Imagine Fiona Hill in a conversation with this guy… 😂
Dammit least title it right he said 3to5 that's pretty significant
Rodney Dangerfield "so I just finished my first book." Crowd cheers...."I'm thinking about reading another one!"
Judging by how quickly he speaks, I’m not surprised he’s also a fast reader. I used to speed read but lately I’ve found it exacerbates my insomnia, particularly when reading at night.
I found that people that reads a lot of books also are fast speakers. Thats interesting
I thought speed reading was a myth?
@@ryugo7713 I think that those who read fast is because they have an above-average brain capacity, not because they have been trained
@@Seadminist not really, you can train this sort of thing. It's a matter of interest and value
@@ryugo7713 you can usually read the first sentence of every paragraph and get the gist of what it the rest is about. If you go to the next paragraph and get lost, you can just go back and read the whole paragraph.
I read five books per decade....gotta start somewhere.
Haha true I'm definitely averaging above that though, but yes that's true.
@Businessman lmao! ... that's creative, and original,....big insult with a huge compliment haha , nice , good to see someone? keeping things fresh haha.
Some books you can read in one go and understand it all and retain the most important parts. Others you need weeks if not months to fully understand the ideas.
Well in this case Ben Shapiro is that smart
And some instances, for example med books it years hahaha. Especially with those 500 plus citations🔥🔥
I am kinda curious about how he manages his time. I know they talked about his daily routine but to manage a moderately big company, work on his show, raise his kids (he said that he is always around them when they are home), read, work out and make time for his wife takes an enormous mental toll. Unless he has hired other talents to make sure that the company runs, I really want to know how he manages his time. I thought Rogan did was a lot since he is involved in so many things (comedy act, writing jokes, 12hrs of pod a week, UFC commentary and analysis, training).
I don’t see how it’s possible. He’s got like 3 hours or less on weekdays between gym and picking kids up from school. So in 3 hours he’s reading, taking notes, and writing. The books he’s reading are dense, complicated books. I get that he’s bright, but fully digesting 3-5 books a week of that kind of material means we’re talking about reading near 1000 words per minute - of complicated shit, all the while with superb comprehension and retention. There may be good reason to doubt this is possible for anyone, no matter the level of genius or skill.
@@vincentm.andreassi186 True. Ben is a smart guy. and probably a fast reader. But five books a week with his schedule, especially in his line of work where he needs to be up-to-date with every major news in the country, its hard to fantom someone being able to do that. But ig some people are really good at managing time.
Oh no question. Some people are militant with their schedule and focus. I’m willing to bet some parts of these books are skimmed or skipped, that it’s probably more often 2-4 books a week, workouts don’t happen as often as he’d like, parts of weekends are devoted to reading (I think he mentions this along with keeping shabbos), and maybe even parts of the afternoon or occasional entire afternoons when his kids are home he’s actually gotta read for a couple hours instead of hang out with them. With a structure like that, you can pull off 5 books some weeks - but you’ve still gotta be Mr. Discipline, which I have no doubt he is.
If I'm not mistaken, Ben is not that involved with management of The Daily Wire. His business partner Jeremy Boreing handles the day to day management.
I’m actually more impressed that he writes all of his own show.
I'm most impressed by how he can convince people that what he says is real...
why would he lie about that. The risk to benefit ratio would not make that lie worthwhile at all…
@@catchbreath1143 what risk? No one can either prove or disprove these statements.
@@ellocodiablo That's with everyone you listen to who say they do "x". Just say you don't like him. Its not that hard.
He looks a good dad by the way. His smiles when talks about his son loves Tesla is about everything
Wish I could read 5 a week. Reading makes me so happy.
Same, ... I have the time, and I have the desire, but i could definitely pull that off if ? I had access to a legitimate unabridged audio books haha but unfortunately I just can't ! stomach the trolling from the narrators haha if ? it was just them and only them I'd be fine with it haha, but unfortunately that's just not the case ANYMORE haha.....it doesn't make me that happy though haha, I prefer other activities haha, but u do get a natrual high from it when u stumble upon the right literature though yes...., but no I couldn't read 5 a week traditionally God no haha. But with the right TECHNOLOGY? or if ? I switched bodies with someone else? using audiobooks? haha hell ! yeah I could, that sounds fun! but unfortunately I'm far off from any of those previous 2 realities haha. I'd like to know which ones of his are audio and which ones are traditionally read ? hmmm.
get off the computer
He was a child prodigy. He has probably been doing it since he was 8. Not sure where he finds the time to run a company, work, have a family and read about a book a day. Speed reading. Unless he is including the Berenstain Bears he reads to his kids. But I imagine they are working on 12 rules for life by Jordan peterson by now.
The guy is probably extremely efficient at managing his time. But it sounds like he has no personal time.
Adderal
I take 5 dumps a week
😂
Haha
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. - Ecclesiastes 1:17-18 Now who wants to break the bad news?... Da know what? Somehow I suspect he's already fully aware. He's a bright lad...after all.
“Damn, wassup wit all dees books”
Can't use a Kindle or highlight on Sabbath? What?
It's easy for people to say something like "there's no way Ben can read all those books and understand what he's read", etc. if they imagine Ben is only as smart as they are. But Ben isn't restricted by that cumbersome limitation. He is much smarter than they are.
It doesn’t matter how smart you are. I like Ben and even I think he’s fudging something here. There’s only 24 hours in a day, it’s not possible that he spends time with his kids like he says, exercises all of the time like he says, works like he says, AND reads for hours every day on top of that. This isn’t even including things like his religious obligations and everyday life stuff, like presumably he cooks and eats food at some point.
Ben probably read his books in a speed like how he speaks..
Lmfaooo no wonder why he speaks fast too and 5 books a week
Haha
Yeah but hour many hours does he train BJJ, Lex??
Just out here in my garage
God: "You read the good book on a device that uses electricity and other materials that I (supposedly) invented for your use, instead of fibrous wood made into pages after killing trees!? How dare you, may your soul be damned! Straight to hell." Despite poking fun at his intense Sabbath practices, he sounds like a good father with good ideals and I admire his adherence to discipline.
5 books per week... 🤯🤯 Impressive... 👍🏾✨ Something to aspire... ✌🏾✌🏾
Great video and to listen others opinions, but reading in a race is just crazy
the point is to understand the book ! it's clear you are so smart that you only debate high school students and avoiding professors like Norman finkelstein
He goes to universities and professors are allowed to challenge him. They choose not too
Given how he is challenged by his opponents on all angles and he always has a response, he is definitely not lying. You can tell he has been doing this a very long time. 7k books is insane
I want to know if ben started talking fast and reading fast from his childhood, or if he got better by reading a crap ton of books and everything else just got better from there. personally, im slow af at reading... like, slow slow. even talking, im probably the exact opposite to ben. I havent read a single book in years, all my reading has been internet based. im only 20 so i how i can turn this around and be capable of articulate and precise language and read quickly enough to at least get through one book a week easily. that will likely take some time though.
Reading 5 books. is a book almost every day of the week that means he is reading hundreds of pages a day. Is he sitting around for like 8 hours reading?
Speed readers (which i assume Shapiro is one of) can read about 50 pages per hour . Most books are about 200-400 pages long, so it would take him about 4-8 hours per book. If you spread it out throughout the week it's actually not that much especially if you don't watch tv or spend time on facebook
@@Mako2401 I don't believe a guy as busy as ben Shapiro would spend a minimum of 20 hours a week reading or a maximum of 40 hrs that sounds ridiculous and honestly a waste of time to be getting things done. The concept of speed reading also sounds dumb I think reading comprehension would suffer greatly it you read 5 books a week you would forget a lot of what you read quickly.
@@Jesus.X You'd be surprised how much time you have if you organize everything
@Jesus.X You can see it when Ben talks that he reads a lot. He did say 5 on a very good week. So he probably averages 3-4 per week. He probably reads about 150 pages per day. Ben is busy but he treats it like a full time job. He spends several hours a day working and then goes home. 8 work, 8 sleep, and 8 free time. He probably reads very fast. Depending on the material I am reading, it takes me 1-2 mins per page. He probably read 2-3hrs a day. He does it for fun. Just like you can play video games or watch TV for 3hrs straight and not even blink an eye, he looks at books like that. That's a lot of books. I listen to about 2-3 audio books a month and I read 2-4 physical books a month depending on the month. I am not anything special. So it wouldn't shock me if he does what he says he does.
He definitely does not read that many books
I believe it. Whenever he makes these public appearances, anytime he's asked a question he knows the topic front and back. Hes clearly well read.
It's not about quantity. You need to take the time to Obrien and reflect on the things you've read. You can't do that with 5 books a week
Yeah he probably does that better than us too. Listen, there are levels. Just humbly accept it.
his IQ is most likely higher than yours, he's able to do things that are difficult for you. that's okay, that's just life.
@@fl260 rubbish, if you read 5 books a week you are not going to retain much of that at all. There are still benefits to it though, as you gain broad knowledge on a lot of subjects... you understand the general gist of a lot of topics.... but you will be lacking in understanding of the details... it depends on what you are looking for from your reading. If you really want expertise in a subject and a deep understanding , it doesn't matter how smart you are, you have to read slower and stop to reflect and think about each chunk of reading that you do, or your mind will see no reason to retain it, it won't value with as much importance.
@@the_intolerance Its nothing to do with high iq, I have a high iq and if I read too quickly the vast majority of what I read will not be retained long term.
@@anab0lic your not high iq than

I am Russian. For the first time in my life I had to slow down an English video to 0'75
There are no such amount of good books on the world (change my mind). Reading 5 per week doesn’t look like learning anything, it rather looks like an obsession with process of reading itself, which is not bad per se, but not super different from “consuming content” from other sources. Learning is not just reading books, is it? So, is it some sort of belief instilled in American schools from early childhood that “reading physical books == intelligence” or learning or whatever, why people are so obsessed with that
Difference being Ben is an actual prodigy who got into college at 15.
He does not read 5 books a week lol he skims that shit
What books he read?
Hermione Granger IRL
Does he understand any of them?
He went to Harvard and speaks and thinks really really fast, I'm sure he can. I'm just pissed that I was born with inferior intelligence.
You can tell by the way he talks he's retaining a lot of what he's reading.
I'd love if Lex would've asked him what 5 books he's reading this week, what he read last week and the week before that 😉
cat in hat, green eggs and ham, horton hears a palestinian
Dudes just on Adderall, get over him
He would read more if he didn't keep running out of crayons.
How many times can you re-read mein kampf and the art of the deal? Jkjk
🥰
First
Don't know how I feel about speed reading vs. reading for comprehension. The fact he pays somebody to record what he "would like to remember" is a bit odd. Everybody needs a hobby though.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I read 7 so what?
You cant read a science book in a week.
Yeah yeah I saw that tai Lopez video as well benny boi. Quit the bs
reads so much, still supports genocide. what good is all this reading if it turns you into a villain
Should we have not attacked Japan after pearl harbor since we killed innocent people? Your logic is by those who don't read books
reads five books a week yet still lives in an echo chamber...
He literally engages with people who hold different ideological beliefs, quite the opposite of an echo chamber.
Sure he does. maybe pixie books.
Lies.
I don't find reading 5 books a week that impressive, a medicine student probably read even more per week, the thing is having the ability to schedule you own day, and that became harder with a 9am to 5pm job, I don't think he spends more than 4 hours a day in reading.
And absolutely no cooking or cleaning or any house labor. Good job little boy.
why when he can pay for that
"I can never be as successful as he is and that makes me jealous and salty. I need to express it to the entire world."
All those books read, yet can't call out Israeli apartheid and the murder of shireen abu akleh
Not buying this at all, he wouldn't be a conservative.
You sound painfully ignorant lol
I get what you're saying but remember that the craziest ideologies come from the smartest of people. There are very smart radical leftists just as much as radical right people.
This guy has a sad life. He just seems burdened.
Wife, kids, driven with purpose, rich... Yeah, how sad.
@@fl260 there are millions of people with the same who are sad. He just looks sad. Everything is so serious to him. He's trying to fight the world so it makes sense he won't be happy.
@@boreduser12 overcoming challenge is where you get most of your fullfillment in life, he seems to have plenty of that... an easy life isn't better.... the path of least resistance is the least rewarding. Take the easy route and you will be full of regrets st the end of your life, that I assure you.
This is so unbelievably irritating to me. Why do so many people talk with this religious extremist? All the crazy bs is ignored because he doesn’t push his beliefs onto others…? But how is someone that blindly devoted to a belief system that’s thousands of years old a competent person to widen one’s horizon in a discussion about the world were living in? This is so unbelievably irritating
"Religious extremist" lmao dude touch some grass.
You sound painfully closed minded, which is so unbelievably irritating.
Take him on the merits of his arguments, not your dogmatic belief that religious people are stupid or blindly devoted
Then don’t watch it
You clearly haven't heard Ben (or any theist for that matter) speak about the grounds for believing in God, else you wouldn't call it blind belief. And in fact, it wasn't atheism that gave rise to the world widening achievements of science...it was theism. Second, the idea that a belief system is errant because of how long it has existed is a logical fallacy. If you'd like scholarly book references on these topics let me know. Deeming theism as "crazy BS" is your call but it amounts to ignoring almost all of human history.
Yeah, but he's the author of "True Allegiance", so either he reads baby books or great literature just goes over his head.
I hate his guts but this is impressive.
@T S what makes sense?
Idk ? whether to feel sorry for u , for having the time or the lack of a life to actually hate a person? or to be jealous of u for not having the distractions I HAVE to be able to focus on something? anything... haha.
Yes it is btw.....
@T S read a book before you speak to me again
@@robinhood2550 despise and hate are literally synonyms. Good job trying to sound smart I guess.
