no see Kim!
Hi how do you go about buying a plane. What's needed cause I would like to buy one for the family and fly all over . It's sipho frm south Africa
Dang man, you flew right over my house North of ECP
Christopher is correct of course. That’s why I use a physician who graduated from medical school within 5 years ago. I choose doctors based on technology enhancements. While older docs are respected, younger docs may know the current practices in their field.
Maintenance is a problem for my light sport with a Rotax engine. Not everyone can work on them. Last year I crashed after picking my airplane up from annual. Two oil lines came off in flight and the engine seized. N121YT.
Hi..have you posted picking up your Baron in Ohio after your A/C upgrade yet..?....I love all of your videos....both have a great new year....fly safe out there....
Is there a pill you can feed 75W to turn it into an Aerostar??? LOL Long time since seeing 75W in the air!!!
20+years ago a friend replaced his engine and prop. The new prop was a 4-blade with curled tips. The next year annual-inspector grounded the plane because of the prop. Obviously he didn't do his homework. So, I agree that you need someone you trust and is experienced with your aircraft.
PIC 2!
Hey Chris, do you ever come up to ESPN country?
Don’t really ever get up to Bristol. Long Island is probably as close as I get. But not in the Baron.
Well, if you ever do, 4B8 is very close. Great wings joint close by and they'd be on me ! Safe travels.
I have a guy who knows the plane and the type. Plus he lets me assist, which helps with the bills.
I love assisting not only to help with the bill, but to learn more about everything!
@@flyingsic yep, and there is that too!
Field elevation is an approximate barometric pressure setting.
Flaps up on the runway roll out?
What model plane is that?
Sweet landing
can I make a suggestion? while getting the annual, maybe replace those nasty beat up plastic knobs on the throttle and prop controls? I'm sure they make some cool custom knobs,,, maybe greatful dead knobs.... lol
I will keep an eye on my mailbox for the replacements! 😜😉🍻
Nice comeback!!!
Great LHS rock Kimmy, we await developments. 🙂
Why are all of the landings nearly 3-point (per the videos)?
So Kris doesn't like roller coasters eh? And I spent 20 years building wooden coasters all over the world. Maybe you just rode the wrong coasters Kris!!! ✌😜
Hey BP. Is Kim still going on with her PPl? Hope so.Happy landings from Portugal
Kim nice to see u again but kinda hard to see from the glare of that rock on your finger… Kris thanks for your perspective info regarding finding a good maintenance company.. question???whether a controlled or uncontrolled airport should one always inform others when you clear off runaway.. him doing touch and go guess may not have mattered??
There is no such thing as too far, for the right person, IMO. If you really like your AME, or car mechanic, or whomever the person may be, there is no such thing as "too far", except if money is the issue, for fuel. ;)
How did the private training turn out? I seemed to lose track while she was getting ready to solo.
Series continues next week. Stay tuned and make sure you have clicked the bell for notifications!
I had a well known /trusted AI do 4 annuals on my RV-4. He missed the cracked engine mount 4 times. True story.
So, did Kim get her own KZhead channel? We haven't seen any updates on her here for her lessons and how she's doing for her PPL. Maybe she got uncomfortable doing the videos? I'm just curious, as I am sure a whole bunch of us are. Next, Glen, up in Canada, I forget the channel, just did a video on various cameras he's using. Want to comment on which cameras you're using, which you like, which you regret buying? Anyway, nice to see 75W on YT again, and hope your annual went well. Happy New Years to both of you!
How can the baron pilot be going in hot when you have just got air con installed lol
Is that a Fleet Farm hat you're wearing? We've missed you guys!
The same goes for your propeller maintenance. Lik’n these fly along…in person would be better😊 Your co-pilot seems a bit nervous (?) Memphis Propeller Olive Branch Mississippi
…time to buzz the tower.
Never called clear of the runway for following traffic???
It was edited out for time. Thanks for watching. 🍻
