'Top Speed Germany' is a German KZhead channel for people who love cars.
My Name is Max and I film while driving cars. No matter if they are old, fast, loud or electric. They need to be special! With several onboard cams, I record everything important to show you High-Speed-Runs, Acceleration tests ( 0-100 kph / 0-200 kph / 100-200 kph / 200-300 kph ) and test drives on German Autobahn or Road. Please note, Germany is the country of "no speed limit" highways. So in some places, it's allowed to drive very fast. But please don't try this if you are not an experienced driver !! If you enjoy give a like and subscribe for more videos ;-) .
More old cars like this!
I agree👍
👏🏻👏🏻
Yes......❤️❤️❤️❤️
I agree 👌👌
But in manual..automatic Transmission Is boring
Man, mid 80s to early 90s Hondas were such beautiful, timeless cars
Absolutely ! i remember several models of honda from 80 to 85 in algeria , never trouble allways on top , that time everybody says japanes cars sucks .....really ? see what's happen today!
Not only Honda!! Toyota, mmc, - gold era of engineering
, japaneses cars is not a crap !@@user-xg8mo3jm8k yes absolutely i know that ,
That is so true.
eeeehh, this one may be a bit of a stretch but I would agree with a 1988 Accord Coupe with the pop ups.
Almost everything about this car felt premium through the video.. no interior squeakings, plastic noises or things like that.. damn, even the door closing sound was so much better than most modern cars! All that from a 1985 vehicle....
Meanwhile my corvette from 2005 falling apart DAMN YOU GM
What do you mean with "and all that from 1985"? Do you mean that in the 80´s were shit or bad finished? dude, you must be a zoomer... The best quality era was 80´s 90´s, more 80 than 90.... I have a 1987 nissan bluebird turbo with independent suspension at the four wheels, stability bar front and rear, brake discs at the 4 wheels. No one touch me at high speed!!
@@Big1_ What I meant is that back in the day when technology wasn't that pressent in the automotive industry (less robots, less artificial inteligence contrary to "modern cars" build process), they were still able to make such perfect cars, with great attention to detail. Now let's get in a modern Honda and go for a drive, 100% plastics will start making noises and etc. Not to mention that most "normal" cars are switching back from having a rear independent suspension, even Ford which had the best chassis, best handling and a very complicated rear independent suspension for it's class - for a semi-independent rear suspension.. I mean, back in the day, you were buying A CAR, not a roboCAR, when the handling was the buying factor - now the buying factor is who offers more tech for the money..
@@unknown-hl4bj exactly, the only changed in the car industry of the 80´s to today´s it´s the speed to create a car. In the 80´s maybe they could make 4 cars in one hour, and now they can make 12 but how? eliminating the hand jobs (quality/finished) and letting the machines put all the plastic dashboard itself and plastic cover doors itself... In the 80´s there were workshoops inside the factory, mostly women, which handcrafted the dashboard, door panels, etc Automotive industry saw this as a waste of time and money in the 2000, and they started making things "easier" faster" and cheaper to sell more cars and give customers what they wanted in the begining of the year 2000´s, cars with "gps" "phone" "dvd" "cd charger" etc

Yes, with the quiet engine sound, and the mileage..
Honda reliability for you. Even my 2020 K20C2 Civic runs bette rat 0% oil life than 100% hah.
Есть тачки и пободрее
That motor is just humming away, totally happy in its work. Expect nothing less from a classic Honda
The thing about these 80s Hondas, is that most people at the time had been driving either a 1975 Nova Sedan or a 1978 Malibu. So you can look back at any 1980s Honda or Toyota and say to yourself, "What was the big deal?" Well, just look at that instrument cluster and steering wheel. For the time, it was AWESOME!
They still have better build quality than some higher end manufacturers today.
@@mocha9072 Agreed although Honda seems to be having some quality issues lately. In a lot of ways, their quality, reliability, and durability isn't what it used to be.
Well, the engine definitely sounds as it's running perfectly, and the car demonstrates good stability at high speeds too. Impressive after all these years! Great video!
Those engines are so hard to kill.
I love watching slower cars getting an opportunity to open up like this for miles on end
It probably decarboned some things
Samee there's just something fascinating about driving slow cars to it's limits

Automatic transmission bit of a lag at 3 to 5000rpm...but wowww she came from on 1985...still rocks 🤩
yup auto transmission have a lag and "eat" power from engine
I think it’s just the locking torque converter
The automatic does not swallow any power
Considering this is a 4-Speed auto and the car was made in the 80s but 4-speed automatics are slower than the equivalent 5-speed manual
The automatic gear was a shit , much better a 5 manual, anyway nice test of a 80's honda car
6:11 He started racing the old Honda ... most satisfying race in 2021 hahahaha 😂
My father had a ca5 in 1987, white with light blue velvet interiors. It was ordered only by brouchure. It was cheaper than a mercedes 190e (direct competitor ) and faster, accord was best handling car of his category, in that period. My father now unfortunately can't watch this video, but l'm sure that if he was being here, he liked it so much. Thanks for it 🙏
Interestingly how the speed starts increasing more quickly past 170 km/h after you caught the BMW's slipstream at 2:15
Impressive stability at high speeds 👏
It was a good video but driving these old Hondas at high speed is dam right frightening- scary light steering, floaty suspension and in an accident they disintegrate so a broom is all thats needed to clean up the mess. They are good cars but high speed on anything but a perfect road isn't ideal
@@Flying_GC I don't think it's frightening. I drive usually with my 97' Civic Coupe around 130-140 km/h (80-85mph) and sometimes up to 160km/h (100mph) for a longer distance. At this speed it's very stable, not very much of a light steering and my suspension is somehow not floaty. Comparing to today's standards, it is floaty, but it's really ok-ish to drive at these speeds.
Typical Honda.
@@1GTASANANDREASCJ your car is 1997. This is 1985. There is a massive difference between an EF Civic and these old accords/ preludes.
@@Flying_GC To these accords there isn't much difference. The suspension is comparable. Both have Double Wishbone in Front and Back which is a big improvment to vehicle stability.
This car brings back very nice memories to me. This generation Accord was so far ahead of its time! At that time not a single European car in its class could top up with this Accord. 12V engines with balance shafts for excellent performance, very low fuel consumption and extremely quit ride. The double wishbone suspension and the sleek style. Not to mention it's extreme reliability. This car drives as well as many new cars do today and sometimes even better. Honda makes such nice cars!
The same was true in the US! I had a black over tan '89 Accord LX-i like this but with a 5-speed manual for my first car at 16 years old. It really did blow away everything in its class. This car was designed when Honda was run by engineers, and it shows!
You are right. I can remember when my fathers cousin came with this car in the 80th for a visit. For me as a kid it was from another world in comparison to our VW Golf I we still had. I fould this video because I remembered today and I had to look for some pictures and videos. Nice memories. Love this car.
Yeah my dad's 1994 has over 300k miles and still runs great
God I love 80's and 90's interiors so much, what an absolute gem
They were so utilitarian, simple and just straight up beautiful. I love them too
When a mid-80s Honda goes past a Tesla
I like the Honda, but don‘t over do it buddy. Not even close (in case this was even meant serious😂).
@@user-kz6it8pf8g He literally passed a Tesla in the clip. ^^
@@johnkowalsky1988 Fair enough😂 I’m just saying, he could have also passed a Lamborghini, doesn’t really mean anything.
@@user-kz6it8pf8g 🤨 huh
@@memeade3914 What is there to huh about?😂 I just meant, that the comment could be interpreted in a way that the Honda is actually faster than a Tesla. I don’t take it seriously, pretty obvious that it was just a joke.
I like when you drive old car like this 👍👍👍
Almost 120 mph (~195 kph)! I took my 1984 Civic CRX up to 123mph and it only had a 1.5 liter. Impressive little engines!
He ought to be able to hit 200 km/h because I personally went 125 mph in my 1988 Accord LX-i. The acceleration gets slow past 110 mph. He didn't keep the throttle pegged long enough at 7:59
I suppose that if you bought one of these instead of a Sierra, Passat or Ascona in West Germany in 1985, people would think you're unusual.
In germany people still think youre "unusual" if you dont have a german car
Its still unusual if you buy Honda in Germany nowadays
My parents had two of these and they were simply fantastic! Brings back lots of happy memories, thank you!
Do more of these classic test drives please!
decent acceleration with "only 115hp" and automatic! i love these old honda cars
My father in law had such one with manual transmission. Kept it till 2005 when he switched to a Mazda 626. Great cars both of them. Very well made.
More older average cars like this, please! Cool to see regular vehicle on their limit. I had same exact car with a manual gearbox.

When I saw “85 Honda Accord” I was like....gooooo loook!!! awesome content. Not bad top speed for a mid 80s accord.
I love how you beat the shit out of old cars... it warms my heart! Makes me feel happy.
Youngtimer? 😆
Love the old steering wheels without buttons or air bags. So elegant and simple. Also, that car did really well for it's age at speed.
I had an '85 Accord as one of my first cars here in the states. Had it up to top speed like once - think it took five miles to get there 😂 The car in this video looks really clean and seems like it still rides nice and smooth!
My first pedal when I was young kid back to 89'and still use for my daily ride until now .such a good experience to the old friend
Incredible.... I had the same accord in college.. it was so much fun to drive it.. smooth and fast. But whatvi saw today just blow my mind..
What a beautiful, well maintained car. Bravo to the owner. 190km/h is also pretty good for a car of that (my 😄) era.
It have speed limiter on 190 km/h, possible go faster then 200
Yep..meaning it will hit 200km/h with a manual gearbox 👏
@@TheMuzikall funny thing my 97 civic lx doesn't cut off. I took and swapped out the automatic for manual transmission and didn't do the wire conversion for the reverse lights I just use that switch off the automatic when I need reverse light i just keep it plugged in and tucked away under leather sheath of the shifter. I also still have the automatic computer and somehow my revlimiter is 7500 rpms, it used to be 7200. The only downside really is the gear indicator on dash stays in park and the [D] light flashes constantly non stop🤣 but all in all I guess that's ok plus I got a higher redline now😁
There is also like two sensors I dont have plugged in on the manual that I had plugged in on automatic. I cant figure out why it dont cut off I still have my speedometer working corectly

Amazing! I hope you do more of the older vehicles. I wonder if you can find a 1990 Honda Civic? My aunt had one with the 1.5L 4-cylinder non VTEC and it was a very stable vehicle! I LOVED DRIVING IT! The Accord you drove is my FAVORITE GENERATION!

Love my 2000 Civic Ex.. great on gas, nice V-Tec boost when needed. She's a big 21 year's old now.
Mid-90's Honda's were gold. My first car was an 84' Honda Prelude S - then came the Accord hatchback w V6. Both memorable cars and very good.
