Bonjour,
I've felt myself indulging in the summer vibe more and more this past week. The weather has been amazing and we're enjoying spending lots of time outside. But the week has presented some hiccups as usual :) Never a dull moment.
Thank you for being here and following our journey.

  • For over 50 years of driving, I never knew whether to be insulted by the fact that usually no-one offered help when I had car troubles, or just get on with the solution. (I AM an independent individual.) I like your observation that even people who didn't know you recognised that you are a strong woman. A positive thought! Only once did someone come up to me with the ideal approach. I was changing a tyre in a busy carpark and obviously enroute to a special occasion. (High heels, white outfit, makeup, hat etc.) The guy approached and said "You obviously know what you are doing, but I would hate to see your outfit ruined. May I help you?" It was the perfect question because I was on the verge of tears underneath, but determined not to show it. He fixed it more quickly than I could whilst I regained my internal composure, cleaned up and was soon on my way. I was so grateful .... for the job, his words and for leaving me with my dignity.

    • Oh yes that was perfect! I had a similar situation when I had to change a tyre on the parking of a supermarket. A man came and set; do you need help fixing them (don’t know how to say this in English but turning the screw things is really heavy and they need to be turned until you hear the click) as I know that can be a pain? He was so sweet, he just wanted me to be safe. I truly appreciated that. And sometimes honestly I would appreciate just someone else doing it for me, I was traveling back from the Netherlands once and needed to fill up on oil at a highway gas station and was dressed nicely like you were and I spilled a bit over the engine a bit because I didn’t have a funnel and was too tired to get back to the gas station shop and was just standing there muddling with it with, again, so many cars and men around me and I was like one of you probably has this in your car, I’d appreciate it if I could use it… anyway, we strong women manage 💪🏻 (For anyone reading this and freaking out, my engine has one of those plastic boxes over it so no oil in the engine… needless to say I got home safely 😂)

    • @@FrenchCountryLife How sweet of that man. You can usually tell someone who is genuine and has the right attitude. It is good to good to be strong and independent, but sometimes it is just plain tiring doing it yourself ALL the time. During that same tyre changing incident I also had someone walk past and say "Oow, a woman changing a tyre. I must take a photo." Now this was about 40 years ago, long before mobile phones were even thought of, but the thought of him still makes me see red! Needless to say I nearly used the tyre jack on HIM!

  • We use to have a horse farm so we cut hay and straw annually for them. Nothing smells better than fresh cut hay or fresh cut clover. I do miss that, but when you retire from farming, you try to slow down. Your flowers will be lovely and those vibrant red poppies are beautiful. Your savory waffles look delicious. I think I will make them and have a Hollandaise sauce on the side to put on them. Must try.

Your waffles looked delicious. Sorry about your van… a little bump in the road as they say. It was great your mechanic had a shop near where the van was. Soon it will be fixed. Your right , you can’t control it so back to nature which is always so good for the soul.

  • First, glad you made it home safely from the side of the road!! Marloes the intro on this Vlog was just stunning - the landscape, the beautiful cows, the church in the background, just next-level videography! The savory waffles were everything...so glad this recipe will be making it into the cookbook - will you serve with a honey herbed butter or maple syrup? Love the sweet/savory combo! As always Marloes a treat for the senses! Merci!

It can be really wonderful for them to have a friend and for you its a lot of fun to watch them interact. That waffle looks so good too. What a great idea. Their are apps for plant identification if you have a tablet or a smart phone.

  • First time seeing this. Beautiful country side. Your strawberries are much better than mine. Weeds can come with flowers. They are exceedingly tiny and delicate. Also they are usually more adaptable to the ground and natural water from the rain. Think that their roots go deeper. Since I have trouble growing flowers, love the wild flowers. Your place is so peaceful looking.

When this needs replacement I will definitely look for one again. I had my eye on a Hilux as it makes me feel like a true fake farmer but my boys thought I’d look ridiculous in it 😂

  • How many languages do you speak? So far Iʻve counted 4: English (which is perfect), French, Dutch, German....

    @alisonmccalla4099@alisonmccalla40994 ай бұрын
    • I don’t speak German, just a basic knowledge but I understand it very well. I have learned some Spanish and Italian as well but stopped because I started mixing things up and it impacted my fluency mostly in French. I feel my brain has a limit as to how many languages it can master without getting confused and so I’ve decided to limit myself to English and French (and Dutch is my mother tongue)
