    • I agree about the court coverage and forehand, but there's players on the wta with better slices: Hsieh, for instance. Radwanska if she hadn't retired, would also be better in that department. I think Barty overuses the slice. Even with the current field, she will be found out next year as players find ways to nullify her slice backhand, but I do hope she does well at the Aussie Open. Australia has suffered enough with very good players not winning in their own backyard over the years..

  • A lot to love in Barty's game, but what l like the best about her is that she doesn't scream like a maniac at all, much less every time she strikes the ball. No doubled over at the waist, veins popping out of her skull COME ONs, no drama whatsoever. That is class.

    • Actually her volleying, overhead put aways and court coverage have not been talked about much. Barty should start believing she can win even if she is not hitting aces. Directing more kick serves at opponents can throw them off balance. I believe she can be more dangerous and unpredictable in 2020 by approaching the net more often.

  • My two favourite players in the draw and sad one had to lose. Both ladies play intriguing tennis, especially Ashleigh’s game and i have a permanent grin on my face when I watch them. It is not all about power but technique and skills and speed and clever play. This mix that both women show has reinvigorated women’s tennis. I love Venus and Serena, but they need to add more o this kind of play to their games as these younger players have figured out how to overcome strength, speed and power play. How Ashleigh failed to win Wimbledon 2019 is still puzzling to me. She is truly a worthy number 1, regardless of only having won 1 major. Well done WTA for putting on such a tasty spread this week. I have been lying in my bed and waited for the highlights to appear which have kept me royally entertained. Thank you all ladies of the 2019 WTA Final. Well done. Each one of you had earned your break. The WTA has a bright future and there is Coco Gauff waiting in the wings for next year. Mouthwatering prospects. I aim to be here in this life this time next year, regardless of this #CancerBattle. So let it be Almighty God. Thank you.

  • I never get tired of watching Barty's tennis - she plays with brain and finesse, and wins. So many tools in her bag and very unpredictable. Outstanding around net. And, that best sliced backhand. I wonder if she grew up playing primarily with one-handed backhand (like Graff) and learned to hit double-handed topspin later on.

  • I couldn't be prouder of Ash. When I became a fan last year, I believed that by this time she would be world no. 1 in doubles and in the top 12 in singles. I'm still kinda hoping she can take the top spot in doubles some day, but being world #1 in singles and finishing at the top in the WTA Finals just shows just how her game has improved, and it couldn't have been done without her circle and fanbase. And well done to Svitolina on making consecutive Finals appearances. 👏👏👏

    @reebul8768@reebul87684 жыл бұрын
    • Halep just rely too much on her court speed and just don't use her head sometimes. Her serve is not that good lately and she seem like she has phobia coming to the net. Her matches against Elina and Pliskova were both in her hands but let it go in the latter stages of the set. Guaranteed she had not played competitively much since the US Open but I hope she'll win 1-2 slams along with an Olympic medal next season.

  • This , is Women's TENNIS at its best. These two young ladies are along it look easy. Although I am partial to Svitolina, I cannot be surprised at Barty. I enjoy seeing one-handed play coming back to be the norm for tennis. I saw two-handed first used by Cris Evert against Martina way back in the day& I was surprised at how she was allowed to use that repeatedly! I expected her to be penalized...everyone started doing except for the Europeans. For me , tennis should be played one-handed, the idea being that the racket was an extension of your arm. That's what I loved about Amelie Mauresmo, Francesca Sciavone, Justine Henin's & a few that could pull it off. Two-handed tennis seemed like baseball. This match btwn Barty & Svitolina showed that. A great match it was indeed! Grace, precision, speed, power,& no grunting!

    • Andrew Mark but when you get those lucky net cord shots because you play agressive tennis

    • @@101poumi I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you, to be quite honest. That that was what you took away from what I said says everything about the kind of person you are.

    • Andrew Mark what did i say when you have net cords is that you play agreesisfe

      @101poumi@101poumi4 жыл бұрын
    • Andrew Mark what’s wrong with what he said? It’s true that balls that hit the net cord go over more often if they’re hit with more pace aka with aggressive tennis.

      @icyolives@icyolives4 жыл бұрын
    • @@icyolives I never said it wasn't true. What I did say was that she played a tremendous match, albeit that she was a little fortunate. I wasn't even referring to the net cord, but I would rather not do Ash a disservice by languishing on it. As for Football Winner- I've encountered him before, and let's just say that it doesn't surprise me that he looked for negatives in what I said, rather than appreciating that actually what I said was positive.

  • Barty’s backhand though still weak has improved drastically. Players keep going to her backhand because they think that will throw her off her game and not thinking that she has the best backhand slice in the game. She can slice her way to any victory. Good match!!!
