  • As a retired collector/dealer here's what I learned. Never buy at a Barrett Jackson auction. If you can't get a Friday or Saturday Barrett Jackson slot to sell then don't enter your vehicle. Next best place to buy is Scottsdale Pavilions Shopping Center only open every Saturday. Here you can take your time and take a vehicle your interest in on a freeway drive and even put it on a lift. No buyers or sellers fees. No taxes. One last learning experience is to not buy Canadian vehicles. They are recognized easily by not being air conditioned and have really bad under carriages. You have to get them up on a lift to see all under areas and they are usually rusted.

We were at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale earlier this week and the other commenters here are right - the "first" and "second" day cars I'd like to call them were not selling for that much - I was surprised to see what I would call really solid work trucks going for less money and the cars weren't much better either - the lower end is in a soft economy/almost recession right now unfortunately due to inflation.

The selfie approach is fine if you're vlogging at your dealership. The wider shots make it more interesting, plus the camera crew can get other shots that'll give you more options in the final edit.

  • I like the professional camera crew you hired for the auction. It might be something you want to do in the future for special events like this. For your regular vlog, the gopro is perfect. As for Mecum, the Mustang, Vette and Skyline were the right cars but as someone who has sold classics and specialty vehicles at Mecum, Barretts and other auctions like this, I can tell you the time and day are very big factors in the dollar amount you get. A car running on midday Weds will always do less money than an evening Friday run number. Just like running a car at the Auto Auction of NE, The car running at 10am will always do better than 12:30. There is a strategy when selling at these auctions. Feel free to reach out to me. .
