Dude as a Godzilla fan I agree. By far had the best cast of characters that EACH played a role and is most definitely a top 2 film in the MV. Had a great balance of establsihed characters AND Monster action. It's definitely the most rounded film in the series!

idk what you're smoking, the Skullcrawlers are probably one of the best monsters in the monsterverse. Why tf would a T.Rex be a better design for a monster than that? Giant mouth with teeth to match, a tongue that shoots out and can grab things to pull into the mouth, and the tail can even constrict along with 2 powerful legs with claws. It's a cool concept, the design is well done, and a cool name to go with it lol.

I take it a him being "bored" with pale gray ambiguously bipedal snake-headed-creature. Compared to TOHO's og, Skullcrawlers only lacks variation but even in MV Tiamat, Scylla, Shimo, so on and so forth... Had atleast accentuated colors.

Without a doubt in my mind, the best Monsterverse movie. I used to disregard the plot-line with the Russel family, and Serizawa's eventual convincing Mark to quote "... the only way to heal our wounds is to make peace with the demons who created them." Its just such a faithful and loving movie to the source material, and adding in MOST of what the later Monsterverse would build off of and use. Underrated and disliked far too much...

“Let them fight” is the best line in the entire franchise because that’s what this universe represents.
This is my List: 1. Godzilla: King of the Monsters ( It was the movie that got me into the Monsterverse, this might be because of nostalgia ) 2. Godzilla x Kong: New empire ( genuinely peak cinema, possibly the best human part, just an amazing fun time ) 3. Godzilla vs Kong ( Action is amazing, the final fight is just a chefs kiss, definitely my least favorite human part ) 4. Kong: Skull island ( Also really nostalgic, even though I didn't knew that it was part of the Monsterverse, the human part is also great, for its time, it was unique due to its jungle setting, but then hollow earth came in, just a great monster movie ) 5. Godzilla ( I really liked it when I saw it, Godzilla was dark, The MUTOs were an excellent edition, my main issue is that its too dark, literally, its hard to see the finale without HD ) This is all MY opinion, its ok if you agree or a disagree :)

In my personal opinion, I would rank 2014’s Godzilla slightly higher, due to the fact that I actually cared about whether the human characters were going to die or not.
This, MV succeeds where MCU & DCEU fails, for what is worth, there is 0 bad movie in Monster Verse, hopefully stayed that way. It delivers somewhat diverse yet still coherent/singular goaled overarching stories. Human drama may or may not be the driving force for the movie's 2nd to 3rd act, besides the acting and scriptwriting, every single instance of it being consequential is fresh and adds depth to the symbiotic philosophy.
As an amateur photographer I can confirm that Mason holding up her camera like a weapon is completely valid like moving around (especially when you need to run for your life) with even a small camera dangling from your neck is a one way ticket to neck/back pain all next day also putting Skull Island in D tier is crazy 💀
Godzilla King of The Monsters is an S Tier Movie. It is so hype and the feels are real. The CGI and Music is the best in the monsterverse. The final fight is insane.

KOTM score is fucking goated. One of the best film scores ever made, and only lost the Saturn award because of a literal musical. Also I love nearly everything about it and can't stop fawning over it. KOTM is my favorite movie of all time for hundreds of reasons, and it transformed me from a casual fan, to a big fan, and into a diehard fan. I straight-up have a small Godzilla SHRINE on one of my dressers with figurines, a couple Godzilla-themed table-top games, the criterion collection Showa films, and a big-ass poster on the wall!
KOTM was no doubt the best monster verse for me, I loved ghidorah and his design was awesome, along with mothra and rodan and of course Godzilla

Yeah he still lost in the end (as he should have) , but either kong got a lot stronger in the last few years, or Kong could’ve beaten godzilla if he wasn’t drugged in 2021

Nah. KING Kong was heavily sedated. The drug remained in his system. So whenever he got angry, he became dizzy. But Godzilla was dead serious about fighting KING Kong.
This movie did a great job by making the human characters more likable but nailing the monster scenes. I may be a Godzilla nerd, but seeing Kong interact with others of his kind with a mix of curiosity and frustration is so freaking good!

@@Rain321_ Me and you watched two different movies then lol It was a major letdown for me. The characters were once again empty side pieces that only existed for comedy and to drive the plot forward, it had a shitty "chosen one" side plot, Godzilla was only really in it to drive the plot forward (honestly if he was cut from this movie I really don't think much would change), this film had awful pacing, the entire movie feels like its racing to get to the end, it introduces so many ideas (some just conflicting with pre-established lore) and doesn't explain anything. Skar King is an awesome concept, but his characterisation is so off and nothing is explained about him. You were right about saying this film had good villains (definitely not the best because Ghidorah exists) but what is the point in creating these interesting villains if you won't even give them enough screen time to explain who they are, why they do what they do and what their motivations are. Those 3 things are the most basic things you need when writing a character and so many of the characters in this film are lacking these traits. So no, this film did not have "the best" human characters, villains or monsters. It did have good action but tbh the entire film felt like a montage of cool action scenes strung together by a mediocre plot.

Dang I completley disagree with this list. Regarding movies, just take this list and flip it the other way around. Godzilla 2014 was perfectly dark and gritty, making every appearance of the monsters truly special. Add that to the fact that it by far had the best cinematography of the MV. A perfect comeback for the King. Kong Skull Island has the best cast of human characters and and wonderful pacing that establsihed the characters and great monster scenes. KOTM was by far the best movie of the past 3 as it had well established characters as well but also redefined the seriousness of a threat these monsters posed. GvK is definitely dead last in the universe, which is absolutely sad. The characters were absolutely atrocious and the film was full of inconsistencies. It was mindless action with no rhyme or reason. This is where Godzilla x Kong improves. Although it had a ton of action, the movie KNEW what it wanted to be and also posed a threat. Order 2014, Kong Skull Island, KOTM (order depends on your style) GxK The New Empire Godzilla v Kong

I hope they bring back Gareth Edwards as one of the director of monster verse again. he did a good job portraying the lore of godzilla back in 2014. I love how he directed that film, a deep narrative lore and emotion that was the perfect opener for the monster verse franchises
I think I’m on my own when I’m ranking them like this: -Godzilla: King of The Monsters -Godzilla (2014) -Kong: Skull Island -Godzilla Vs Kong -Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire I miss the epic scores, the mystery of the titans, seeing them from the POV of a human so they look giant, I miss the more realistic movements (not like where Godzilla suplexes Kong or Godzilla dives off a fucking mountain into the sea) But yes the human scenes were pretty boring
Human scenes were fun. But the cutting away NO. The kaiju fights shouldn’t be cut focusing on the humans at the same time. It’s lazy and boring we wanna see a fight. We have kaiju next to human shots in the film several times . Godzilla suplexing Kong and jumping isn’t goofy for a film with Godzilla and looks great.
Here's my take: Godzilla (2014): A tier Kong: Skull Island (2017): A tier KOTM (2019): B tier GvK (2021): C- tier GxK (2024): F tier Here's my reasoning: 2014 was a great movie. They really got the force of nature part down. Godzilla really felt terrifying on the big screen. But he was rather weak compared to other Gojis. Skull Island was just fantastic. The storyline was amazing, the CGI was great, and I don't know what you were on when you said the skull crawlers were boring. They have better-rendered models than FUCKING SHIMO (who btw had terrible CGI compared to everyone else for some reason). I don't know why you all are hating on this movie. It was better than most in the series. 2019 was pretty good. I love the way they portrayed my boy Ghidorah, and it made me so happy that he was called Monster Zero for the first time in several decades. The CGI was great, the storyline was decent, but the human characters were boring af. GvK is decent at best. It was just FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT and no soul whatsoever. The movie was one big cash grab, but it still deserves a little respect for how well they put it together. A lot of plot holes, though. And the way they portrayed Mechagoji really ruined the movie for me. Very disappointed when I saw it in theaters. GxK: Just wow. Whoever wrote this move seriously deserves a slap in the face. Has probably one of the worst storylines I have ever seen in a goji movie. The way they portrayed my boy Goji was just depressing. It was riddled with so many plot holes that it didn't make sense. The CGI was terrible compared to LITERALLY EVERY OTHER MOVIE IN THE SERIES. They seriously downgraded. You must be on American Fanboy cocaine, you couldn't pay me 100 bucks to watch this movie again. Waste of my fucking time. This movie doesn't deserve A FRACTION of the praise it gets. I don't know what you all are saying. My thoughts: 1: Godzilla 2014 2: GKOTM 3: Kong Skull island 4: GvK 5: GxK (The absolute worst, imo. It's so disconnected from the rest of the franchise film to the point it's genuinely frustrating to think about. Never let Adam cook when it comes to this franchise.)

The moment the best movie in the Monsterverse series was thrown into D tier, I knew what kind of list this would be, lol.
I had to turn up my brightness all the way on my phone to be able to see anything from 2014.

I haven't seen the latest film or the shows, but in my opinion of the ones I have seen, the monsterverse peaked in King of the Monsters, it strikes the best balance between the humans and the monsters in my opinion, it prominantly shows the monsters and their action without completely neglecting the human characters like GvK. Ghidora is also the best villain by far and is barely defeated. For me, GvK just got too goofy with too many contrivances for it to work, they wanted to keep Kong safe from Godzilla, so they took him on... a boat. They tricked Godzilla into leaving by turning off their engines, but then turned them back on almost immediately. Scanning an energy source suddenly means you can use its energy. And a random guy somehow knows how to use a ship he was just introduced to as a defibrilator. Also how TF did they build a massive dome around Kong and think he wouldn't notice, that must have taken years to construct. It had some cool parts, like Ghidorha being the twist villain again and Godzilla winning the showdowns, but the humans were nothing, while the monster stuff had too many plot holes to function. Also, reguarding Emma, she didn't explicitally want the destruction of humanity, the goal was to bring back the titans so that they could restore the natural order, which is exactly what happens at the end of the film and is presented as a good thing. The issue was that she didn't realise Ghidorha wasn't a normal titan, he didn't want to restore the natural order, he was an alian who wanted to terraform earth to his own liking. It was something beyond her knowledge, and she switched sides in the end because she realised Ghidorha's nature, not just because her daughter was upset. The film definately has its flaws, mainly reguarding the ORCA, but I see people often misunderstand Emma's arc. Within the context of the monsterverse, her original plan was a good thing, Ghidorha was just the variable that threw everything off.

In most of the movies starring Godzilla, a jarring flaw I noticed was that KoTM was the ONLY film to actually use Godzilla's theme at all, GVK did an offbrand Godzilla theme and that was really jarring to hear on watching then there was like no Godzilla type music at all in new empire. I forgive 2014 for not having any since it was the first in the series just initiating the kaiju, but after KoTM everything else seemed more like a Kong show or letdown on Godzilla's portrayal. Film list: 1.King of the Monsters 2.Godzilla 2014 3.Godzilla x Kong New Empire 4.GvK 5.Kong Skull Island. Granted, I love Kong, but Godzilla is what started the monster verse and who I ultimately came to see.

Kong Skull Island in D-tier is wild. The movie is easily A-tier or freakin S-Tier. Besides the coool Cinematography the music was great.

Agreed. Skull island had the best cast in all of the monsterverse. Not to mention the action was well placed, and CGI still better than all monsterverse movies after it. In fact, Godzilla 2014 did so bad at box office that when Skull Island came out it hit over it and then some. i think elizabeth olsen’s character and her son were a pretty great way to protray what its like for a civilian to get caught up in a fight of titans, it added to the horror aspect of the movie

Here’s my honest list 1: Godzilla (I really enjoyed it honestly, they made godzilla feel so massive and the fights felt impactful) 2:Godzilla vs Kong (Monke vs lizard) 3: Kotm (can’t really say much just enjoyed it) 4: skull island (honestly the human scenes arnt really that bad and loved the final fight with kong and the skull crawler) 5: Gxk (scarking was great and happy kong got more character as well, Godzilla felt a bit like a pissed off toddler as it honestly feels like he lost his character a bit, shimo was underwhelming as well, most fights as well were underwhelming and really damn short) 6: SI Series (it’s boring) Haven’t seen monarch so can’t say nothing

I wish this franchise stuck with the realistic tone from the 2014 movie instead of the MCU-level whiplash afterwards where anti-gravity tech suddenly exists and there's another world that's upside down and Godzilla could laser through to it from the ground. Even Pacific Rim could pull that off more believably.
I just saw the New Empire and - POTENTIONAL SPOILERS - . . . . i agree with you that human characters are the greatest here. The new lore is insteresting and fights are fun. However, i felt that fights were very quick, the monsters Godzilla fought were just jobbers and Skar King and Shimo duo really had minimal screen time, i thought Skar King would be much bigger threat, but he was just one dimensional "evil monky" with H*tler syndrome, he really wasnt doing much and went down quickly, even in first fight with Kong he kinda got overpowered and relied to Shimo once he got smacked to the ground. If there was like additional atleast 10-20 minutes of Skar King and Shimo to get them developed as threating villains, the movie would be 10/10 (Also i kinda dont understand why Shimo was passive after being free, the movie would benefit of last final fight between Shimo and G+K, cause the monster looked strong enough for 1v2. The movie itself was fun, i would place it under Godzilla vs Kong movie tho.
Shimo clearly didn’t want to be a villain, she was being tortured to be villainous because of Skar King bascially giving her a shock anytime he wanted her to do his bidding. Shimo freezing Skar King was revenge for the centuries of torture they received and now under a benevolent ruler all of the apes and Shimo are now good guys because they are actually just good natured creatures
@@ericgropuis yea i understand that, i am just saying that it could have been written that Shimo was actually hostile all along, i would retain Skar King torturing her to his will, but once Skar King was dead and she got the revenge, she could be hostile too. There was no point of her being a "good" monster, we could have gotten another 5 minutes of good fight, also it doesnt make sense, Godzilla is hostile to all other monster except mothra and Kong to some extent, but Godzilla somehow ignores Shimo? And Shimo is acting weird too in comparison to other monster, all other monsters are teritorial and would fight Godzilla. You know, its just odd that Shimo is passive and Godzilla is passive to her too.
@@YoungSweezy I think that would be lame and a waste of a potential ally. Godzilla and Kong both saw as Shimo as not a threat. Godzilla isn’t hostile to every monster just monsters who pose a threat and ignore his rule especially since Shimo is going back to hollow earth and doesn’t pose a threat to the nature order. The fight was over when Skar King died, the twist is that Shimo was never evil just abused to do evil things and both Kong and Godzilla realize that hell even Godzilla’s roar is him telling Shimo to attack Skar King. I think it’s been retconned that she froze Ghidorah as well so she has been good in the past. There’s more potential with her being alive, now in any future Kong movie he has a powerful ally with Shimo to rule Hollow Earth so he doesn’t have to try and drag Godzilla into his fights and so then Godzilla can do his own thing on the surface

Tbh, I was surprised how badly received Godzilla: King of the Monsters was since I quite enjoyed it, and after watching The Last Jedi I feel like I knew what a bad movie looked like (I literally wanted to do anything but sit there). Also, we need that Peter Jackson's King Kong video.

True tier list: S: Godzilla KOTM Inherited the perfect monster size impression from previous movie, way more monster scenes, more characters added to the monsters and making them more purposeful. It opened the gate to the Monster Universe. A: Godzilla 2014 The most menacing Godzilla movie, most impressive with the size comparison, only not enough monster scene and atomic breath is kinda disappointing. B: Skull Island Only not big enough, the story writing is decent. C: GvK This is where Godzilla movies starts becoming Stranger Things, only not as good, even compared to the let’s-beat-the-Soviet-Union one. D: Monarch Not great show, story of Japanese kid is just pure cliche and used a typical messed up relationship as eyecatcher. However, it did add more settlings to the story and helped us to understand the movie better. E: GvK 2 It said something, showed some new features, then what? Script is poor, no Godzilla for most of the time, the mother is out of the character, the daughter chose to leave a place she belongs so she can be ignored again at school, monsters losing their huge size intimidation and looks literally like the lazy Pacific Rim 2 CGI, doesn’t feel impressive or huge. You want WWE fight? Just let John Cena and the Rock put on the monster suit and they can do way much better.

My opinion: Haven’t watched: - Kong Skull Island (TV Show) - Monarch: Legacy of Monsters 5: Godzilla 2014 - This movie was good and the first monsterverse movie I saw, but I swear the movie directors had a strike or something cause I only saw him like 3 times (not actually just exaggerating). 4: Kong Skull Island 2017 - This movie was really cool, don’t get me wrong, but most of the movie is just adventure and talking. I will say, the last fight between Kong and Skullcrawler was very nice but not really my top 3. 3. Godzilla x Kong 2024: This movie is just lore and fighting, though it does explain some backstory of Kong and man, when I watched this in cinema I came in with high expectations and came out with, well, medium expectations? 2. Godzilla vs Kong 2021: this movie was fantastic, from the fight scenes to the sound effects. Though Godzilla king of the monsters was better in my opinion, this movie was thrilling and I loved it. Mechagodzilla was fire too. 1. Godzilla king of the monsters 2019: this movie was amazing, the fighting, the vfx, everything (except for the storyline I got kind of confused). -1??? Godzilla Minus One 2023: hear me out, I know this isn’t a monsterverse movie but damn I loved this movie when I watched it.

Btw if your mad about godzilla winning in gvk that’s because kong was sedated for most of the movie. On the boat they had to add sedative to make him move as little as possible and a fun fact the sedative was made with kongs blood so that’s why it last most of the movie. What the sedative does is if he moves/ gets frustrated it makes it harder for him to breath.
