They are probably best buddies. I have had retrievers and cats play exactly like that. The cat was probably sleepy and didn't respond playfully in that instance. The cat was not in any danger, furthermore he was enjoying the attention from his buddy. If the cat had been disturbed he would have scratched the dog and ran away from him. Too cute!❤
The cats reaction tells me these two have an exceptionally close relationship. Very cute!

That dog must be disciplined right away! Such action towards a cat is very distressing for the cat, and will make him nervous and maladjusted. Absolutely must not be used as a toy ball by an animal 5 times bigger than itself .. Cats need 17-18 hours of sleep per day. Because they are essentially nocturnal animals. And absolutely must not be disturbed or bothered in any way. They must have peace and quiet.
