  • Some of the most important changes announced at the conference: - the table is shortened by 10 cm (4 inch) - increased comfort for smaller players while maintaining safety, - New rule! The competitor has 30 seconds to recover from each shot. This will increase the dynamics of the fights, - The judges will be more mobile on the stage, they will pay more attention to the position of the players, chin and shoulders, which have always had and will continue to influence the verdict, - Each verdict will be presented by judges after the fight, they will explain the round scores and argumentation. - PunchDown and SlapFIGHT together created the "World Slap Fighting Alliance" to create a ranking, consistent rules, organization of the world championships and others, which we will learn soon - cooperation with Charlie White aka "moistcr1tikal"

Most of the slapper is not high or have long hand like walus, not meant to disrespect him (because he can absolutely kill me with one slap) but if the slapper is short and doesn't have long hand like vasily it can be a problem when the table is too wide cause someone like vasily have short range if he wanna deal a big damage in terms of slap. Something like a barrel in american slapfight championship is more effective because it doesn't bother the taller people and it brings the most damage in slap if the slapper is short

Guy with big neck/head can't tuck his head down nearly as far, thus is much easier to hit cleanly. It's just an unfair advantage for shorter necks/smaller heads.

He has a solid stance and when he puts his head down-like he’s entitled to do-the target area is smaller. Get better at aiming... If he’s made to stick his chin out, his structure is compromised, and unfair. Nobody deliberately sticks their chin out in this sport.

    @johhnycash45@johhnycash453 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah, Arthur's technique was really poor. He should have stepped back, as he was leaning forwards too far for him to be able to aim his slap slower. Though Vasili was moving a bit too much at the time of the slap though, I believe that should have been called as a penalty. All in all I think the judges are doing a poor job, it's their job to sort issues such as these to allow for the most fair match.

Edit: this isnt a commentary on any athlete. This is saying, there needs be a ruling on the use of a technique that gives someone an advantage. Until there is a ruling, athletes shoudl use any advantage they can.

    • @@ProfSquarez and why do you think he slapped his ear and skull?

      @drackenism@drackenism3 жыл бұрын
    • @@drackenism Because he's dirty? A chin tuck doesn't affect the depth of your slap, only the height. He's slapping way too far back on the head. Take a half step back or shorten your arm and he would've walked all over Vasilii. The table is huge and forces Vasilii and shorter competitors to reach over and up. Bigger guys like Walus have all the advantage in the world in this regard, but he refused to take it. Three straight penalties for Walus, all justified and worse than the last

      @ProfSquarez@ProfSquarez3 жыл бұрын
    • @@ProfSquarez My opinion is that the chin tuck not only locks the head in place to withstand harder hits, but it also makes it harder for the opponents to hit "correctly". I think you shouldn't be able to call the opponent for not hitting well when your strategy kind of forces them to throw a more precise slap.

  • What I think needs sorting out is rules for tucking and directional movement for the slapped part, i.e. how deep you can tuck your head and whether/how much you are allowed to move your head/body leading up to the slap. This is both for fairness in game and protection of the athletes, just to avoid burst ear-drums and whatnot. IMO, you should be allowed to tuck your chin/head down without raising your shoulders. Tucking is fine as such and you can still get good hits in (see Vasily vs. Wagner), but it should be disallowed to tuck so much as to where the neck disappears, and raised shoulders limits the area where the opponent can strike/aim safely and still hit the cheek/chin. Secondly, the slapped athlete shouldn't be allowed to move until contact with the hand. Vasily tends to move around a bit leading up to the contact, which off-sets aiming and risk clubbing by the opposing party and collateral damage to his own (Walus hit his ear a couple of times it seems because of this).

We’ve seen some lose in the court of public opinion of the audience if they look visibly shaken by the strike.
