Also don’t forget, there are a ton of ps5 users that can’t play it with all the dlc installed because the game will just crash on every startup. I am one of those 😢😂
I noticed everyone can’t play with automatron dlc, but it works on PS5 for me. My external memory is an SSD so idk if that helps. Either way I’m excited for next gen version.
@@Dorian_BarberI know it worked for me at a certain point with the internal ps5 hard drive because Iplayed with all dlc’s installed when I got my ps5 last year and this year I have to leave the Automatron dlc uninstalled…it’s weird

@@kevincowan9414 from what I have read, it has something to do with conflicting assets in the game files between the dlc and the main game. Like the others have said, it seems to be centered around Automoton, but some people (me) also have problems with the wasteland workshop, which really sucks.
I've never had this issue? Is that a thing? It has always run perfectly fine for me on PS5 with all DLC installed.
I'm excited for the new bugs. Can't wait to start glitching across the Commonwealth once more.

The Halloween stuff is because the nukes fell on October 23, 2077. So in Fallout 4 they have a bunch of Halloween decorations already around the map.
I think the Halloween stuff is because it’s the Halloween season just before the bombs dropped. The playable character mentions getting Sean a Halloween costume at the very start of the game and you can see pumpkin buckets and Halloween decorations once you go to sanctuary when you leave the vault and look around the houses

Yeah I think he just has a misinformed notion that it's a seasonal drop like a live service would have instead of what FO4 Intends with building the atmosphere how we already have halloween stuff because the bombs fell its just to add to that for those that love building settlements I think it's neat it's being added for those that like settlements

Halloween is Q4 and FOLon was due in Q4 2023. They wanted to break this mod from the start. The same will go with Skyblivion in 2025. Petty gnome todd. Now - be a good "whale" and go play FO76. Or should I say - piggy bank.

I doubt this breaks anything major in SS2, or for a long period of time. The mod is almost entirely F4SE-free. People can play it on Xbox, after all.

If they don’t change the fundamentals then they’re literally just setting PC gamers back. Mods already do more in every single way imaginable that there’s just no chance Bethesda could achieve something even remotely close.
I couldnt get myself to play vanilla, the pipe weapons were such trash, I needed the modern weapons mod just to get through the bland story.

The alternative is what? Releasing the update on consoles and not Pc?? Or not releasing it whatsoever? You do realize that if they didn’t release it on PC then people would still be complaining. I agree that they should’ve added more, but I never thought we would get to a point in time where people are complaining about a resolution-FPS upgrade upon bug fixes. You also have to give them credit as it is due, Modders wouldn’t have anything to work with if there was no foundation to build upon not only that but they have done more in terms of mods functionality than any other studio that comes to mind.

The interference with Fallout London and potentially Fallout Miami will be the main issues this faces. The secondary issues will be it breaking most mods.
I really hope this works but i just don't trust Bethesda to release a functioning product anymore.
I can't play 76 on pc cause it won't save my settings. I can't play FO4 on PS5 because it crashes on startup. I couldn't play 76 on console or PC day 1 because it crashed every 35 minutes. Bethesda has some of the most incompetent devs on f any industry.
Sadly, I've set Fallout 4 on Steam to not update. I can't stand having my mods break again. I will forever wish games had version selectors like Minecraft has had since the beginning, that'd prevent mods from breaking imo.

@@Hateroz changing my app manifest was the first thing I did. I also made a copy just in case, same with my fallout 4 install.
Steam has version selections if the game provides multiple versions to select from.

I think the Halloween decorations coincide with the fact that it was just before Halloween when the bombs dropped. So if you really want to make it seem like your settlement is PreWar that will add to the aesthetic

Some others have already mentioned this, but the Halloween pack isnt as random as it sounds. In the Fallout Lore, the bombs dropped in late October. Honestly surprising there isnt MORE halloween decor scattered through the base games
You can't disable automatic updates on Steam. You can only set it to update when you launch the game. So you have to be offline when you launch the game and have that setting on if you want to avoid the update.
There's an app manifest file in your steam folder you have to set to "read only" that'll make it so steam cannot update your Fallout 4. Each game has its own app manifest. Find out which is for Fallout 4 and boom now you don't get automatic updates

I know I'm asking ALOT from Bethesda, but maybe fix the area around diamond city so I don't immediately crash by walking to close to the city?
btw for anyone interested someone said on reddit that the update did some changes in how the engine manage scripts so pretty much all mods will die at launch

the Halloween things are because it was Halloween season when the bombs fell. its to theme your settlement builds better.
One of the first things about this update was very subtle and it concerns Mama Murphy. Now when you give her drugs, Codsworth no longer dislikes that action.
They could have made at least an new DLC for this game to come with the Next Gen Update like Automatron they will barely add anything new its almost a simple marketing label so they can put the game in spotlight again and sell more copies while the show is still fresh in peoples mind.

you cannot turn off auto-updates in steam, but what you can do is make the manifest file (using the app ID) read-only and that should prevent steam from updating the game (though I haven't tested if it stops you launching from steam).
Gonna be interesting how much this update breaks. Like in Skyrim, they broke script extender with the anniversary edition but they all broke all mods in existence due to having shader be read through a different program. A completely pointless change that was only done because Bethesda had changed how they create content… not to make the modding experience better. Thankfully a mod was made to retroactively auto patch all other mods but still.
They are not 6 months late with Halloween stuff, they are 6 months early.

@@drummerboi661 I’m basically in an abusive relationship with Fallout 4 on PS4. Every year or so I’ll start a new playthrough, painstakingly reinstall my mods and CC content, and clear the cache between each installation just to be extra safe. Then I’ll play, have a great time, and in time, maybe a week, maybe a month, I’ll get that dreaded 0KGB message and start literally hyperventilating in rage.

If anything, I hope it fixes the “Can’t drop Quest Items” bug. (The one where you can’t drop certain items even after the quest was finished.)

So by next gen update, it's just a normal update many games go through over time but they are putting "next gen" in the name to make it seem like it's the same kind of thing when you go from Cyberpunk on PS4 to PS5.
In this case is the same of cyberpunk in terms that you are gonna get a native aplication and you will have the quality mode and performance mode choice so its not just like the last of us 2 or days gone that only got updated but they are still last gen aplications, which means that the game can access the whole power of the ps5 and series x instead of only a portion like they do with the back compat apps
The Halloween stuff i can tell you, In Fallout 4 the bombs fell when it was closing Halloween (October 23 2077), you can see some Halloween decor in houses and places, oddly you could never use them for settlement building and now you can, kind of like the Christmas decor, and the Halloween stuff is free so i am happy about that, PD: i am playing on ps5 and i am happy that the game looks better and runs at a smooth 60 FPS.
I currently have Fallout 4 installed on the SSD of my PS5 and I have yet to meet ANY crashes or glitches with the Season Pass currently installed.

Update broke F4SE (Fallout 4 Script Extender) which is a dependency for like 90% of the mods. It's a "Skyrim Anniversary Edition" situation.
To be fair the Halloween decorations make sense because the bombs dropped right before Halloween
I broke Fallout 4 so many times with mods, especially the ones that added bandits and such. Good times

I think the reason they are giving a Halloween pack is that the opening of the game is set during Halloween time Nora tries to make plans w nate to take Shaun out to get a pumpkin or something for Halloween right before the TV starts announcing that the bombs are coming

What I've always found weird is they released a patch for Fallout 76 to have 60FPS on PS5 but couldn't be bothered with Fallout 4. I've never understood the double standard when it comes to Bethesda games, if any other developer released a game a buggy or broken at launch(and still pretty buggy after official patches) they would be crucified, look at CDPR with the launch of CP2077 how badly they were slammed🤷🏻♂️

Well having been watching Fallout on prime, I decided to revisit the game, having played it years ago, on an older PS4 accepting I upgraded the old HDD to a 1TB SSD and downloaded it from the playstation store for £3.99 (75% off right now). Just running everything from a digital download on a PS4 SSD makes a massive difference to lag, screen redraw. So if you are thinking of revisiting Fallout 4, up your drive to an SSD (its so easy on PS4, instructions online, have a USB stick to hand), ditch your PS4 disc, download it as a digital version; combined with the update today you are sure to have a happy experience. It still holds up in my eyes and for £3.99 its epic and im only one day in of play but having a blast.
Having as sdd won't make any difference to visuals outside of slightly faster loading times as the PS4 version isn't programmed to take advantage of an SSD.
So has nobody else seen where they just announced that they learned from Skyrim and made sure that the majority of mods will in fact not be affected?

I’m ready for the enclave quest, because I remember first playing the game and no enclave but there’s x0-1 power armor so I’m looking forward to it.
Can almost guarantee the fix for 'creation club' will be tons of paid mtx that is Fallout TV themed & to cash in on that success.

Don’t recall them promising literally anything. It’s a 10 year old game man 💀, they are focusing on different things now. They also stated they worked to keep most mods working so let’s see how that turns out

I would hope they would also add an FOV slider after how the community made it clear with F76 that not having one is unacceptable now. So going back and retroactively adding an FOV slider and not having to use commands would be welcome. Also sensitivity sliders for both hipfire and ADS would be nice. Especially as ADS is really slow by comparrison.

Do NPC settlers knock down the Halloween decorations?
I remember when they had break the main questline on Xbox One, by placing a vault door right in the path of a node during "dangerous minds". And there's no way to bypass the impossible obstacle. And they haven't fixed it since....So, I hope they have fixed it.
Will it fix the npc's no interaction with. PS5 player and the npc's have just stopped responding to me...??? Now I'm locked out of many quests.
I totally agree about the halloween thing. Yes, we all know that the prologue of the game was set at Halloween, but come on. This is Bethesda!! They don't give stuff away for free. These are left over halloween assets they were almost certainly going to charge for in a separate DLC and then either forgot or got sidetracked with another project. Even this update feels like a creaky attempt to lull players back to their brand riding on the coat tails of a TV series, when they have no intention of releasing another Fallout game for YEARS. Tossing old assets out as a carrot on a stick makes sense for them, they're selling more copies of their decade old game for near full price - if they didn't do something like this, nobody COULD play it because everyone has big monitors now. The only way they could draw attention with it is to shoehorn in every possible spare asset they could to make it shiny and new, without having to do a remaster. The way they've treated the modding community (or haven't treated them) tells me everything I need to know. Yes, I'll download the patch and play it one last time, because I never got to finish it back in the day. I'm definitely NOT fooling myself that they're doing this for the love of the franchise or their fans though. This is a money grab, nothing more.

Not only did the bombs drop on oct 23, you wake up oct 23 in the game, if you go to diamond City and wait a few days they'll be Halloween decorations around the city. Theres jack-o'-lanterns every where in game. I think you're the only one not getting it lol

Everyone I know has had huge expectations for this update because of how long it’s taken them to get it together. All I want is a stable downtown Boston now. Minimal crashing as much as possible.

The Widescreen thing is confusing??? So widescreen was introduced in 2003 (1080) Fallout 4 was released 2015. So 12 years after Widescreen was introduced you Launched a Game without widescreen? But when you run the game it has widescreen? Now we are getting a "Next Gen" Patch that adds widescreen??? And the word NEXT GEN is everywhere......where the Ray Tracing @???? You know NEXT Gen Technologies.
I expected ray tracing but then I saw their elder scrolls update, which looked no different from the previous gen game

I mean the must they are gonna do is going from low settings to high and bump the resolution but skyrim did had the special edition with those upgrade fallout still has the equivalent of low settings on ps5 because they never update it so yeah this will look better in front of you but its nothing game changer if you are on pc

So long as the PC load times are fixed. A door or lift can have me sat there for a minute or so waiting. So glad I have 7800x3d fast ddr5 and gen 5 nvme for such awful performance. Money well spent 😅

I am happy to play the game with automatron again because on ps5 is doesnt work and in the settlement building mode there are purple textures for dlc building stuff
I’ll get it on steam deck because that’s where I have all my DLCs. Although I’m for too focused on new vegas to care. I’ll also see how much has improved on PS5.

Technically kinda but 99% of the actual real upgrades are current gen only so I wouldn't expect to see much difference on the older consoles

So my PS4 I just updated it to get the mods and then they come out with a new update so I'm mad about that because I just updated but my fallout 4 don't lag AT ALL not even a little bit the only time it started lagging was because I installed mods and I had like 20 mod rings on but now I'm mad because they are going to break my mods and my update is 9 gigs

All I really care about with this update is the achievements being fixed. Im on xbox i use NO mods as this is my first playthrough of fallout 4 im level 45 ive done a ton of quests, ive done all the DLC, i have a self sustaining sanctuary hills settlement and im working on vault 88 as well, i also did some settlment missions including the one at the castle and i have yet to get the war never changes achievement which is quite literally leaving vault 111 for the first time , as well as the other achievements for certain levels, completing certain quests, aligning with multiple settlements, maxing out affinity with a companion, finding 5 or more companions etc and its really annoying i just want that to be fixed
