    • It was pathetic though, Hikaru didnt utilise the bishop v pawn play he had in the end. White could have gone a pawn up by taking the black bishop on F3 and sinking the check, but he strategically let it go. THe knight became trapped and G5 and F4 were left open for Magnus to attack.

    • @Luffy Eh? He had Knight F4 to Bishop G7 and totally botched it. These are moves that amateurs don't miss. Perhaps if you are so senstive then confine yourself to other levels. These guys are world champions and so shou;ldnt be making these errors. I saw the move straight away.

  • Magnus using psycho trick... When he Arrives late, the opponent thinks at least I have few seconds advantage that means if I get into time scramble, I have a chance to win. Apperntly opponent puts himself in a lot of stress contemplating this. Magnus waits until the tension builds up and break his opponent in the end game. This trick works all the time 😂

    • @@kevinexline5392 Magnus absolutely obliterated Ian. It was very rough for him as incredible of a player as Ian is. I think now that he gave up the title he will try to play for it again. It would be cool to see him face off against Ding, though I think it would have the same outcome as with Ian. Ding also made too many mistakes and had trouble with time management. Ding is one of my favorite players ever but there is no doubt in my mind that Ding would be suffering against Magnus. And I really think all of this speaks volumes to the level that Magnus is on. Just simply outclasses even grandmasters in the top 5 of the world.

The level is insane I could not win against either of them even if they had one minute time and I had as much time as I wanted to have. This is nuts.

  • Sometimes I wonder if Magnus's pattern of being late is intentional, in order to psyche out his opponents, or whether he just has a genuinely hard time waking up or getting himself ready and on time for the matches. Anyway, the time disadvantages this puts himself in hardly seem to matter.

Time control is part of the game of chess and he is the best in the world so who is anyone to tell him he cant sacrifice some time to gain a psychological advantage. Not following the rules in normal traffic is illegal and waiting to make your first move is not illegal.

  • its insane how mentally fucked Hikaru is against Magnus. Surely, with such a winning position and being probably the best blitz player in the world he wins this game. I think the fact that he even took time to think on the move dxe6+, which is such a natural move, makes it look like he gets in his own head specifically against Magnus. Im sure Magnus showing up late adds its own mental stacks as well.
