Boeing put under Senate scrutiny during hearings on aircraft maker's safety culture
An engineer at Boeing said Wednesday that the aircraft company, in rushing to produce as many planes as possible, is taking manufacturing shortcuts that could lead to jetliners breaking apart.
“They are putting out defective airplanes,” the engineer, Sam Salehpour, told members of a Senate subcommittee.
Salehpour was testifying about Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner, hundreds of which are in use by airlines, mostly on international routes. He spoke while another Senate committee held a separate hearing on the safety culture at Boeing.
The company has been under multiple investigations and in crisis mode since a door-plug panel blew off a 737 MAX jetliner during an Alaska Airlines flight in January.

And a murder.... don't forget about the guy the whistle blower.
Daniel, we should note that Boeing did not cause his death in the first place, several news agencies confirmed that he died from self-inflicted wounds.
@@lastwarning8631 That doesn't fit with the conspiracy theorists agenda.
2 murders
@lastwarning8631 I can only assume that you are being sarcastic
Surprised he even made it to the courtroom
I used to say, "If it's not Boing, I'm not going." Now I say, "If it's Boing, it's blowing."
You sound like a clown. 🤡
Profits are the only real target of all companies that have protected gamblers...erm, stock holders.
Guess what. Airlines are also focusing on profits often through their rewards programs rather than safely transporting passengers.
What? Nobody in maintenance has anything do do with sky miles or rewards😂
Airlines aren’t responsible for making or maintaining the planes which is where ALL the problems arise, just make sure the pilots are certified and well rested and they are fine, of course they will have to focus on making a profit, also generating profit from passengers is ALOT more difficult than generating from selling planes, they are more than justified to focus more on profit than Boeing.
@@09archange airlines are absolutely responsible for making sure their fleet is maintained.
@@brybag6938 that’s not what I said.
@@yolo_burrito How exactly? They don’t own any of the maintenance companies, this is like saying a car owner is responsible for maintaining his car, sure he is responsible for delivering it to the mechanic for fixing it, but if anything is wrong with the repairs he isn’t to blame.
So the FAA not catching any fades in this?
Preemptive rest in peace
Alaska Airlines would know all about these faulty parts and planes. Trust me their engineers know it.
That's very scary 😮
I know I will NEVER fly on boing ever again
BOEING SUCKS
How can you say that you have no idea it’s a business like any other the quality that is put in to 99% of those planes thanks for the hard-working Washington residence and don’t doubt the quality. Blame the leaders for the cut they make to make the business profitable.
@joshwebb1493 Well Said
Mechanics/ assemblers only do what the ENGINEERS tell them to do and HOW. I should know, I worked for a major commercial aircraft repair station. And even we struggled to understand why engineers wanted things done a certain way. We were mechanics. We knew how to put parts together or take it apart... not the WHY engineers wanted.
@@Eric-gi9kg totally agree you can’t blame the workers for the leaders mistakes. But I did just complete an associates degree in business with certificates and project management and human resources to be able to understand this completely.
But we need more money 😢
Senate is not a court. It knows this. The Supreme Court has admonished them before, during the Macarthy years.
Imagine a world in which investor profits take precedent over employee, client, and the general publics safety and well-being. Can you imagine a world like that? What a wicked story we could weave of such a world!
Welcome to regulatory capture, and revolving door capitalism.
Bring back the headquarters to Seattle. How can they supervise quality at a distance of 3000 miles?
To be unaccountable just like for profit healthcare chains
Seattle taxed then outta here, blame these demon cult member for that. I'm surprised any of Boeing is still here with the tax bill they carry. Another company down the shitter.
It has nothing to do. It has to do with their "Executives" CUTTING COST. Just like China's Tofu-Dreg-Buildings.
Time to clean up the McDonnell Douglas hierarchy. Yes I said Douglas! They put profit before safety and that’s just flat out dumb!
Unfortunately Boeing isn't the only company that pays more attention to their stock prices. That's pretty much every company out there. It's just that Boeing is not a company that can afford to be profits first safety second. No aircraft company can have that mentality and survive. Boeing is big enough with a past culture of quality engineering they should be able to recover, and maybe regain what they've lost. It was the McDonald Douglas executives that changed the internal culture of the company.
This is true. I saw it myself.
LMFAO... NEWS FLASH... ALL!!! AIRLINES TELL THE FAA WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO EXCEPT. It cost the airlines millions to do all the modifications that the FAA have proposed them to do. It started in the 1960s And it's not just commercial aircraft builers.
Boeing should be done and people need to go to jail
A corrupt lawyer Bringing a corrupt company in frint of a corrupt gov. I wonder what corruption will occur.
When things were built local and in the country where we had control. Much safer now everything's getting sent overseas. Where are the bolts in different items we be stamped with a grade but it's counterfeit.
The problem with Cost Cutting to improve stock prices. Didn't Boeing changed their greedy CEO and got golden parachute after 2 planes fell down and pilots got blamed?
Dont forget to mention the assassination.
Don't care to fly on a plane that the name sounds like parts are falling off and bouncing on the ground.
[ THATS. NOTHING. NEW. -- SENATE. + OTHERS. , HAVE. BEEN. DOING. IT. FOR. MANY. DECADES. ] !!! .
It might be bowing in the news because making airliners you can cut corners people die we don’t fly do we? We have to go in something else uno plane
Boeing is bad news. What other company can grow into REPLACING BOEING..transition military reliance away/Boeing
Boeing embraced dei practices. That's why this all happened. Not greed like they want you to believe.
The ceo behind this shift away from competence into profit is publicly and vocally against DEI. Not every news story is a vessel to hold your agenda.
Only comment that makes sense, so far. 🤘🏻
At what point does the ground crew take responsibility for the maintenance of their own airplanes most of these things could’ve been caught with visual inspections. The short time I worked for the ground crew for Alaska Airlines I was always looking for issues on the planes. It wasn’t even necessary for me to do it, but I was trying to protect the people on the planes.
Thanks Boeing. Because of your lack of quality, I have bought an RV and I am now having the best time of my life... I'll never fly on a commercial flight again. 😊
