  • My jaw dropped so hard when you said "I never wanted a lego city, I wanted a model railroad." mainly because I myself have a model railroad. It's really creative to have a layout made of lego, it really opens the door to making anything with full freedom. I myself learned that you need to know what you want before you make any decisions, since I restarted my own layout. I'm just as excited to see where you go with it as I was with the city!

  • The core philosophy of Lego is to build over and over again. No matter what you build as long as you build. No limits, no borders, no written rules. You build what makes you happy. That is Lego. Way to go Jang. I am watching your videos not because if what you build but how you build, what thought process you have while building. I think majority of the folks here can agree with me.

  • Definitely understand the train vibe. The zoo was a neat idea but we can't all have an airplane hangar to fill with lego layouts. Happy for the focus on lovingly made content rather than some empty skyscrapers too. Loving it!

    @TheBayru@TheBayru28 күн бұрын
  • The “what’s the biggest?” and skyscraper point resonates with me. Living with giant builds (especially in small apartments) is a nightmare. Building for quality is the way to go.

  • The best bit about watching you with your city? Your joy and enthusiasm! It amazes me that there are people who think they can tell you what you should build.

  • I have been following you and your city layout evolution sparingly almost since the beginning together with my son, since ha was 3 years old. Now he is almost 13, and we are watching this video together. Thanks for the enjoyment, fun and inspiration you have been giving us all this time. As for your last update, I think it makes perfect sense. Thinking back about it, I feel like this realization of wanting to build a train layout has always been there, and quite apparent at that. You just had to fully embrace it, which I get it: it's not easy at all, especially when you know you have to contend with an audience, and not always the most tactful at that, this being the Internet. Also, I think your train "stuff", including your cargo port, is definitely the best and most inspired part of your creations, which are always inspiring in general. Space is not infinite, although you have a lot of it, and I think this new, more focused approach is definitely a good step. Thank you again, can't wait to see what the future brings!

  • Jang I've been "with you" for decade plus...I enjoy your reviews, insights, and thoughtfulness (haven't gotten onto Twitch yet to watch live building). I'm one who totally gets this is YOUR CITY (or railroad yard/tracks, etc). For me THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT -- to enjoy YOUR CONTENT and agreeing/disagreeing seems unnecessary and irrelevant. I have MY OWN projects and enjoy watching others' projects for inspiration, tips, or just a contract to mine. Keep on keeping on -- and thanks for sharing YOUR ideas and builds.

  • I'm glad you are prioritizing your own happiness with this layout. The yard will mean you can do some real shunting work! The plans for scenic breaks are also very sensible and a critical part of good model railways.

  • YES‼️ NEW JANG CITY UPDATE‼️ Editing in some actual thoughtful responses to the video as I watch: for one, seeing your stream setup evolve has been really impressive and satisfying. The presentation of this video is great. I don’t think the distinction between a LEGO city and a model railroad built out of LEGO is semantics. I’m happy that you have found a way of engaging with this project that is more personally fulfilling for you.

  • Jang, I appreciate that you're taking the layout in a direction you will love. So many people on the internet adhere to the whims of their audience, so it's very refreshing to see you going in your own direction. Thanks for the update, and I shall look forward to the next one!

  • Speaking personally, it’s always been your passion for your city and hearing your thought process about it that I’ve enjoyed far more than any actual building or section of the city itself. The happier and more passionate you are, the happier I’ll be to be watch!!

  • This reminded me of the time where I didn't have a train in my layout to prioritize more buildings, but after years I realized that no amount of buildings could fill the train sized hole in my heart, so I reinstalled the train track and have been much happier for it. I'm glad to see you take a similar journey and realizing what makes you happy is what is most important.

  • You do you. That's the whole point of this channel for me. I can think and feel, but if I want something done in lego I'll do it myself, I can always take ideas from you but I would never want you to do anything other than what you want for your city, your trainworld! It is so interesting to see your thought process, that's what I'm subscribing for. Just you and your own journey with lego. If I want something else, I go elsewere. Take care of yourself and keep beeing true to yourself! :)

Watching this right after Wintergatan’s newest video “the power of asking why?” I feel like you’re both at the same point right now and it’s been resonating with me as a creative myself.

  • I can't add much more to the comments supporting your new rail-focused direction, do what makes you happy! Your Lego city was the first one I found on KZhead, and your creativity with MOC structures and other settings are what keep me coming. I grew up in Oakland, not far from the industrial corridor along the Nimitz and (old) Cypress Freeways you mentioned. I'm not a rail expert, but I've also been fascinated by much of the rail and industrial belt in Oakland and the East Bay. Keep it up!

  • Out of all LEGO cities I watch on KZhead you care more about trains than any of them, so I’ve been waiting for the day you decide to push forward with trains as a priority. I thought you might come out and use the term “model railway” for your layout one day and this is the time. I know people have criticised your land usage of trains in the past and the way you laughed that off really resonated with me. As someone who also likes model train layout building philosophies, and knowing your personality enough tells me this decision is the best step for your layout

  • I'm glad to see that you're prioritizing your perspective on your City and reflecting on what you really want out of this endeavor. That's a really tough obstacle to overcome for creatives, no matter what medium you choose. If you don't have a clear understanding and acknowledgement of your goals, you will find yourself aimless, and it'll be that much more difficult to find satisfaction in what you're doing. I usually check into your city progress to find inspiration, and believe it or not, you taking these crucial steps is also inspiring.

You doing what you want, will make your passion and excitement shine which will, in turn, be enjoyable and inspiring/motivational for folks watching you. Maybe it'll push someone to do what their crazy idea is! • I am so glad to see the progress you've made since the last Patreon stream I saw. And very, very happy you are giving yourself freedom to move things around and try stuff in different locations to see how they feel to you, and not be concerned about how anyone else feels. Your enthusiasm and pure energy and joy are contagious and valued! I recently re-watched your 300,000 subscriber video on your main channel - and the sincerity behind what you do to this day is still so valuable for so many. Not just "should I buy this set or not? lemme see a Jang review", but just in how you present everything - your reviews, your Lego website first looks, and your city - being able to witness and appreciate your happiness for this hobby and get your honest take about sets, plus see your amazing creativity at work in your city - as Yoda would say, "brings warm feelings to my heart" [and yes, I know just how silly that line is - brings me more disappointment for the prequels! :) ]. But really. I am glad you're "in the zone" with this. And seeing a layout that is in progress - that's rare and fun to witness as it shows how things get made, get decided - it shows the creative process rather than just the final result. For me, personally, I enjoy that. Can't wait to see where this goes - all aboard!

I've come to the conclusion over the last year I've split myself too wide with all the themes I collect and build MOCs for. • I've been watching your lego city for 9 of the 11 past years and as a fellow model train enthusiast this is by far the most exciting change you've made :) i'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with it from here on out

  • Glad to hear you still enjoy the fire station and gas station, two classic jang builds. You gas station moc inspired me as a kid to try my hand at a gas station, that moc ended up being something i liked so much that i kept it built for years collecting dust on my shelf. One day i dismantled it to make room in my bedroom for the new lego space shuttle orbiter set, a decision i kinda regret. But seeing your gas station moc still alive and well in your heart brings me so much joy, ive been following this city for 10 years now (hard to believe) and hearing you talk candidly about your feelings and vision for the layout always inspires me to work on my own creative projects. Im happy to hear that youre reinvigorated to work on this layout, and im excited as always to see whats next!
